Aww, don't worry about posting pics of your kitties! I know how much you must love them! They're really cute! That's so weird that Brutis crawled into a sleeve, cat's will do anything for warmth, I guess. My cat loves to lay on the computer monitor because of the heat it gives off!
Thanks! I love kitties myself! I've always been a cat person.

Since I'm much, much, much too shy to post my own photo online, I'll post my pets' instead. First, some history. And settle down, this will take a while. ![]() A long time ago, my family got a puppy from my dad's friend. She was a mongrel, and painted like a cow (white base with big black spots). So my brother and I smartly named her Spotty. Spotty grew up, ran out of our house one day and got herself knocked up. In several months, four puppies were born, and we kept a female pup. Spotty was given to my aunt to keep. That female is Ginger. She's short, just like her mother was, which thrilled us since we like small dogs. Her head just reaches my knee. As her name would imply, she had brownish, ginger-coloured fur that is paling with age. In the fine tradition of her mother, she ran out of our house one day and ALSO got herself knocked up. We didn't realise it until several weeks later when she looked a little tubby. My mother was pleased that she was feeding Ginger so well, until I joked that maybe she was pregnant. After that my mother couldn't get the joke out of her head, and it turned true when Ginger gave birth to six puppies-- three girls and three boys. We kept one girl, because my mother loved female dogs since they were purportedly easier to train. Trying to give away the other female pups was a !$@#, since everyone wanted male dogs for some reason. Anyway, we named that girl Bubbles. I don't believe it was after the Powerpuff girls, but we were already running out of names so maybe it was. Bubbles has rich, dark brown fur and is also a shorty dog. My brother was a meanie and kept scaring the poor thing when she was a pup, lobbing little pebbles at her and sometimes even using his slingshot. As a result, poor Bubbles grew up most of her life a little bit of a basketcase, and when she's scared she'll lower herself into a ball and stick herself to the floor like superglue. Bubbles did not follow her mother and grandmother's footsteps by running out and getting knocked up. No, hers was delivered to the doorstep by Mother Nature. Basically, my brother accidentally opened our automatic gates, and a rabid horny male Spitz dog came running in and... traumatised my poor Bubbles. <_< My mother tried to use a hose to separate them, but it was too late and the horny bastard dragged Bubbles right to the road in front of all the neighbours (and there were neighbours out because it was evening) and it was then that my mother realised she had no choice but to let nature take its course. So... yeah. I wasn't at home when it happened, so I had to listen in horror as my brother and mother recounted it to me later. It's quite a conversation-starter. Another six puppies were born, two of which were female. Unfortunately, I think Bubbles was too new at this mothering gig, because the females died. We buried them just outside our house. Against my mother's better judgement, we decided to keep one of the males-- the other three were snatched up like hot cakes. That male, is Beckham. I think we christened him that when news of Beckham dominated the newspapers, which is the only reasonable explanation I can think of since none of us are football fans in the least. Beckham is handsome, whiny and loved to run out of the house whenever possible. When he was a pup, our house was being renovated on. One of the construction workers left our side gate open. His chain broke, and he was out through the gate in a flash. We searched the entire neighbourhood for him, but he was a small pup and went missing pretty fast. My brother was inconsolable, but nothing could be done except to hope that Beckham found his way back to the house on his own. It didn't happen, and we went on holiday at Langkawi for a week or so. Then we came back. I was playing the PS2 in the living room one day, and by chance turned to look out the window-- and I caught a glimpse of a familiar, bushy-white tail. I leapt out and started screaming "Beckham!!!" like a football maniac, and he responded. That was nearly a month after we first lost him. That is also a good conversation-starter, and much less awkward than Bubbles' one. Anyway, I opened the gate, he slipped in like he'd never been lost, we've never let him run out since then, and the family has been reunited. ~FIN~ ![]() Recent photo of Beckham as he nimbly slid between our legs and climbed into the backseat of our car. It was the first time he'd ever done it. Shame we weren't going out, though. Recent photo of Bubbles and Beckham loungin' at our front gate. Their ears are set back like that whenever theyget scared, which was probably caused by the evil digital camera I kept waving at them. Bubbles has since made an about-turn to become rather aggressively fierce, BTW. We think motherhood made her angry. |

OH MY GAWD BECKHAM IS JUST THE MOST ADORABLE THING YOU COULD EVER LAY YOUR EYES ON!!!! Look at him, with his fluffy fur and tail! Such a nice colour too!!! Aaaaaaaawwww!!!!! *melts*Hahaha, I couldn't stop laughing at your traumatizing dog tales, Lynn. Poor poor Bubbles!!!! Oh dear,Aww Sora kun, Jack is so cute!!! So is yours, Blackwind!! Though I'm much more of a dog person than a cat, those kitties completely warm my heart! ![]() Why hadn't I noticed this thread before?!?!? Time to go dig up my old pet photos....

