Well, all of us were new to the web in general and new to discussion boards/forums, of course. (God, after the very first post of my life I waited about a month to see until I dared to write the next one - I just kept expecting someone to scream out how stupid I was...) I talked about this with some people and all of us managed to introduce ourselves with a really stupid thread or post. So, what did you do that clearly screamed out "Newbie"...when you were still new to the world of internet communication. I, for example, started my "web career" with an Aeris-revival-thread, of all things . |

Fan Japanese. OMG T3H HORR0RZ. I first started my "online career" joining a mailing list for the anime/manga series, Flame of Recca. I was EXTREMELY hyper in my introduction post, with all the emoticons and doodads and such. But what I'd smack my old self the most for would be all the terrible fangirl Japanese I flung around Back In The Day. I couldn't go one post without screaming "KAWAAIIIIIII~" or "KAKKOI!" somewhere. And the most embarrassing would probably be all those times I seriously advised new anime fans confused by "kawaii", "kakkoi", "hentai", "ecchi" and the plethora of fan Japanese words out there. Like I was some expert or something. And I mean SERIOUSLY, full paragraphs, spelling corrections and all. Oh, the embarrassment stings to this day.

Newbie webpage design. I used Geocities' page designer, hot pink comic sans ms font everywhere, frames layout with navigation and animated gifs down the left hand side, default link colours that clashed horribly with the other colours on the site, no image thumbnails, no resizing of images so they ended up taking forever to load... My design skills aren't much better now, but ah well. Oh, and fangirl Japanese, same as you, Lynn. *cringe* The author's note at the end of every chapter of my early fanfics would say something like "Gomen for the wait. I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Ja ne!" and my reviews of other people's stories would always have the word 'kawaii' or 'sugoi' in there somewhere. God. |

Funny topic. I'm still pretty new to my "online career." This was the first forum I was ever really active on. So if I had to choose one newbie embarrassment of mine, it would be when I lurked at Strifeheart, and then created a topic about it here. Oh Gosh, it burns to admit it. But hey, my intentions were good since I only wanted to see what their arguments were as Cloti never really made sense to me.The worst part is that it really wasn't that long ago, but I think I've at least learned a lot since then. Thank goodness that topic was closed and stored away in the thread graveyard, so I don't have to be totally ashamed of myself. |

Oh my...I think I'm still quite the newbie.
Goodness! I used to do that too! Now whenever I think about it I can feel my cheeks burning up while I cringe in disgust and shame! Another one of my newbie moments is when I used to SPAM so much in the Under 1000 club...Remy had decided to stop us and then some people started to do it again. That's when AmayaSaria started the Chitchat thread in the SPAM section. So, if you're wondering why the Under 1000 club has so much pages, I'm your answer. |

"I'll cut them off" O.O

This would be the pinnacle of my noobiness. My online vocabulary at the time had consisted of KEWL and other similar embarrasing words. My old geocities website... -_- Please keep in mind that this was over 6 years ago. http://www.geocities.com/mistacloudstrife/ I had AOL, my thought processes were very infantile, and I wasn't even a teen yet. I've already given this website away to a friend who in turn didn't do crap with it. -_- Wow... I've had this screenname for a long time. EDIT: Oh God... Alright, I've gone through my old site. It's embarrassing so anyone who goes to it please don't post about my Aeris shrine on here. >_> |

I never really did anything stupid, but I was so....noobish, if you will. Spelling errors all over the place, short, chopped sentances, using forums for talking to someone, instead of just discussing stuff....I started out on Neoseeker, so it was pretty bad sometimes...I sometimes go back and read those threads, and I cant belive how young and stupid I was, not to mention a bit arrogent. |

I started my little "web career" with a couple of shrines that made no sense and I posted on this forum called Square Insider where I would randomly squee about anything I could. I also recall a certain post I made after I beat Final Fantasy IX... the shame. <_<
All of the spelling errors... I was an idiot... the shame of it all. "Ezy" *shudders* |

