Does anyone think that Sora will still be the main character? Cause I was thinkin that that might change with the next game cause Sora hasn't lost any of his old abilities or anything so I think it might be someone else.

Personally, I don't think so, kirramagic.

I've beaten KH2 on Beginner Mode (so sue me), and I felt that Sora's story was finished. Can't say too much from revealing spoilers.

So it'll probably be in another timeline, whether the future or past, Nomura have yet to specified.

Yes i think so too, Sora's story didn't quite finish yet at the endign of KH2. Although i can't help but think that maybe Riku might take the spotlight for a while in the next game (hopefully i am a huge Riku fan) . But indeed you do have some points, Becuase Sora's ablilities didn't really change and don't worry Pyra Kurai Akaidra i beat the game on beginner too ..heheh

XD I beat it on Proud Mode. (I am queen! lol ) But ya, it's true. I suppose the whole "Not Being Trapped In That Shell Thing" kinda messes up Sora for Kingdom Hearts 3. I personally hope for a whole new hero (or heroine :fangirl: )! Perhaps someone who is in the know about the whole "Keyblades War" thing. I'm kinda praying for an adult character, something similar to Auron of FFX.

Same here. SE has been dragging themselves with the adolescents long enough, it's like anyone over 17 is incapable of being a hero. They made Cloud 22 in KH, and Leon's a crone at 25--and they both still have fangirls! So how about putting someone around that age as the title character of their next game?

(As much as I would want an Auron-type as a hero, I'm taking baby steps with my hopes here. XD)

As for Sora--it's possible that he might be the main character if KH3 took place in the future. I have a feeling SE knows that he's beginning to wear out his welcome, though, with the way KH2 ended. And the thing is... if Sora grew up, wouldn't all the Disney characters have to too? *tries and fails to imagine a more "grown up" Donald*

Riku's sheer popularity might very well spawn him his own game, but I always saw him as more fitting in the "cool rival/best friend" role. Every respectable main hero has one of those. :P I know Riku got Reverse Rebirth in CoM, but again, it's as the other side of Sora's quest. I can't imagine Riku in a game all about him.

I feel the best would be to have a new batch of characters, but with the chance to revisit Sora and the gang in an effort to dig out all our nostalgia.

Why would it not? Sora can still be a key part of the story but I'm getting really sick of him. I want a mature adult character, perhaps in his/her 30's or 40's. Some one who knows the world. IE I want Auron. No matter what, Sora will be a very central point in KH as Key Blade Master but I could use a grown up now. Sora is 15 yet still seems kinda...childish to me.

Well, KH is a Disney game. Whether we like it or not, it'll prioritize their target audience.

So I cannot see a mature grim main character to go in there and interact with Disneyesque fairy tale heroes. Seriously, that's disturbing.

As for Sora, he's still a Keyblade Master, and said weapon has not left his side yet, and third game was about said weapon. So it won't be a bad idea for him to star a third one (and with Nomura fanboying him?).

I have to agree with Lynn that Riku could also have potential for an independent game (see Megaman Zero) though.

I'm not dissing Sora though really he is a great character :huggle: but really if you started the 3rd game as him as he is now in the game he's already got all his abilities so they'd have to find some way for him to start all over again which would be a pain slightly...

But I think really it would be great to introduce a new main character maybe a girl this tie ^^ I'd love that!

It's pretty standard for heroes to lose all their abilities between games without any real explanation.

D'oh! >.< Yeah, I didn't consider the Disney side of it. That would explain if all KH main characters were adolescents.

[size0](Still, SE... Consider the "older hero" idea for your other games plz? ;.; )

As for losing abilities between games--Shadow Hearts 2 came up with a way to wipe the slate clean for its main hero. If they want to, the writers will come up with something.

Or just believe that the hero simply lazes around between games, eating burritos and watching Friends. :D

*joins the Sora defense* I too love Sora! What of it? :D

I honsetly felt Sora was the perfect character to be the main hero who mingles with the Disney characters. I think in thinking about the 3rd KH, people seem to be forgetting the Disney side of the story. How is that all going to work out if its a game far in the future or way in the past? I don't think it would work out so well.

In all honesty, I don't feel Sora's story was finished. There were many loose ends, and I want to see them tied up. There was the infamous letter at the end for one thing. Leaving that wide open would be pure torture. Then, there's still Maleficient running loose. I want to know what castle she's redecorating for her own personal use! Also, with the secret video at the end of KH2, its possible that what is shown is a flashback, the same with the secret video Deep Dive for KH1. That even never actually occured during the course of the game. I feel its the same for this video as well, it just had that flashback feel to it, something about the past that Sora and the others will learn about.

Also, there's this even more controversial topic: the door of light. In the first KH, the 'mysterious voice' says that Sora is the one who will open the door. Now, I know most people seem to think that he's already done this, with the door that opens at the ending of KH2, but I disagree. What I felt was that the door referred to was the one that Kairi was told about in the story from her grandmother in KH1. Remember? That the true light of the worlds was locked away behind a door in the depths of the darkness. The worlds are scattered and disconnected, but are really and honestly supposed to be together, but without the true light, they can't be. I think the opening of that door will be the end of Sora's story, and until it happens, it isn't over yet. :P

*cough* Yuna and Rikku *cough*. Last time I saw these two characters in my FFX game, they're level 99.

And don't make me start with Vincent in DoC (why the heck is he level 1 when he easily fought Bahamut Shin in AC?!).

Well... XII seems to be in the right direction. Even though Vaan was slotted "main character", he wasn't important enough to shake the game. You could easily slide in Basch and Balthier (originally the main guy before Vaan)... both above 20s.
