But There Has To Be A Remake!; I'm sure you've heard this all before.

Don't you think it would be logical for them to do a remake of FFVII? I mean if they're going to make a movie that is a sequel to the original game, and have the graphics be phenomenol compared to the polygons we saw in 1997, and have a compilation that only adds to the story, then why the hell would they not redo the original FFVII? They have stated it is possible. It would only be right to complete the compilation in such a manner. Therefore, I am 99.9% sure they will do a remake, and the only thing holding them back is the cost and time that it will take them to do so. Which is why I think they're stupid.

As a fan I would have been completely satisfied with a remake of the game and the sequel which was the movie. Everything else like the Dirge of Cerberus, the anime, and the cell phone games are totally unnecessary. They should have devoted all of that time to recreating the original world of FFVII and enhancing the quality so that it can last for another generation. Not only that, but they had to torture fans by making a demo of the game just to show at a conference.

Luckily, Nomura has a good head on his shoulders, and many sources claim that once he is finished with all of his other projects like Kingdom Hearts, FFXIII, and so on then he will devote his time for the remake. In fact, he has stated that it would be higly interesting for him. I believe it will happen, but we'll have to wait a little while longer, and it will most definitely be introduced on PS3. They may even announce plans during the ten year anniversary of the game. Many magazines have rumored this and even Best Buy have sent out pre-order forms.

However, there are going to be some serious problems. I mean there is a lot of mature content in the game such as Barret's constant swearing and the brothel. So it will be very interesting to see how voice actors and the new and improved graphics will portray that. My prediction is that the game will be the bestselling remake ever made. I have faith that the game will still maintain its quality and then some!

P.S. I read in an interview in which Nomura has constantly been in talks about a remake, and they were even considering a sequel, but they realized it was not possible, so instead they made the movie!

Way I see it is that it's really a matter of time. Doesn't it seem to anybody else like they are remaking the games in order? I and II were compiled and redone on the GBA, then III was redone on the DS, now we have a redone IV on the GBA too. If there is any real pattern here V and VI are next, then we see VII redone in all it's glory. Thats what I think and what I hope happens.

PS3 is where it will happen for sure. For the most part, ever since Sony brought the first one out Square threw their hat on the ring and have stayed put. Sure there are a couple here and there on Nintendo systems, but mostly the earlier ones. All the new ones stick to the Playstation systems. Square hasn't even really touched the X-Box systems.

About quality, this is Square. They may have made a stumble or two along the way (adding pop music in X-2?) but all of their games I can think of have been consistantly solid. I never believe any crap I've heard about the franchise being killed by popularity or anything (especially about the new battle system for XIII, like Final Fantasy hasn't changed it with each game). If they were to remake the game, it would rock. No disbelief in that from me.

There's always the chance they won't do it, but something tells me they will. Call me stupid if you must, but I think they will do the remake.

Thank you for replying. I completely agree with you. I think the remake will be totally amazing, and I get really happy just thinking about it. :cleris: With the hooplah going on right now, the game is sure to be a bestseller.

I also agree that they have stumbled along the way, as good as Final Fantasy X was, it still had its kinks. I wasn't a big fan of the linear story line, and there were too many cliches. On that note, it looks like Final Fantasy XIII looks way better than Final Fantasy XII.

Well, it does looks like SE is milking FFVII clean. More money for them, I suppose. Better graphics doesn't mean anything to me if the story is still the same. I'm not really for the remake unless something wonderful arises.

Also take into consideration the rating if they put in better graphics. If they show the brutality of Aerith's death *like blood spurting out of her wound* then they might get a Mature rating *which Square doesn't want* And if they put out the game in today's graphics, they'd have to add blood in that scene or else it would just look fake and unrealistic. I mean I'm hoping for a remake as much as the next person! The graphics I'm sure would be outstanding. And of course, I know we all want to see Cloud dressed as a woman in *hopefully* CG. ;)

That is a great point Imaginary girl. And taking away some of the audience would be a shame even though I thought this game was always a little more mature than the other final fantasies.

But I would enjoy a remake as well, and I think it would be nice to introduce this game to young gamers. Even though I still think the story is so good that the graphics shouldn't matter but I am biased.

I think they'd be stupid not to make a remake. Think of how much money they would make? How many new fans they would collect? How many new Claris and Cloti fans they'd gain?! :woot: :woot:

I have said this many times, I am strongely opposed to a FF7 remake. Just leave the game alone! The actual FFVII game is being ruined with all of these add ons to it and they are still continuing it. If the game is remade I can asure you there will be changes, to please the fans.

Changes could be anything, from just a small change in the battle systems to conversations being altered, more Cloti fanservice added in and so forth.

I would say get over FFVII and let the next numbered FFs come our way.

Edit: I just read your thing about the blood Imaginey Girl, but I think blood would completely ruin the romance of Aerith's death and put off some fans. Also there is the legend of Sephiroth's sword, the Masumane that doesn't cause blood to drip from the warrior it has attack. There is a topic about that somewhere here...

Yes, blood would ruin the romance. I agree. But I'm talking about fans who wouldn't understand that whole concept. In fact, my friend loves FFVII and he wants a remake, too. But he said to me the other day "Megz, you think they're going to make a remake? I hope so, the graphics would be amazing. Imagine scenes like Aerith's death, the ending, and when Sephiroth is defeated." and he just went on. He thinks that blood is required to make the game better *don't ask me why* but I'm just talking about the fans who think if there is a remake, there will be blood added to some scenes. I'm hoping they do Aerith's death scene without the blood. But also to me, that would sort of make it unrealistic in a sense, I'm going to be honest.

And I read that topic about the Masumane and my cousin also said that was true. So if they withdraw blood for that reason and along with the romantic reason then thats a different story. I do believe that Aerith's death was romantic and should be altered without blood. But what I'm worried about is the realism. If they can do that scene without the blood, and make it make sense, then that would be better I think. Because I agree, blood would just take away the romance of the scene.

A remake for the graphics only is ok, but i think it would be a waste, buying the ps3 just for ffvii...ain't that a lil extreme? well, me and my siblings already planned to buy that, no allowance in one whole year, no gifts for birthdays to have teh PS3!!! I just need patience...oh well...what's bothering me is here in the Philippines the pricings are high n expensive, nonetheless, I found this country cool, their official pinoy (is that the correct spelling?) music is cool!

BAck to teh topic....

Somehow, the remake is giving me the heebie-jeebies for some reasons. what if they cut out some cxa lines and moments? NOOOO!!! but did SE just confirmed that there's no remake? hopefully...no remakes for me the meantime.