Thanks, yin-chan! Haha, he's your favourite too? All my younger cousins absolutely adore him too! We think it's the fur. My brother picked him out of the litter, and other than the times when he uses my mother's car tyre as his toilet, we've not regretted it. Beckham's had a bit of a rough life, so he's also kinda like Bubbles in being a scaredy-cat (or maybe it's genetics). He never barks at strangers, but WILL bark at other dogs, which is... useless. My mother's so annoyed by that, but his handsomeness is what's saving him from the pound. ![]()
Yes, poor Bubbles! It's quite the family drama.Although with Beckham, our family line has been cut off. We're not in the habit of breeding our dogs on purpose (note that all the pregnancies were by accident XD), so with him, Spotty's line hath ended.

Your poor traumatized dogs!! Beckham is awfully pretty for a half-bred. Most people never realize that mongrels can also be loveable companions and only shell out thousands of dollars for pure breds. <_< It's like doggy discrimination. If anything, humans should be sent to the pound!!! *is a huge animal lover* Okay, I've dug up some old pet pics. Time for me to force all you lot to read the Wonderful Lives Of Yin's Pets!!! Oh my, this turned out LONG.This goes all the way back to muh childhood, take note. When I was a little girl, I was animal obsessed. I was addicted. I couldn't live a day without talking about them. I wanted to grow up and be a vet. (what on earth happened to that pure yin within me?! T___T ) I begged my dad to take me to the zoo every other day, and every weekend I would beg him to take me to the nearby polo club so I could stand there for hours stroking the horses's noses. As a result of my fanaticsm, we had .... *takes deep breath* two parrots, 12 lovebirds, 6 terrapins, 2 rabbits (which gave birth to a while litter of baby rabbits which their mother then killed. T__T ), 3 dogs, 1 magpie, 1 wild chicken (found injured that we took in), one rare wild songbird (found fallen out of his nest and half dead so we nursed it back to health), a few chickens, a hamster, and a huge tank full of aquarium fish. Now what happened to all these darling animals? Well, it's a long story over the course of years. The fish were happily swimming in their well-lit, beautifully decorated aquarium one night when all of a sudden the light bulb malfunctioned and cause a strong electric current to rip across the entire tank, instantly killing every single one. Out of the six terrapins, three escaped when my brother foolishly set them down on the ground to see how fast they could run. The remaining three grew to a HUMONGOUS size till in the end, my dad decided it was animal cruelty to keep them penned up in their little tank, so we all went to release them at a temple where no one could catch them and eat them for dinner. As for the chickens ..... erm... I'll not say what happened to them, but Lynn should understand. ![]() The parrots were lovely. One of them even learned to say, "Welcome home, Yin & Juin!" (me and my brother) when we came home from school. Lovely. That was an Australian lorikeet, bright and colourful with a plumage to blind the eyes and as friendly as punch. The other was green with an orange beak and was not as hyper, but could still bring himself to say "Good morning!" and eat kuaci from our fingers. They were named 'Lori' and 'Polly' respectively. One day, Polly got it into his feathered little head to investigate the latch that keeps his cage locked. At this time, only my father was at home. But some wondrous birded means, he managed to unlock the cage and went out. Lori screeched in warning and my dad came running downstairs to see what the fuss was all about. In alarm, Polly flew to the main gate and rested on the brick wall, as if mocking my dad. My dad grabbed some kuaci and tried to coax Polly to come back down, but Polly was adamant to enjoy freedom. So he spred his wings and flew far far away. Sometimes we see a bright green parrot flying about out area. I have no doubt it is Polly. Well, after Polly's Great Escape, Lori became awfully depressed. She was lonely and wanted a companion, something we couldn't give her. So with heavy hearts, we took her to the pet store so someone else could buy her and give her a new playmate. *sniff* The 12 lovebirds stayed with us for a long long time until half of them died from old age. This broke my mother's heart so much she gave them away to a friend. My father's magpie, named Robin was the most beautiful magpie you had ever seen. The fine smooth feathers, all fat and healthy and sleek, and the songs he sang! It was heaven to sit and listen to him sing all day long. He was the happiest magpie too, with good food, a large cage, and occasional treats of worms and crickets. He also got into fights with wild magpies - and won them all. Amazing, as he's in a cage and the rest are free. He's also killed a snake, which tried to eat him. So incredible. He was tame too and would flit around our fingers when we went near him. Every weekend we give him a bath