To touch the light I see in your eyes...

I like the accents that DH did, too! Cid might be better with an Australian accent, but I like the ideas! Bad news about the release date. RPGamer reports that Sony denies ever having announced a release date:According to German website GameStar, Sony is reportedly denying ever having officially given a release date for Advent Children. As of now, there is still no confirmed date for the European or North American release of this film. We apologize for the confusion. Source: http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q1-2006/020906b.html |

Multi-cultural accents is a great idea, but I think it must be difficult to find talented voice actors who can do a decent accent without sounding like a cheap imitation. I've heard a VA who tried to speak English with a Japanese accent in a certain game (he was voicing a Japanese soldier around the WWI time), and it was very... painful... to listen to. I would much rather have the AC characters speak in some mysterious, universally common accent instead of enduring stilted, badly-done different ones. (Actually, I would much rather have AC in Japanese with English subs, but for some reason, SE never gives this option. Never. Didn't happen in FFX/X-2, didn't happen in KH1, most likely will not happen in AC. >_<)
I thought the KH1 VAs did a decent job portraying the flatter personalities of the FF characters in KH1. I'm not as convinced of their abilities in portraying the whole range of emotions that come with the FFVII cast taking centre stage in AC. Steve Burton did a great job of making Cloud sound lost in KH1, but how will he fare when Cloud faces his enemies in anger/determination in AC? But I rarely have faith in English VAs for the most part, anyway, so this is no surprise. I just don't want Cloud sounding flat to my ears in AC, something that's very easy to do considering his personality throughout the movie.
... It must be really, really bad that I'm not even surprised by this news. |

Snoogans!

I'm not suprised either, Lynn. I figured that if Nomura was being so picky about his voices that they wouldnt just up and pick the KHII VA's, as they are probably super busy with that project right now anyway. |

Personally i am EXTREMLY exited that Steve is doing Cloud in AC; he is brilliant in KH. As a matter of fact David was really good as Squall; which i wasnt expecting since i'm used to him as Angel. But it fit. Aerith sounded nice too; wonder if its the same VA... i'm too lazy to check. Despite a lot of baseless objections, i actually liked Bass as Sephiroth in KH. |
