"That particular scene is just..wow. Looking at this scene as well as the other one where Cloud/Tifa vs Sephiroth ones really make me think Tifa is Cloud's light. I mean, in this scene, when Tifa called out Cloud's name, Cloud immediately saw light coming from her direction. And also during the showdown of faith ver. 2, Tifa gave Cloud her light. Hmm...

The whole supposedly Cleris moment is simply hilarious! Aeris did her cute posing thing and Cloud reacted by moving further away from her. And when she stand normal, Cloud, too return to his previous position. His answers to her questions are just...XD But then again, this is KH!Angst Cloud we are talking about. His replies are always cold and straight the point."

Talk about grasping at straws, OMG HE MOVES AWAY FROM AERITH AND THAT MEASN HE LOVES TIFA COZ SHE SHINES! What happened to this whole "KH doesn't mean a THING about the relationships!! All Cloud did was look at Aerith anyway blah blah!!!"

At least he promises to return to AERITH once he finds his light, the only thing he does with Tifa is fight abit, wow, so romantic ^_______________^

Now, Sora didn't know who/what his light was in KH 1 until much later on did he? I believe once Cloud deafeats his darkness (Sephy) he will find out that his light has been THERE ALL ALONG! Aerith! Just like Kairi was with Sora all along.

I'd hardly call Tifa anyone's light, she's just not that special :P

:lmao: where do ppl see these things XD

well anyway if I'm not mistaken Kairi's heart was inside of Sora (how cute) So in this case his light WAS indeed inside of him.... I wonder if this has any relation with Aerith's line "as long as our hearts are connected"

Getting the translations was my pleasure. :D

Ah, this thing with Cloud's light and all that is beginning to confuse me. Would someone remind me what this whole light thing means in Kingdom Hearts?

Light means many things in KH...it meant finding the strength within yourself to overcome the darkness...it also metaphorically represents a person that is dear to you, someone that could give you the strength to fight on.. for eg. Kairi is seen to be the "light" of Sora..

I used to strongly believed that Aerith is the "light" of Cloud...but now I'm not so sure anymore. Like most of you have figured, SE has introduced more ambiguity into Cloud's mini story and now it seemed like the light of Cloud can be interpreted to be the strength within himself/Aerith/Tifa etc *shrug*

AND I DON'T THINK THERE'S OTHER CLOUD AND AERITH SCENE

Er, ok, calm down. I meant, just the scene she was talking to him before he left, I considered it like a part of his side story, since she was talking to him before he left. She had pretty important line too, saying that he would return and stuff. That's all...

Ah, yes. Thanks slowerthanaverage.

I thought she was his light too, but now it looks like they're dancing around the issue again in a concerted effort to make Cloud's relationship with the girl ambiguous.

To touch the light I see in your eyes...
So far, I don't see that Nomura is contradicting himself. He has made the interpretation more ambiguous, but I've seen nothing which proves that Aerith isn't Cloud's light.

Aerith says that she will support Cloud from Hollow Bastion. That speaks of some kind of connection to me, or else she wouldn't be able to do that. It also means that when Cloud starts glowing, it could be interpreted that he starts glowing because of Aerith's support from Hollow Bastion.

Even the Cloti LJ community (according to Velvy) states that they think Cloud starts glowing from his own light rather than Tifa's. Finding his own light can be the result of Aerith in his heart as easily as it can be due to Tifa, especially since Cloud seems hesitant to accept Tifa's light (according to Seeker's translation - see my questions in blue):

Quote:

Tifa: I will give you my light/I will give my light to you.
Sephiroth: The light doesn't suit you. (Is Sephy talking here about the light not suiting Tifa, or Tifa's light not suiting Cloud, or any light not suiting Cloud?)
Cloud: For me...I don't know. (Is Cloud saying here that he's not sure if Tifa should give him her light? It almost sounds like he's questioning whether she should give it to him.)
[Light comes around him.] (We do not see Tifa cast the light around him. The Cloti LJ community has stated that they believe it's Cloud's own light, not Tifa's.)
Sephiroth: Stop it!
////

We've also heard reports that Aerith refers to Cloud as "anata" (you), while Tifa refers to Cloud as "kimi" (you). We've been told that "anata" is often used between husband and wife, while "kimi" is used more often between friends. I've asked Seeker to ask his Japanese friend about more detail on this. I think it's rather interesting.

According to my friend, 'kimi' is a politer way of saying 'you' while 'anata' is a more personal way of saying 'you'. She says most people outside the Japanese culture may not really see a difference but it's a big deal in Japan. If two people have known each other for a long time, it's more appropriate to use casual forms of the language instead of 'polite' forms because that shows you are comfortable with the person. It's actually considered rude if you don't use the casual form of words with someone you are familiar with because that shows you still consider that person a stranger instead of a friend.

So yeah, I find it interesting that Aerith uses 'anata' with Cloud and Tifa uses 'kimi' with Cloud.
