"I'm alive thanks to a lot of people. My parents, Mrs. Levy, Mr. Gaskin, everyone from the Search Team. People who are still around today, people who aren't. Tifa, Cloud, Marlene, and..."

there are unfinised word after Marlena, I wonder is Danzel wana refer Aeris? coz I think Aeris has cure his geostigma and she is one of the people who are not around anymore... Can anyone tell me is he refering Aeris? Coz I wana know that did Danzel know about Aeris... :P

It's possible that he's referring to Aerith, but you have to remember that On the Way to a Smile happens before AC. So Aerith hadn't cured Denzel's Geostigma yet. We don't know for sure that Denzel saw Aerith at the end of AC, either, although it was implied that the children could see her.

It's hard to know how much Denzel knows about Aerith. We know it'd be hard for Cloud to talk about Aerith, so I doubt that Cloud's ever had a long talk with Denzel about her. I wouldn't think it was that easy for Tifa or Barret to talk about Aerith, either, although they'd probably tell Denzel more about her than Cloud would. If Denzel learned about Aerith from anyone, I'd guess that Marlene would tell him. If the subject ever came up, I'm sure Marlene would fill him in.

Yup I agree, but the reason I said Danzel mention about Aeris becoz the story dialog btw he, Reeve and Johnny is happen 4 yrs after FFVII end. And they were talking about the past which is what happen from the begining of FF VII to the end on Danzel view, then Danzel keep talking the experince until he meet Tifa, Cloud and Marlane... and so on the following we know in AC. Thus I think inside the dialoge he speak with Reeve was, he had cured his geostima... and that's y he said he was alive thanks from those who dead n who are not dead.. and the uninished word refer to Aeris...( I think so... :P )

In my opinion, the time line should be:

-> FF VII (start)
-> MoTP ( what happen in FF VII on Aeris view)
-> CoT ( After end of FF VII)
-> FF VII AC ( 2 yrs after FF VII)
-> DoC ( 3 yrs after FF VII)
-> CoD ( On the way to a smile) ( dialog of 4 yrs after FF VII)

I hope it's make sense

Hmmm... you've brought up an interesting point, Great Gospel. I always thought that Case of Denzel happened *before* AC, mostly because I took the title On The Way To A Smile to mean that it happened before Cloud's smile at the end of AC.

The site where the novel was translated saw it the same way:

On a Way to a Smile is a collection of two short stories, Case of Denzel and Case of Tifa, both set in the two year gap between the end of the original FFVII story and the beginning of the movie Advent Children.
Source: http://xthost.info/ffwebnovel/

However, this is said near the beginning of Case of Denzel:

Four years ago, when the Life Stream came flowing out from the earth, many residents believed that it was the downfall of the Midgar. Those who tried to flee from the city with their possessions couldn't make it.

I know that Wilhelm has the Ultimania. Would you be able to clarify for us when Case of Denzel takes place, Wilhelm?

According to several posters on ACF when the story was being translated, the narration for Case of Denzel takes place four years after the game in Johnny's bar. That would place it after AC and DC.

However, the events that were narrated (Denzel's past) started during FFVII itself and continued into the two years before AC.

Awesome, Great Gospel, I found myself wondering the same thing when I'd first read that part. Great to know I'm not the only one. :D

I wouldn't be surprised if Cloud, Tifa or Marlene explained where the special lake in the church came from (I'm guessing either Cloud or Tifa would have told Denzel, since they seemed to be the ones who most sensed Aerith out of AVALANCHE and drew the connection with the water), hence Denzel's gratitude.

Was CoD published online before AC? I think it was. If so, it'd made sense that they didn't mention Aerith directly for fear of revealing the ending of AC.

That's putting it more specifically, but yes... it *starts* two years after AC, but the main part of the story happens during FFVII and two years before AC.

I think Marlene probably sensed Aerith in the Church at the end, since other children did. Remember the girl with the moogle doll telling Cloud that "Big Sister told us you'd come back here"? Marlene also sensed Aerith at the end of FFVII along with the other children in Kalm, and children see Aerith's spirit in the Church in FFVII if you go back to visit in Disk Two.

At any rate, I think any of them would explain to Denzel about Aerith if he asked about the water. Then again, Cloud or Tifa may have explained to the whole group of children, since probably all the children were wondering how the water cured them.

We were getting the first reviews and summaries of AC between August 31 and Sept 1st. We made the Tru Wub Tifohnny club on September 7th when we got the first translations of CoD. Remember there was a mistranslation that made it sound like Tifa and Johnny had gotten together after AC? :lmao:

Good point! And Cloud definitely knows the water = thanks to Aerith, and some children can even see her, like the kids in the church at the ending of AC, so somehow or other it's highly likely Denzel and the other kids will have to know about her and what she did. Cloud and Tifa and co. wouldn't let her deeds go unnoticed, I'm sure.

Wow, so it's probably refer to Aeris  Therefore, can see how important is she in FF VII, everything with FF VII has a connection with her :P even after AC

Yup, in the end where when Cloud saw Aeris spirit , there ware 2 children were talking and waving hand to Aeris too, so I think most of the children can see or sense Aeris. Yeah~ everyone will know the existant of Aeris... :D
Actually, she is really like a mother for Danzel and the other children... cure their suffer (geostigma). And my sis had said once, the scene in AC which Cloud pour water to Danzel head is like the father (Cloud) and mother (Aeris) cleaning or curing the son wound  , that's really warm... :cleris:

who is johnny? What does it say in this story about Johnny? I also remember it saying somewhere in the story that Tifa asked Cloud if he loved her and then he woke up with a dubious (confused, fraught with uncertainty, doubt, undecided, questionable) look on his face and then she changed it and said do you love marlene

Goodness, don't you remember who Johnny is? He's that dude in FF7 - Tifa's childhood friend. You meet him a few times throughout the game, outside Don Corneo's mansion (where he calls Aerith Cloud's girlfriend, I might add ;) ) and Tifa also spends the night talking to him in Costa De Sol.

In the stories, Johnny is running a bar and it was translated that he really admired the way Tifa had rebuilt her life and takes her as an inspiration. I don't quite remember if it specifically stated he still had feelings for her.... but I think it's pretty obvious anyway that he likes her. ^_^

Yep, yep... but when we got the first translations of the story, there was a mistranslation that made it sound like Tifa was pregnant with Johnny's child! It was hysterical! :lmao: That's when we started the Tru Wub Tifohnny club.

But it turned out to be a mistake in the translation, and it got changed. :giggle:

I haven't played the game in forever, so I have no clue who Johnny is, but I remember a little. I'm curious what did the translation say that it was misinterpreted?

:lmao: Ah, yep yep! That was hilarious! I also remember poking quite rabidly at my monitor, wondering where the heck Cloud was and why there was no mention of him at all and OMGTIFOHNY!!1!.

I guess it was because Cloud doth not exist in Johnny's eyes, only Tifa. ^^;

Great Gospel

The impression I remember getting was that Johnny had realised his love was going to remain unrequited, as Tifa's devotion was solely towards Cloud, and he started admiring her from afar. Quite a gentlemanly act of stepping back gracefully, when you think about it.

(And perhaps because he wouldn't survive too long a duel with Cloud for the fair Tifa's heart. )

My point is, Cloud's feelings for Tifa is irrelevant and impossible to conclude based on this, because it was Tifa's feelings that concerned Johnny, not Cloud. He realised that Tifa loved Cloud and not him.

... *is slowly liking Johnny more and more*

:lmao: I just realized that Johny is almost like a male version of Tifa! They're both in the same position when it comes to romantic relations, bars and children! :lmao:
