Advent Children.net reports that Nomura was given the Best Visual Designer award for Final Fantasy VII Advent Children at the recent Digital Content of the Year Awards. Nomura was unable to attend the ceremony, so Producer Hashimoto Shinji accepted it for him. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Hashimoto said, "Final Fantasy VII Advent Children has made quite an impact as it's the first direct sequel to a Playstation console game that isn't a game itself. And that's not all. We have more spin-offs planned for the line-up." I wonder if that means SE is planning more FFVII spin-offs, or spin-offs of other Final Fantasy games? Here's the full article:Date: 04 Feb 2006 Posted by: Zexion Following its recent announcement of winners for Digital Content of the Year 2005 a.k.a the 11th AMD Awards, the Association of Media in Digital (AMD) has held an award ceremony in conjunction with it. Digital Content of the Year 2005 a.k.a the 11th AMD Awards covers works that have been released, or otherwise planned for release, in Japan in the span between 1st January - 31st December 2005. Nominees are judged based on works which content or media are digitally focused, and the winners are awarded based on their achievements within said works. Heading this year's panel is GyaO. On the gaming front, Nomura Tetsuya from Square-Enix bagged the Best Visual Designer award for the recently released Final Fantasy VII Advent Children while the Best Technical Achievement award goes to the internationally acclaimed Takara no Kame bite-sized robots, Walkie Bits (see: http://www.takaratoys.co.jp/walkiebits/ for more info). Mr. Nomura was unable to attend the ceremony himself, so his teammate, Producer Hashimoto Shinji, attended as a corporate executive to accept the award in his stead. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Hashimoto said, "Final Fantasy VII Advent Children has made quite an impact as it's the first direct sequel to a Playstation console game that isn't a game itself. And that's not all. We have more spin-offs planned for the line-up. In the field of computer graphics, when it comes to movies and games, it's a given that when people think movies, they think Hollywood and when they think games, they think Japan. However, in the case of FF7AC, I'm confident that it's something even staunch moviegoers can thoroughly enjoy. And so, I'd like to dedicate this award to all the staff who has believed in the possibilities of fusing game with movie enough to make it a reality." "Right now, Nomura's going pretty head over heels for the international edition,"Mr. Hashimoto added. "He's completely immersed himself in the digital studio, spending countless days and nights there. " As a final note, he clearly announces, "Please sit back and watch as we show you how much Japan can broaden its horizon." Source: Advent Children.net |

It sounded like more FFVII spin-offs are planned. I think they have milked that game enough. I would like to see movies for other games (KH, for example, or one of the other FF games). |

More spin-offs? I'm all for it, as long as it's not more indecisive plots designed solely for pleasing fans. Well, I hope Nomura works extra hard on the upcoming projects.

It's good that Nomura is gaining more confidence in his work, but I have to agree with FF_G. I think and would love for him to focus on the other FF games other than FFVII all the time or start producing original FF sequels again. I mean look at the FFVII Compliations?! There is CC, BC, DoC, AC, not to mention all the novellas for Aeris, Denzel, and Tifa. I almost forgot to mention Cloud's side story in KH. I think that's more than enough focus on FFVII for now.

Well if you ask me it is no surprise,ff has the best visual design of any game out there hands down. The artists who made ff7ac are the best graphic designers/character designers, hands down. It blows me away,so why not everyone else,eh?. |

In the middle of dawn. Staring at the twilights.

Well, for me there's nothing surprising in this either. AC had some visual effects I've never seen in any other stuff, trying to compete against those graphics was something impossible, so the winner was pretty much blatant from the beggining. Regarding the possible spinn-off, that's another thing that doesn't surprises me at all, they've been pretty much obvious with this Compilation; it has meant a lot of money for them so its really difficult they'll stop miliking FFVII. |

Oh my...more FF7 spin-offs? Not to be critical or anything, but I'd wish Square would stop focusing on old favourites and make up something new. <_< |