Oh, very funny topic indeed, Sternenstaub. I had a good laugh reading through all you guys' posts. I'm extremely guilty of having n00b phases. My first forums were mainly Zelda-related fanfiction/fanart sites, and I was the dumbass whose replies in fanfictions were typically, "YAYY!!!!! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY! STORY..." etc., until I'd stretched the page to a point where you almost couldn't navigate it. If I were suddenly face to face with eleven-year-old-Luna, I'd sock her good. So, eventually, after being told to calm-the-frick-down several times, twelve-year-old Luna moved on to being a hyper debater who didn't know what she was talking about. Sure, I used proper grammar, but my replies did include a lot of the "Look at that word choice! You're trying to sway people's opinion to be x, which is similar to y in the context, so you're trying to make me think y and IT'S NOT WORKING, BITCH!" sort of thing, and lots and lots of spelling/grammar corrections for others. Can we say pain in the ass? That, and I was extremely emo. I'd throw a fit if anybody argued against me and try to make them look stupid. And then I'd come crawling back the next day and apologize my poor, pre-teen heart out. XD And would you believe that thirteen-year-old Luna was *prepare yourselves, everybody*... a rabid, stark-raving Final Fantasy FLAMER? :o You read correctly. I didn't understand FFX (the Sphere Grid baffled me because I didn't read the directions), which was my first FF game, so from then on I would bash anybody who tried to tell me that FF was better than Zelda/Tales of Symphonia, which were my current favorites. I wrote huge essays trying to prove that real-time battle systems were better than turn-based battle systems, or how boring the storyline of FFX was. Ah, the pungent scent of bitch is in the air. But, yeah, hopefully I've gotten over all that. But if you tell me I haven't, I'll throw tons of exclamation points at you, try to prove that your word choice is sloppily subliminal, and insist that all the games you like are gay. Eat that, sucka.

Lord Me started its forumite life on some Shaman King "MSN group". Said group was basically full of spammers, ergo I saw that as "The way". Once Lord Me found out about the manga, time had come to search for a forum that held disscussions about it. Once it was found, mine n00bishness came as well, yet by watching the way people posted I thought that "The way" maybe wasn't correct, yet Lor Me still left out some vowels, and stuff. Once, a guy made a thread about the last manga chapter, nobody belived that and some people flamed him (not Lord Me, obviously), after a while, Lord Me started spamming with another member about our post count, someone made a sarcastic comment about it, and Lord Me learned; never spammed again, at least not in Non-Spam sections. Fin~
Thou hath not.

omg. This thread is awesomely funny.Let's see. I was actually a pretty good internet newbie, I can't remember anything too bad that I've did on the net. Hm, if I had to pick it would be the 'newbie web design' that Madame Batolli talked about. I had heinous websites, awful navigation, hundreds of pop-ups, etc etc. Yeah, but this is my first foray into a forum with so many members though, so I did have my fair share of embarassing n00bness. Too much exclamation marks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! Meaningless posts, maybe a "omg i agree!!!!!!" thrown in somewhere. And I was pretty open about my dislike for Tifa too, in my intro post and all. *shudders* How did you people put up with me. xD The event that I remember the most was Aly catching me for posting off-topic during my first few days here though.
Omg. That's awesome. I'm glad you've grown out of that! Can't believe how n00bish we can be in the past!!Edit : OMG MISTACLOUDSTRIFE. Your...your Aeris shrine is LOVE. I'm sorry, I couldn't resist! It's not....that bad....but very uhm. Interesting.

I think it was when I was about 12 and I first came to the internet. I logged onto some DragonBall Z forum and I was like "OMG! Hiyas! Goten is the best!" That was my intro xD And while I was there I got warnings a lot because of my mainly pointless posts, I would respond in threads just for attention. I believe there was something about computer problems and I posted "Welcome to my life," And I think I was getting all rabid fanboy about the new Sonic game and would post constantly about it xD Yesh, even I was an ebal n00b/rabid fanboy xD |

-laughs- These stories are great. When I first came to forums I was on Neoseeker, and acted like I knew everything...Which sadly, about the forum I was on, I really did know practicly everything about it. XD I was obsessed, horrible. I'd always try and reply first to people who needed help with something. I had a horrible attitude though, and ain't there a story behind that... So on the Neoseeker forum I was on, the mod was a guy named Jacobpower. He didn't step in for a few months, in fact, none of us knew he existed untill we started joking around and getting a little off topic a little too much. Well, one day, I got pissed and posted a thread telling him to go away because we were fine without him. He almost banned me. XD I look back on it and laugh, but I still agree with it. No one liked him, so I don't regret it. |
