Just a Nobody

I would say that's out of Cloud's character to do that. And I wouldn't really like to see the blocky FFVII characters to kiss  |

I wanna say yes....but I voted no... ....Aeris already made a big impact in the game, if she had more time in the game it would've been nice, but it just wouldn't be the same. It was a great (but very sad) way to end the 1st disc. Aeris only being on the 1st disc, and having such a big impact on Cloud after there short time togther really makes their love strong. And having Cloud remember her throughout the game is really heartwarming. So yea...those are just my thoughts. |

I'm actually undecided on this one, but I voted yes just to be a biased fangirl. I think that the timing of Aerith's death was perfect, and probably always will. We had what I consider the most precisely well-planned amount of time to get to know her and fall in love with her as a character. The steady increase of empathy building up between Cloud and Aerith was really nicely done, but still in a way that's subtle enough so it doesn't SCREAM Cleris, and Square still rakes in money on the LTD. So I really, really liked that aspect when I look at it in retrospect--Cloud and Aerith didn't have to be together for two more discs for people to form strong opinions on what was going on between them, whether those opinions are positive or negative. But it's still my personal belief that Cloud and Aerith definitely would have ended up an item if their time together had been extended by, like, one more day. I first played the game and was completely convinced that the romance was going to happen, and it kept building up and building up until we hit the temple of the Ancients, Cloud's last vision of Aerith, and, of course, the Forgotten City. You have no idea how much I was crossing my fingers that he was going to hug her or something when the team found her safe on the altar, and when Sephy made an Aerithkabob right under poor Cloud's nose, I think I about went into conniptions. I played KH before I played FFVII, so of course I had already made the assumption that Cloud and Aerith had a wonderful, bunny-filled adventure together, defeated Sephiroth, and lived happily ever in Disneyland. But I do have orange jello for a brain, so I should learn never to follow my assumptions. The question is, could Square have pulled off a happy ending with Cloud and Aerith? AC did it, and it was nicely done, too, but it's still up in the air whether Cloud and Aerith could actually be an item now that...well, he's the only one who can see her. I'm about 97% sure that the love triangle would have ended Cleris if she had lived. But would it be better than the lovely open-to-interpretation stuff we have now? I guess we'll never know... but I'm dying to see what Nomura's planning for that mysterious FF7 compilation ending he's been talking about.
