I'd love to join! ^_^ I've always been a fan of Lucrecia, and think she's a fascinating character, so complex and mysterious and absolutely beautiful. Her personality and motivations are so ambiguous, which is partly why I find her so interesting. *must write ten million fanfics about her sometime in the future*

I think her character needs more love in the fandom though; a lot of the time I see her either neglected or written-off by fangirls too protective of their chosen bishie as some horrible evil lady for rejecting Vincent and being willing to experiment on her unborn baby. Cut the girl some slack, people. <_<

So yeah...I'm a huge fan of Lucrecia, and would love to join and spread the love. :huggle:

I've been wondering.....Lucrecia, to me, didn't seem like the one to just leave somebody like Vincent for Hojo. So that got me thinking more. Why DID she leave Vincent.

After awhile I came up with some theories...and this one I liked the best.

Lucrecia, if I remember correctly, worked for Dr. Gast(Aerith's father) for some time. I'm sure Dr. Gast and Lucrecia were friends, and probably shared some secrets...Like Dr. Gast falling in love with Ifalna. He might of slipped out a few secrets or two to Lucrecia. She must've been happy for him.

Then Dr. Gast probably told Lucrecia about his daughter. He must've been really happy and excited--like new fathers are. She must of realized how happy he was.

Then Shinra got on his tail, trying to hunt him down. Dr. Gast, could've said some words to Lucrecia about how he wanted Aerith and Ifalna to be safe.

At the time Lucrecia probably felt useless, and the only way to slow down Shinra and Hojo was to destract them with the Jenova cells, and creating Sephiroth.

I can just imagine Lucrecia going "Even if helps only a little.....I want to help them in some way."

Anywaya....that was just a little theory of mine, sorry if it didn't make any sense...

You've got some real interesting ideas there, AmayaSaria. ^_^

The thing is...how do we know that Lucrecia left Vincent for Hojo? From what FFVII shows us, there's no solid evidence to indicate that she was romantically involved with Vincent in the first place. She never seemed the type to just drop one man for another in my opinion either, so maybe it's easier to understand if she was never going out with Vincent to begin with? Especially as there's nothing that overtly hints otherwise.

Your Gast theory is really interesting (in FFVII, it's stated that Lucrecia was his assistant, and I've always thought that they would've been very close too, as they've probably worked together for years), but I'm pretty sure that Gast only met and fell in love with Ifalna AFTER the Jenova Project had already taken place. I'm afraid that FFVII's timeline disproves your theory. :(

You see, when Gast and Hojo first discover Jenova, Gast reaches the conclusion that she's an Ancient, and it's only after coming into contact with a real Ancient years later that he learns that he was mistaken. The Cetra aren't human, so without any record of contact with one since they were (apparently) wiped out, there was no way of telling how different they were in appearence from normal people, so Gast's conclusion that Jenova was a Cetra is logical - but if he'd known Ifalna around this time, then he couldn't have classified her and Jenova as the same species.

You've also placed Sephiroth's birth after Aeris', which the timeline also disproves - Sephiroth is somewhere between 25 and 30 and Aeris is 22, so she couldn't have been born before him. When Hojo confonts Gast and Ifalna at the Icicle Inn, he states that he's been trying to track them down for 2 years - which means that Gast ran away with Ifalna 24 years prior to the game, which is 6 years after the Jenova Project was approved - so Sephiroth would've been a young boy around this time, and Lucrecia long gone. All of the conflict involving Ifalna and Aeris took place years after Lucrecia died/disappeared.

Also you have to keep in mind that the Jenova Project was a big deal to the scientists involved, and to Shinra, who were funding it. It had a lot of significance to them and it was Shinra's major investment at the time. The aim of the Project was to create a human with the power of "the Ancients", and this is what Gast, Hojo and Lucrecia were all trying to achieve, and what Lucrecia was willing to give up her unborn child for. Even if timeline didn't clash with your theory (which it does - Gast hadn't met Ifalna yet and was still the guy in charge of the Project at this point), it's still not very plausible that Lucrecia would use the creation of Sephiroth as a distraction because the significance of discovering a way to create a lifeform with Jenova's cells in it (and not mutating horribly) was too incredible for it to be an idea Lucrecia formed merely as a distraction, you know?

Anyway, I'm sorry if all that somehow seemed rude or bitchy, I didn't mean it that way (pointing out holes really helps refine a theory anyway, imho), and I just wanted to maybe start up some discussion and thought your ideas would be a good place to start. So I'm sorry if I offended you. :huggle:

Aww, count me in! This poor girl deserves to have more fans! ^_^ I liked her more after playing DC and thought she's been misunderstood in the FFVII game~ ^^; I loved how they showcased more of her personality in DC~ ^^ She's been through a lot in her life, but still never gave up hope and i really liked that! ^_^

Please sign me up. Although I must say I am LucreciaxHojo *dodges bullets from rabid vincentxlucrecia* and Yuffentine. ^^;;; I always thought that they were BFFs and Vincent had developed a crush on her while she just saw him as a friend. Still, I love Lucy (yes, I call her Lucy) to death. She was the balogna in my balogna sandwich when I played DoC. :D

*pokes thread with a sword*

Well, its quiet around here. . . but I shall join and hopefully make things a bit more lively. ^_^ I love Lucrecia. The girl made some mistakes, but ultimately she did what she could to make up for it. Totally loved her in DoC. I was always disapointed that we didn't get much of her in the original game, so it was nice to see her developed more. So. . . yes. ^_^
