Didn't really know if this should be placed here or not, but since it does discuss Aerith's Great Gospel (which, te-ten, happened in AC), I thought maybe I'd place it here anyway.

If I placed it in the wrong forum, please forgive me.

Also, if this has been discussed before and I was just too lazy to look through the forum to find it, I'm sorry too. It just occurred to me. Yeah, I'm slow like that.

I was wondering if the Heaven and Earth theme is a symbolism for Cleris.

I mean, it's a canonical fact that Aeris' name is the Japanese Romanization (is that how it's spelled?) of the word 'Earth,' right? Aeris is even colored that way -- her hair is the (really underappreciated) color brown, the color of the earth;her eyes are green, the most common color of earth vegetation; and I suppose one could even argue that her clothes, red and pink, are the predominant colors of flowers, which are, technically, the parts responsible for plants to reproduce.

Cloud, on the other hand, is colored really lightly. Blue (minus Mako poisoning) eyes, which are the color of the sky; his hair color could be argued as the color of the sun, which is in the sky; and his very name connects him with the sky. Though there are a many varied explanations explaining Cloud's relation with his name, that is not my point, so I shall refrain.

So, okay, maybe NOT heaven, but it's the sky, so . . . yeah. That. >_>

Plus, Aerith's limit break is Great Gospel, which AC proved she acquired. The rain which contains the water from the EARTH, condenses it into a CLOUD until it forms into the rain--something that connects the SKY and the EARTH.

And isn't a connection with Aeris something Cloud seems to have been wanting?

...or I could be spouting nonsense. Any thoughts?

Moonlight Sonata of Cloud ...
I get what you mean, the point you made isnt that uninterested but, unless SE dont say it, you can just speculate, it's also possible that all that stuff is just a coincidence...

But i like that EARTH-SKY-CONNECTION stuff ^_^

I think the earth!Aerith and sky!Cloud connection is too much to be a coincidence, but I think the rain and Aerith's Great Gospel was. Still, it's a rather nice link you found, parikala! It's reminiscent of a poem from Bleach, also about rain connecting the hearts... Will post it here when I find it. ^^

Additionally, I immediately thought of this picture when reading your post:

Oh, I don't mean to say that S-E planned it as a symbolism, only that WE, as fans, could interpret it as such. I like the fact that, together, Cloud and Aeris make a whole world. In mythologies, worlds often start with the earth and the sky, before giving birth to everthing else. ^_^

Yey! I was hoping someone would say that. There are too many hints associated with them for it to be incidental, don't you think? Their names could also describe their personalities quite well. Cloud of the FFVII game seems to have been drifting a lot without a definite direction, what with his mercenary status and identity crisis. He seemed lost for most of the game, in limbo. Aeris, in comparison, was solid and dependable and knew exactly what she was and what she had to do.

Ah! You got it! I've been thinking about that the whole time I was writing that post. "This reminds me of something, this reminds me of something . . . rain connecting hearts, WHAT WAS IT?!"

Thanks so much for reminding me. :huggle:
