Dreams the world far away

*joins* I saw the movie two times already!! ![]() I'm not a hardcore fan. I remember watching the show when I was young, and I went to see it for old time's sake. I loved it though! My mother thinks I'm insane, but whatever. . . Leo would be my favorite turtle. I'm definately hoping for a sequel.

Just a Happy Meal. For some reason, Raph doesn't have a weapon, and Mikey's chucks were stuck on his belt. >.< Hard to find a Leo, I've traveled a lot of branches in no avail. |

Welcome, Alantie! ![]() Haha, please don't think I'm hardcore hardcore. I left the turtles after we couldn't find anymore videotapes of the 80s cartoon. The only reason I know anything now is because I (Damn, why couldn't someone have graded me on TMNT research? :P) I've also been tracking down as many of the 2k3 toon episodes I can find on YouTube. I find the series enjoyable, if a bit corny at times. But I must be easily amused-- almost all the jokes make me laugh, even the supposed bad ones. And the turtle tot episodes are cute!
I went to my campus McD, but they didn't have the figures anywhere! I don't have time to venture out to other outlets now. Just hope Malaysian McDs have some in stock... ![]() So... would this be your first times in a long time buying Happy Meals? Just for the toys? XD
You have the Leo toy AND a Leo plushie! YOU... YOU LUCKY LUCKY GIRL. >O Here's something to chew on: What lesson do you think Leo learned in the movie? Raph's is obvious, but I couldn't figure out Leo's. There were a couple of parts where he seemed to think the family could function apart: most prominently, when he told April the guys were doing fine without him. The second scene was when he said they didn't need Raph, but you could attribute that to frustration. Finally, he admits he needs Raph (......), and we end with the whole "family fights together" scenes. I've seen it said that Leo's problem was pride, but I thought that didn't quite jive with his comment to April earlier. If he was so full of himself, he would've thought the family couldn't function without him, right? |

I think it's more about needing his family, and being needed by them just as much. "They don't need me." "I don't need Raph." Most of his 'dysfunctional' lines focus on whether someone needs him or he needs someone else. |

No, I did collect those Disney plushies. XD They're quite nice. EDIT: I finally got LEO! WOOT~! *does the Yuffie fanfare dance* Now must lose calories for buying and eating those Happy Meals! EDIT3: McDo's not selling TMNT as of April 24. Thank God I managed tracking them down and completing them. T.T
Well, Leo probably learned family unity. He realized that he can't really function without them... especially with a bullheaded brother like Raph. I never thought that Leo was being "prideful", didn't he say that "I was training, training to become a better leader! For YOU! Why do you hate me for it?!". Leo has a lot of responsibilities going on in there, and his own sacrifices, yet he has to learn patience when dealing with his brother who resented him. A patience that ran out when they finally duke it out. And finally, I guess he allowed himself to realize that Raph is someone who deserves respect, just as Raph realized that Leo is a good leader of the family. EDIT Part2!: Though I'd rather see them die (knock on wood) than pair up together, this comic made me LOL. A lot. I wish they'd bring back the Technodrome. ^^; It's highly unlikely though. A lot of fans wanted the City of War story (never really saw that in the new toon, is it good?). But I rather like the movie's stand on Karai and her Foot Clan as mercenaries, and not an underground organization bent on resurrecting the Shredder... that would be cliche. And Don and Mikey getting some screentime would be great. And since April and Casey seemed to have a step up in their relationship, I wonder if they'll marry? |

*NODNODNODNOD* I'm kinda annoyed at the insinuations that Leo fans are so protective over their baby that they can't handle the thought that he's got ego issues... Hmm, maybe that applies to most of the fandom. I haven't hung around long-time turtles fans, much less Leo fans, long enough to know. But I know I love most of the egotistical, pompous bastards of my fandoms, so if Leo really was "too proud", I wouldn't have a problem accepting it. Except I still can't see that being supported by the film. One line by him in the heat of anger isn't gonna cut it for me. I really think your assessment is much more accurate and in line with how Leo acts through the movie. *deep breath* Storyline info from the prequel comics! Apparently the Leo prequel comic reveals why he didn't return to his family: he was kicked out of the Ninja Tribunal and was ashamed. *debates between hugging Leo and hitting him for being Stupid* He also misunderstood his training or something, and thought he was supposed to protect the village, hence he became... The Ghost! As for Raph, he got the Nightwatcher suit from some old guy. There were also space dinosaurs involved. It's pretty WTF, even among readers of the comics themselves-- what're the chances of an old man making a big, metal turtle suit?Mikey's prequel comic reveals the birth of Cowabunga Carl: he admired the Nightwatcher so much that he created Carl to follow in his footsteps, and his first (maybe only? ) incident was helping a little old lady. For reasons I have not found out, that somehow led to his job as a birthday party entertainer. Don's... has something to do with the 13 monsters. He's also apparently the only one left who went patrolling (with Splinter, I think) after Leo went MIA. I felt very "Awww" when I read that. *hwuggles Donny*
Hmm, I don't have a clue... I'm good with pretty much anything as long as the turtles get more family bonding moments. As Anti-R mentioned, the City at War arc is actually a very good plotline-- after the turtles defeated Shredder, a power vaccum was created. The leader-less Foot Ninja, the Purple Dragons (a street gang) and various Nameless And Therefore Unimportant Mafia-Sort People were fighting for dominance. In the toon, Leo felt responsible for the violence that ensued since he was the one who decapitated Shredder (well, all turtles were involved in the fight, but Raph was pretty content with letting the competing groups wipe each other outta existence). Arguments Ensue (no, gee, really? ). Then outta nowhere, Karai from Japan flies in and asks the turtles for their help-- she wants to rally the New York Foot Ninja together and put a stop to the war.The best part? No sci-fi. I think that while this would've made for an AWESOME movie, though I figure the writers must've thought it involved too many people at once--probably thought the kids wouldn't be able to follow all the action going on (little do they know, 1) kids are smarter than that; and 2) most wouldn't care about the details and just want to see mutated ninja turtles kick ass anyway). Would love to see it in a sequel, though. ![]()
Hopefully, we'll see an engagement happen! Propose, Casey, you big oaf! (Something that absolutely killed me when I read it-- the director explained in an interview that they HAD originally planned a much deeper subplot between Casey and April, and it would've ended with an engagement! Then they cut it out!) And if you got through my long-winded rambling/poorly-disguised rant... Now for some disgustingly cute chibis! CHIBI FANARTZ! Batch 1 Raph, Mikey, Leo, Don Batch 2 Mikey, Raph, Leo, Don [size0]*mutters* I must check if I have it in me to puppy-dog-eye my mom until she's willing to sew a Leo plushie not unlike the Batch 2!Leo. Aaaand! Group pic! |

