Now, some of you may have read from the old that the article was a fake. Well, turns out that KL was only claiming he was--saying it only took him 9 days to write and all that stuff...For more info, you go to the other VA confirmation thread.

So anyway, from Yahoo News:
Yahoo News

Zach Braff, James Woods, Haley Joel Osment and Mena Suvari will lend their voices to the video game "Disney's Kingdom Hearts II," which hits U.S. stores on March 30.

The game franchise blends well-known characters from classic Walt Disney Co. films with original characters from Japanese game maker Square Enix. In this sequel, for example, Braff again will star as Chicken Little, Woods brings Hades to life, and Ming Na will play a virtual Mulan,

The original "Kingdom Hearts" game, which shipped in 2002, has sold more than 5 million units worldwide. Osment will reprise his role as Sora, the lead character in the role-playing game, who journeys through Disney film worlds accompanied by Goofy and Donald Duck. He will be joined by David Gallagher as Riku and Hayden Panettiere as Kairi. Christopher Lee, Brittany Snow and singer Jesse McCartney also play featured characters.

Suvari will portray Aerith, a popular character from Square Enix's best-selling "Final Fantasy VII" game. Other big-screen talent joining her include Steve Burton and Rachael Leigh Cook.

In a first for the franchise, the new game will add characters from such live-action movies as "Tron" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." A trailer at last year's E3 video game convention showed the likeness of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow within the "Kingdom Hearts II" game world, for instance.

"Kingdom Hearts II" also features the worlds of "Hercules," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "Aladdin" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas."

In addition to the original game, a Game Boy Advance spinoff called "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories" sold 2.5 million copies worldwide to date. "Kingdom Hearts II" shipped December 22 in Japan (minus the Hollywood voice talent) and has sold more than 1.1 million units. Square Enix expects the worldwide total of this game to sell 10 million units by the end of its run.

So, you guys don't have to say good-bye to the 'lovebird' quote :D.

Square Enix have revealed the voice talent lineup for Kingdom Hearts II, and it's even more impressive (in terms of celebrity quotient) than the original game. We've put together a handy chart of whose voices to look forward to hearing in the game. Take a good look at the list, as some of the voices you see here will also appear in a highly-anticipated Square Enix release coming soon...

[Insert Pic of Christopher Lee] [Insert pic of DiZ]
Christopher Lee has played the nefarious Saruman in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy as well as Dr. Wonka in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

I'm officially beyond psyched about KHII. And I guess I'm *trying* to put some faith into Jesse McCartney, even though I hate his music more than fat kids hate raisin bran. Who knows, he could pull it off--I was pleasantly surprised that VAs like Mandy Moore and Christy Carlson Romano did so well in the first game. So I like to think that the casting crew knows what they're doing, at least a little bit. ^_^

Mwaha! *squees dutifully*

Thanks for the update, PinkRibbon! Yahoo didn't cite a source for that article, so I guess there's a good chance the article's legit and not based on the EGM piece (not saying the latter isn't legit, but two different sources are better than just one, I should think).

Glad to see some familiar faces among the cast list. Christopher Lee... ah, the name sounds so familiar, but I can't place him!

Agreed, I'll give the newbies a chance before passing judgement. I mean, this IS Disney we're talking about... they should know good voice-acting better than anyone, right? I don't care if the VA is some teeny-bopper popstar or whatever, as long as they pull off a decent job in the game.

But then again, I also didn't mind Lance Bass as Sephiroth, so... :P

In the middle of dawn. Staring at the twilights.
Mena Suvari as Aerith? I think that all the girls that hated Many Moore as Aerith's VA, would kill for her to continue as Aerith's VA, rather than Mena.

Is Lance Bass still Sephiroth's VA? I'm already watching it:
*Cloud and Sephiroth dissapearing in the skies*

Sephiroth: Come on Cloud, say it.
Cloud: Shut up.
Sephiroth: Bye, bye, bye.

Someone please tell me he won't continue as Sephiroth's VA.

Searching for my light.
He shouted out a few phrases when you fought him in KH 1, nothing major, but they were really good lines. And his voice sounded perfect to them.

"Iam the chosen one"
"The planet and I to be one"
"Desend heartless angel"
"I will lead you the promise land"
"Dodge this!"
"Meet your fate!" (Or is it "Meteor of fate!"?)
"The planet... it failed me!" (When he loses)
"Power!"
"Come..."
"Surrender!"

I can't find a link to any clips

I thought his voice fitted Sephiroth too. It's lighter than Sephiroth's seiyuu, but I hadn't heard the Japanese version at the time to make a comparison. But I thought it fitted.

It won't be the end of the world if he doesn't take up Sephiroth's role again in KH2, though. I'm not sure myself if he'd be able to handle anything more than the battle phrases. ^^;;;

Mena sounds A HELL OF A LOT better than Mandy Moore. Aeris isn't supposed to sound like a CHILD. So I am happy. A person's voice has nothing to do with how "sweet" they are. Aeris's voice needed an edge to it. Feminine yet knowledgeable and mature. None of this "TEE HEE I AM A PINK LITL GURL" Mandy Moore crap.

So lawl to ya haterz. ^_^

Yes, I think Mandy Moore did a good Aerith, but I'm looking forward for Mena's voice in the game as well. Soooo... ^_^

As for Lance Bass, am wondering if Disney is at tuned with the internet to figure out he was was generally hated. I don't mind Lance Bass, considering all Sephiroth did is attacking left and right, but now he actually has a role in KH2, maybe they'll get someone who has a stronger voice.