and he loves that. My father loved him exceptionally and went to talk to him every day as soon as he got back from work. Well, one day he woke up and went to say Good Morning to Robin as usual, who had the luxury of sleeping in the house at night. Sadly, Robin was dead from old age. He'd been with us many many years. Since I was born, in fact. My father wouldn't talk to anyone for days after that and vowed never to keep another bird. Unfortunately for him, we found injured birds (refer above) and nursed them all back to health. But we let them all go when they were healthy, all except for the wild songbird, because he looked a little like Robin and my father was getting fond of him. But then he decided he was getting too fond - and gave him away to a family friend. Now onto the most important parts -- my DOGS!! ![]() Our first dog was 'Ah Blue'. He was around even before I was born. He was a mongrel, white with brown patches, and he was FIERCE. He barked, growled and bit everyone and everything. The only one that could handle him was my dad, and they were insperable. Sadly, Ah Blue was infected with ear parasite and had to be put down. My dad's first animal heartbreak. Then I was born. And one morning the vet came round with a little bundle of surprise. It was the most darlingest little Pomeranian puppy you could ever see. My dad didn't want a dog after Ah Blue, but my mum fell in love with the little thing. So my dad gave in and shoved up the $$$ moolah for our first puppy. (yes, she was expensive, being pure-bred, certs and all). My mum was delighted, and christened her Gina. Gina was ADORABLE. Sadly, she was subject to much torture from me and my brother who were juust kids. My brother would try and hit her, and I would play hide and seek with her, then scold her if she made any noise. Oh dear, poor Gina. But we grew up together and we loved her with all our hearts. Every day when we came back from school she would run yapping madly to greet us, her tail wagging so fast, and jump on us, licking every bare bit of our skin she could see. She was the Lickiest Dog alive!!! For a little dog, she always managed to push me over and we'd roll on the ground laughing from her tickles. I loved Gina. Words cannot express how much I loved her. She would creep into my room at night when there were thunderstorms because she knew I would be awake and frightened. She would fall asleep in my lap when we watched a long movie on the television. We went for long walks together around the neighbourhood. She would fall asleep with my brother everytime he played the 'Suikoden' midi on his computer. She would hide behind his dustbin when it was time for a bath. She would jump into the car everytime we wanted to go somewhere, invited or not. She was the lady of our house, everything revolved around her. We spoilt her, feeding her secretly off the dinner table, tending to her every whim. She would get it into her mind to go out and sunbath in the middle of the lawn, and then no one could get the car to go out, because she would refuse to budge. She was truly the Lady of our home. But we loved her anyway. I even bought her a most magnificent collar to wear, but she was modest and refused to wear it by obligingly trying to scrape it off with both paws and ended up being stuck with her paws around her neck and looking miserable. The next addition to our household was my best friend, Romario. He was a mix of cocker spaniel and terrier. My mother's friend gave him to us when he was a mere puppy. I came running out of school and hopped into the car, when I first laid eyes on him. Sad, scared, cold and bewildered without his mother and siblings, he just looked at me fearfully like I was Godzilla. SO ADORABLE. So I squeed and fondled him and made a complete fuss out of him - and on the way back in that car, he suddenly rested his head on my lap with a contented sigh. I was the first person he'd ever done that too. That started the bond and a friendship that would last a lifetime. Gina was indignant about Romario. He was a rolly-polly playful puppy and often jumped on her and hurt her without realizing it. Annoyed by being taken advantage of by this impudent young boy, Gina would reach up as high as she could and tug sharply at his whiskers to keep him in check. It was hilarious!!!!! Very often she would lecture him about what was right and wrong. Once he dug a massive hole in the garden, but we didn't have to say a word. Gina did all the scolding! Those two were amazing together. Then came the next addition. My brother was ill and my mother took him to the doctor's. Outside the clinic, they found an abandoned puppy. This one was a poor mongrel, brown with black markings. She was cold and lonely and confused, and my brother's heart broke. So they took her home. We christened her Brownie. I spent every afternoon with her, until my brother became quite jealous, because he'd wanted her for his own. (tee hee) She stayed with us for a while, until my dad decided three dogs was too many, and gave her away. My brother was so upset. We loved