I love you Lynn and your little chibis. ![]() BTW, guys, be sure to buy the TMNT game. It's surprisingly fun (not like that Narnia and Avatar games, boo!!!). My favorite chapter is when Mikey is in a Cowabunga Carl outfit trying to meet up with Don because he took the van. The Turtles' movie VAs are here, so it was fun hearing them out. Mikey: *grumbling* When I get my hands on you... Don: I bought pizza. Mikey: I'll give you a big hug, because you're my brother!!! Ah, I was LOL at the time. They even have the Ninja Tag sequence... Leo: You did that on purpose! Raph: Yeah, I did! Leo: Quit shoving me! Mikey: Uh, think we should go back? Don: Do you want to go between those two right now? Mikey: Good point.
Seriously?! :o Then I gotta track it down in youtube...
Oh, I thought Raph was inspired by the old man, took his clothes, then did some alterations so he could fit in them.... Yeah, coincidence is too weird. T.T As for Leo being kicked out by the Tribunal... why? And what happened to Don's prequel?
Awww... that's cute. XD But in such short a film, I guess it can't be helped. |

Whoo, better add me back into the club, I remember watching this series when I was a baby. XD Seriously, I was about 1 when the cartoon premiered. A few problems if you will though--I am not knowledgeable about the 2003 series (hated the opening song and was kinda irritated overall with it), nor with any of the comics (frankly, I felt I shouldn't bother once I found out in one volume, they killed Donny, cut off Leo's hand and mutilated Raph's face, wtf?!). So tell me, is it a sin to consider the old cartoon best basis for canon? I don't know what else to go by. Also, wtf ever happened to Mona Lisa? Will I get stoned for mentioning her name here? XD |

Inuyatta: Welcome to the club. I LOVE the 80's cartoon, so dont worry about talking about it here, this is a club for all of the Turtles cartoons/comics/movies/whathaveyou! Hmm...plot for the new movie? I want something to do with the Technodrome too! Whatever happened to Krang anyway?? I stopped watching after I turned like...12 or something LOL. I should really check out the comics though...and maybe the latest cartoon or something like that...I'm so confused on all of it (not easy to confuse me at this point though..) |

Ah, don't worry, Inuyatta. And welcome! I was corrupted by the old toon, and thought I was too old for the new toon (I do watch it sometimes, when there's nothing good on tv). Though afterwards I make it a point to watch it after being exposed to the movie. If I have to choose a "canon", it'd be the new movie's TMNT.
I think she appeared once or twice in the entire series. And yeah... I don't like her either (no stoning though). Sorry. >.< Her and Lotus Blossom. |

Ok, at least no stoning for growing up on the 80's toon. Looks like I'm on my own for liking the one-shot wonder though. XD
Awww, I liked Mona Lisa. Lotus was meh, but Mona was fun--and of course back then, their stories were told horribly, like today's modern sues. I was actually contemplating taking the concept of Mona and refining her to fit into the darker storylines of the comic/movies and not focusing on her 'romantic' attachment to Raph. I mean, to me, she felt like the perfect opposite case to the turtles in that she started out human and became a salamander...lizard...thing. I wonder how much anger and angst I could work into that. Laird and Eastman seem to love it....eh, I'll check some of this new series out to see what kind of feel I want to go for. And if all else fails, I have the first three movies to fall back on--I got the box set last Friday at Walmart--less than $20 bucks. >3 Lotus didn't appeal to me much because Renae Jacobs was trying WAY too hard to sound Asian. Then again, when you're playing pretty much EVERY chick on the show, I can see how new voices would be kinda hard to pull outta your ass. Plus, it was the eighties, yo...XD |
