*continues to be humiliated to have the Terminator as her governor* T_T I was living in Oregon, not my choice! Me, I'm pleased that the Democrats will have more control, all the reasons why have pretty much already been mentioned, so no point in rehashing when others have already said so with good reasoning. I think maybe immigration is a topic that deserves it's own discussion, and for the record, I strongly agree with what Sadhana has said. It's a topic very personal to me, and a topic that I feel is probably too personal for me to try to debate. I have a feeling I'd get too offended by what might be said. ![]() homg, poor John Lennon! [this is my own little rant on 9 11 and afghanistan] this is back from the first post but I just say my bit on this. I agree that america should concentrate on north korea more because they have the more potential threat but also keep up with what is going on in Iraq. Because you really wanna know what lead up to 9 11, america doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. If they had focused their attention on the terriost activities going on they could've prevented 9 11. and dont try and tell america didnt know what was going on, because they did! they didnt take it seriously and concentrated on other things. and what really really pisses me of is how america didnt care about the taliban or osama or anything and they didnt take action until something happened to them. afghanistan had just won a 25 year war with the soviets and then the taliban came along. and no the taliban were not afghans, mostly mislead men from pakistan and saudi arabia. The taliban took away all means of happiness from the afghan people women lost all their rights[they had more under soviet rule] they would suck out their culture [as in dancing parties art games etc] destroying one of the most amazing works, the two buddha statues. These statues took years and years to build and in just a mere two seconds the taliban blows them up. and most of all they completely skewed islam with their extremist views. And during the time of the taliban a wealthy man from Saudi Arabia came to war torn afghanistan. Why afghanistan? I mean he cant even speak dari or pashtoo and is not afghan. Well there are many reasons why. First of all afghanistan has now been in war for over 25 years and so the country is falling apart meaning their is not one major force that cant threaten his plans. Second the taliban are in control and with his money power and his arabic ties he can keep the people in line and do what he pleases. Third afghanistan has alot of beautiful mountains and he can hid in them! [ps I want to also inform people that their are no deserts in afghanistan. you may think so because you may have come to believe that afghanistan is a middle eastern country but it isnt. the last m.e. country is iran. afghanistan tajik. uzbek etc fall under central or south but anyways thats a mini rant in this long rant : D] Now america is informed that this saudi man is training his troops in camps in afghanistan....lets think for a moment....a rich saudi man+extremists+anti-western beliefs=terrorism!!!! can anyone be that retarted that they cant understand that?! but the problem is the us didnt think of it as much and concentrated on more important issues. But there is also a reason that 9 11 didnt happen earlier because their was one man that was stopping them and he was an afghan citizen of panjsher, ahmed shah massoud. He kept watch on osama's activities and fought against the taliban and osama's groups, with his own rebel groups and himself. Massoud also had ties with america and he asked for assistance so they could stop them together. Massoud said that he wanted the afghan people to fight for themselves like they had against the soviets but they needed help to get back on their feet. Afghans lke massoud had no money no weapons no families and all they had was their country. Massoud knew that he could not take down the taliban by himself so he asked america. but did he get help? no. instead america kept putting this issue aside and two days before 9 11 ahmed shah massoud was murdered. AND AMERICA GOT NEWS OF HIS MURDER. ok lets stop and think again.....the man who was stopping osama from advancing in his plans was murder......so now there is no one person or force that can stop him! and what did america do about this? put it to the side and bush went to go read some books to children : D. you wanna know why he didnt walk out of there all worried is because HE ALREADY KNEW. there is no way in hell that bush could not have known about osama the death of massoud or plans of terrorism. and 9 11 is the result of america's bad actions and not doing something before hand. and so this is where we are today. and whats the result? america killing millions of harmless citizens and orphans, making people get the wrong idea of islam, and most importantly the americans only see one side -- but anyways I'm pooped from that long rant D< and why I know this much its because I'm a tajik from afghanistan go me![/size]

1. Millions? Think that might be an exaggeration? 2. Were giving people the wrong idea of Islam? Thats just wrong. Look. Islam needs to control itself. No getting violent and killing people over cartoons, for one thing. No need to go out and shoot up a school bus (which one man did) after that. Point is, Islam itself could do its part to clean up its own act before blaming everything on the U.S., which everyone likes to do. When those cartoons came out, the Muslim community was upset, which I understand. They tend to go a little overboard. This is what I find ironic about the whole thing... Islam: These cartoons are SO incorrect and racist, implying that the only way we protest is to be violent and blow stuff up! World: Yeah, well what you gonna do about it? Islam: ....Blow stuff up! Yes, granted, 99% of the muslim community is "peaceful," with the riots and so forth. The other 1% is what we're trying to crush (and they must be). That 1% doesnt want to compromise, as many on this board have said we should try to do. They want us dead. The more chances we give our enemies to stay unchallenged and grow in strength, the more danger we put ourselves in. Have we learned nothing from World War 2? "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke No one ever said the War on Terror would be easy. I truly believe we are entering one of the most difficult parts of human history to date. This war can be won, if you have the guts. Iraq is a mess, yes, and one we must resolve. Recently a man who specializes in war strategy came to our school to speak about Iraq and the War on Terror. According to him, contrary to what many think, invading Iraq had nothing to do with oil. Trust me, if we want oil so bad, all we need to do is speak out publicly against Israel, which I am strongly against. Israel has always been a close ally to us, and we should never leave their side. The invasion of Iraq was because of faulty intelligence stating that Iraq had WMDs. Even besides that, Saddam deserved to be taken out of power anyways, gasing his own people and all that. Yeah, we may have given that to him, but we didnt tell him to use it the way he did. Another point he made was that this war is radically different than. Vietnam. In terms of tactics, yes it is somewhat similar, as its a guerilla war. But Vietnam was fought over very different reasons. Now he made it clear that no good solution for Iraq at the moment, but we need to "pick the least horrible brand of castor oil and take it down immediately." I have two options for Iraq, and ill put his up first... Plan A: Do our best to make the 3 religious groups compromise. To do this, we need to be able to support the Sunnis one day, the Shiites the next, and the Kurds another day. Focusing on one group will do nothing. We need to get them to compromise on a partition, say where the Sunnis control the army, the Shiites the police force, and the Kurds the intelligence. This would make power very balanced, without one side in fear of another side exterminating them. The problem with this is, however, that with Iraq divided into sections, other countries such as Iran and Syria could easily roll in and exterminate one side. That is why an out of country peace keeping force would be needed. Though unfortunately at the moment, the U.S. would seem to be going it alone in that scenario. The U.N. cant be depended on for anything. Plan B: Say Plan A fails, the shit hits the fan, and Iraq blows into complete chaos. An option, though certaintly NOT an ideal one, would be to start by pulling all our forces out of Baghdad and central Iraq and pull back to the border. Once the Sunnis Shiites and Kurds have slaughtered each other, we come back in and take whoevers left out. We then give Iraq to Israel. Keep in mind this is a worst case scenario, in which thousands of Iraqi civilians would be killed and the international view of the U.S. would go down. Messy as hell, but its a plan. Well thats all ill say for now. Commence the flaming. |
