In the middle of dawn. Staring at the twilights.

Since I'm not from the US I don't know much about the topic, but I'm sure there might be many ones in here that would like to know and discuss about this. Actually I'd like to see what Sadhana has to say about this, since she seems to enjoy discussing about political things.

Anyways, long story short, this Republican (Mark Foley) had exchanged nasty emails with some guy (I won't go into details about the guy, just to make you read.) and was discovered. After that, he (Mark Foley) resigned.

Discuss.

I can only touch on this quickly (have to go to work in 45 minutes), so I'll give a more detailed response about this later.

I was totally out of touch with the news this weekend. I was just super preoccupied with homework, fights with my boyfriend, and family issues to deal with the news. So I didn't find out about this until Jon Stewart mentioned it on the Daily Show last night.

If you want my non-Anti-Republican view of this, it's just gross. I know that there are a lot of sickos out there, but it's horrible to know that one of them ended up in Congress. However, if you want my total and unfiltered opinion... it's shameful, but I'm almost glad this has come out. With only 5 weeks left until the mid-term elections and just when the Republicans looked like they were closing in, this piece of news is revealed. I know that it's horrible and low to be nearly thankful that a young teen was subjected to this guy's sick games, but I want to look at the bright side. To me, that bright side is that this might be just what the Democrats need to get a majority in Congress this November (especially considering that the GOP leaders have known about this anywhere between 60 and 11 months ago).

Ever notice how a Democrat does something dumb and it gets tucked away in a little news column, and when a Republican does something dumb, it's "ZOMG FRONT PAGE!" Only thing that bugs me is that Foley moron gives us decent Conservatives an even worse name.

We are number one. All others are number two, or lower.
Yep, that's why the Democrat President Clinton had his affair tucked away in some safe little news column. ^_^ Sorry for the sarcasm, but I didn't much care for that comment. I think both sides are kept in the open personally, but Republicans often are supposedly considered more moral and we're supposed to be shocked by it. I apologize if this doesn't sound very coherent right now, I'm having a horrible day today and am pretty sick on top of it, so when I'm better I'll try to say more.
