Tears in the Rain

It's weird when you think about Marlene.... She wears her hair just like Aeris(right down to the pink bow ) She seems to love the flowers when Tifa and her visited the church (she hums, strokes the flowers) It funny when you look at Tifa.. she looks slightly annoyed or maybe she's urgent. I'm guessing they've been there for a while. She was raised by Elmyra for most of the time in ffvii. Even if Elmyra isn't her mother, she still openly looks after Marlene(Like Aeris). She also lost both her parents, and then was taken care of by an adoptive parent. (more Aeris similarities) She calls Aeris "sister", when Aeris lets down her rain to cure the Geostigma. It's like Marlene senses her. She says in the begininng of Advent Children that "someone I really like became a part of the lifestream" when she barely knew Aeris at all, And she even said "I won't tell Tifa." when Cloud gives you the choice of "I don't know" "or lets hope so" (If you choose "I don't know" she calls you a "dummy" ...hah what a smart girl ) I'm thinking Marlene is a little Cleris, or maybe Marlene realised that Aeris saved her life and she considers Aeris her idol.

Marlene's hairstyle was, I think, in tribute to Aerith (much like the pink ribbon everyone in Avalanche wears somewhere on their person). Very sweet, non? Even though Marlene and Aerith had little time in terms of actual interaction, Aerith just had a special way with people. She left a lasting impression, I guess. Not only that, but Aerith helped get Marlene to safety at the risk of her own life and she's genuinely a nice oneechan. ^^ I'm guessing Marlene senses all that. d: |

Hee, yes, I think so too. I think Marlene looks up to Aerith as someone she wants to be, and I can't think of a better role model for the kid. She already showed some of Aerith's fiery spirit when she threw that materia at Loz!
Now THAT caught me by surprise when I first played the game. When Marlene asked Cloud that question, I was expecting her to root for Tifa, having lived with her and all. Imagine my surprise when I chose "I don't know" for the heck of it, and she called Cloud a dummy!

Cloud's Stalker<3

Its funny this topic was brought up, because I was just thinking about this last night when I was watching AC xD I believe the same as Key said. Everyone wears pink ribbons in tribute to Aerith (except for Denzel, because he never met her), because she had made some sort of vital impact in their lives. However, Marlene was probably the one who looked up to Aerith the most because she saved her life (Probably as a sister figure, which explains why she refers to her as "Older sister" in the movie). I can imagine that Marlene was devestated when she heard of Aerith's death, and wanted to do something special in honor of her remembrance. So, she styled her hair to look as much like Aerith's as possible, even accompanied by a nearly identical pink bow (Maybe it is the same bow Aerith had. I mean, it did fall out of her hair when she died, so maybe Cloud gave it to Marlene to keep in remebrance of the flower girl whom saved her life... Just a little analysis I thought of.). Also, notice that Marlene is starting to look a little more and more like Aerith as she grows up. She even put her hair in the same style Aerith had, minus the outrageous bangs. (Maybe Cloud wanted her to look a bit like Aerith. You know, just so he could have a little light to brighten his day sometimes.). Marlene kind of looks like a young Aerith... sort of. They almost have the same facial features (smile, concerned expression, etc.), except for eye color. She even acts a bit like Aerith. Strong willed, determined, sweet, caring, and has a love for those flowers blooming in the church. Who knows, maybe our little Marlene will become the next Flower Girl, selling them for 1 gil <3 |

I really expect that as Marlene grows, she's going to look more and more like Aerith. Her hairstyle is modeled after Aerith, the only exception is that, yes, she is missing the bangs but I expect those to grow in further as she gets older. You can already see traces of the braids that hang by the side of her face because of a few strands of hair that stand out on the sides of Marlene's face. Provided that Marlene does grow up to look like Aerith, I wonder what Cloud's reaction to that will be? Especially if Marlene and Denzel end up together, he might see his relationship with Aerith mirrored in the children. It's bittersweet to think about, really. |

If you payed attention to that part in AC, you'd know that when Marlene was saying "onee-san" looking out the window it was just like the time when she did it when Meteor was crashing down on Midgar... Cool stuff. ^_~ Anyway, Marlene was the first person(And maybe the only person) to realise that she was the one who saved the planet from Meteor. So she's most likely the one who has the most respect for Aeris(Knowing that she saved the planet by sacrificing herself). And Marlene, being young and very impressionable at the time probably decided at that time that she wanted to be like Aeris. You have to admit, Aeris would be a pretty good Role-Model... An I'm sleepy right now... I might continue this post later. ^_~ |
