They enjoy introducing new characters that have a sudden profound impact on the original characters. Often prompting love or lust. I feel I can equate it to bad fan fiction.

He ends up talking about Julia to her and she loves another guy in the movie (to avoid spoilers). He pretty much just finds her hot and she would be his type of girl. Doesn't get any further than that. But still. It's Spiiiiike.