her though, and I mourned her for quite some time. LOL, I wrote essays about her in my diary! One day, we came home from high school. There was renovation work being done to our front porch, so we ran in like usual, calling Gina's name in high voices. When no little doggy bark answered us, and no mad bundle of fur flung itself at us, we became anxious. "Gina!! Gina!!" we called again and again, but there was no answer down the empty hallways. Then my brother suddenly grabbed my arm with a cry. I looked to see why he had turned so pale - and there in a box lay the stiff, dead body of Gina, her eyes still open. Gina lived to be 14 years old. The vet said it was a miracle, because usually pomeranions die around the age of ten. He said Gina must have been looked after really well and lived happily to be able to live so long. Grandmother told us Gina had been tottering slowly throughout the house just before we got home. She was tottering painfully up to the front porch to wait for us to return. Poor Gina. She must've wanted to greet us one last time before she goes. Thinking about it still makes me cry, even now after so many years have passed. We buried her with our own hands, in our back yard. I've never seen my brother cry as much before. We showed her body to Romario, who sniffed and looked mournfully up at us with his soft brown eyes. My brother dug her grave himself, and covered her with the soil, tears streaming down his face. My grandmother stood nearby and chanted some sad Chinese prayer (LOL!!) I was holding in my tears but the sight of the soil slowly falling over Gina was too much and I broke down in the middle of the garden. My father watched us for a while, but I think the old memories about Ah Blue was too much for him to bear, so he left with a pained expression on his face. At first we thought he didn't care that Gina was gone - but late her summoned the gardener to build a beautiful lay of bricks around her grave and plant some beautiful flowers - so I know he cared. Later I came down to find my mother cooking as usual - only this time she was crying and the tears were falling like rain onto the plate she was holding. And my brother - who was Gina's best friend - refused to eat for three days. So now we were left with Romario, who was rather lonely without Gina, but still the same madcap dog as ever. He was my constant companion, always snuggling up to me whenever he was in the house, and once or twice took Gina's place in sleeping with me during thunderstorms. Every evening he's gamboll madly around me as I helped my father around the garden and we'd play marvellous games of Catch and Fetch and everything in between. Then he'd lay his head in my lap and snooze while I sit on the cool backyard steps, fondling his floppy ears as my mum cooks. He's getting old now too. My father says it won't be long till it's his turn to go meet Gina. Plus, I had to go abroad to study in Australia, so I always have this cold fear that one day my dad will call and say that he's gone. I would say that's my biggest fear these two years. Every year before I leave I give him the biggest hug and tell him not to forget me, and to wait for me to come home, and he'd lick the tears off my face. And every year when I come home with my huge suitcase, he'd have kept his word and be jumping on me like long-lost friends. Words cannot explain to what extent I love that dog. I love him more than life itself. I would seriously die without him. He's the only one in the world that I can talk to about anything, and always responds with a loving nuzzle. He's the only one that's seen me with bad hair and cramping like mad and cranky out of my mind, and doesn't even flinch when I snap at him, instead just snuggles up even more. He's the only one that completely accepts me and understands me no matter what. If I'm in a bind, if I've just had a fight with my mum, if I've had a bad day at school, if I've been crying my eyes out, if I'm as lonely as hell, he would always be there for me. Sad to say, he's the thing I miss the most about home. Maybe one of the reasons why homesickness and loneliness are so problematic for me is because I don't have him with me here. That's what I feel, at least. Romario is so irreplaceble in my life. Even if I ever got another dog, I don't know if I'll ever love like how I love Romario. Sadly, neither Romario nor Gina ever had any puppies, so there are no doggies to continue their legacy. Oh well. I don't have pictures of Gina because they're all back home in Malaysia, but I have some adorable shots of Romario! He loves the camera, and dreams of becoming a Supermodel someday. Sometimes he gets into the Festivities and gives our doggy love presents. Other times he's just lazy and likes snuggling at Feet. He also has a cat Fetish, but most times he's just plain old Grumpy lil fella. ^__^ There are many instances where he's just Adorable, especially when Food is involved!!! And no matter how many times he takes a Dump anywhere or gets into trouble, he's still in our hearts the Best Dog On Earth! <33 |
