Did anyone else notice that most of Tifa's lines consist of "Cloud!" or "Wait Cloud!!"

Hey, Hey, it's like Pumba, he's smarter than he looks. ;_; Like the time when they're in Traverse Town in KH, when Sora first arrives there. XD;; But hmm--these are interesting, thank you Neph! (Since I can't memorize those numbers if I spent all day on it. XD)

It makes a helluva lot more sense saying "The light does not suit you" than "I can't let you do that" It's wonderful!!

maybe she wants to give him her light, but it can't help him. Only Aerith's light can.

Hmmm...after reading the translation I kind of noticed a slight Cloti reference particularly this part: Tifa (to Cloud as he stands in front of Sephiroth): "I'll give you my light, so--" Sephiroth (to Cloud; He seems pretty pissed off about this, and gesturing like mad): "The light does not suit you." Cloud: "I--I don't understand." But then again...reading between the lines says otherwise. The light Tifa is so willing to give may not suit Cloud probably because it's not the light that he needs to conquer his darkness or defeating his darkness doesn't necessarily mean someone else's "light" should be given up. It's all inside Cloud's heart. If he could just let it out then he may conquer this darkness. I think the lines above somehow destroy the Cloti pairing. I dunno...just my opinion. |

Haha, that's exactly what came to mind when I read that, too! But I think that line, if anything, provides perfect insight into Tifa's role in KHII, and her similar role in FFVII. She helps Cloud to discover the inner feelings and memories he has, but eventually discovers that his true self was in the part of him that Aerith was searching for. (MoTP showed us that it was Aerith giving Tifa a push through the entire Lifestream event, and I think Tifa could finally sense all the help she had gotten when she said her famous line at the end of AC--"So you were with him all along. Thank you." or something to that extent.) Ultimately, I think Tifa realized that she was not the only light Cloud had, and she wasn't really needed as much as she originally thought, but the fact that she considered this option helped Cloud to find his real light in the end. This light is, of course, Aerith herself.

About Aerith being Cloud's light? I think it's become way beyond obvious at this point. The relationship between Cloud and his "light" and "darkness" in KH1 was expressed in the sense that Cloud's light was defeated by his darkness at first ("I tried to exploit the power of darkness, but it backfired. I fell into darkness, and I couldn't find the light."). Cloud himself officially confirmed that Sephiroth is his darkness, and even GOOFY can see that Seph is the "embodiment" of Cloud's darkness. However, this makes it ever more clear that Cloud's "light" must have an embodiment as well, and since the embodiment of darkness for him is a person, the embodiment of light must be as well. However, it seems that he cannot be with his light until his darkness has been eliminated, as shown in KH2 when he cannot stay in Hollow Bastion. He must leave and battle Sephiroth, but he says he "will always come back," wherever he goes. Aerith tells him that he can always return so long as he knows the light in his heart. Since Cloud knows he CAN come back and is willing to do so, I think it implies that he "knows" his light, as Aerith said. Aerith then proceeds to mention in a non-rhetorical way that this is why she should stay at Hollow Bastion, implying that she is connected to their home in a strong way that has something to do with her place in Cloud's quest to vanquish his darkness. It seems that they have a strong understanding of one another and get that she can't come with him--perhaps out of fear that she will be harmed by his darkness. It is very clear, in any case, that Cloud wants to know where his light lies at all times--his home. As long as he knows that his light is with his home, he can return to Aerith and Hollow Bastion. Romantic or not, I think that Aerith staying there is a representation of this in a very powerful way.

I don't get why you are so pessimistic, Ally. I think you're listening a little too much to the rabids who have no sense of reality. Best thing to do is stop listening to people saying what the newest Tifa rumors are and just look at the game itself. That's why people here are so sure of themselves. |
