*ignores FFVIII spoilers* Well, I won't be able to play for awhile since my bro took the PS2 over to my dad's house with him <_< But I got to the part where everyone tries to cheer Squall up by doing the little musical performance. That was too funny! But now I have to wait about a week to play again!!! But (*SPOILERZ*)talk about shockers! Ellone was at the Garden? The sorceress is Cid's wife?! (*END SPOILERZ*) O_o MUST KNOW MORE!!! AND I HAVE TO WAIT!!! *dies* And yes, it is rather easy compared to FFVII. None of my characters are extremely high yet- suppose I should run around in a field to fight some monsters- but the GF's make everything really simple. You don't even have to use magic to summon them, which I love for some reason. If only it were that way in all the games! Tifa:
*looks grateful* Thanks, you're an angel! I would dearly love more Pepsi! *hugs* |

I finished watching the anime Ergo Proxy. I'm sad that it's over. Now I want the DVD sets. That sucks, Alantie! At least you got pretty far.

"I'll cut them off" O.O
|
I think I did the same thing. And I remember when I got everything almost 100%, I say down and had fun with everything. The Tonberry's special moves are really fun. I would go back to the Island Closest to Hell, and level down T-Rexaurs, or go back to the beginning where Balamb was and level up Fastitocalon. And I swear I memorized about 99% of the monsters names from the game, aside from the stuff like X-ATMsomethingorother and SAM&*^^& and GIMblahblah. I can differentiate between monsters like an Elnoyle and Elvoret by color too. Or at least I think i still can. Been too long. =P It's all the Triple Triad. Between collecting them in game and real life, I started unintentionally memorizing all the cards... O.O;
You're using the GF's Boost right? Can't forget Boost. =) |

The Boost? *looks mystified* I'm not sure. . . there's still some things I'm not sure how to use properly. Do you mean using the GF's to raise your status? I'm not really sure how it works exactly.A lot of the things that were explained didn't make much sense to me, but I'm trying to learn and test things out. You can only use Limit Breakers when you're low on HP though, right? The only one I've gotten to use so far is Rinoa's. Also, will someone explain on upgrading the weapons? Am I not far enough in the game yet to upgrade them? Because when I go to the weapon shops they only have the weapons I already own. *scratches head* *munches on some of the cookies* Aside from all of this. . . everyone having a good day?

GETGETGETGET. Boost is an ability that GFs can learn that will raise their strength in battle. It is incredibly useful, and has saved me on more than one occasion. Make your GFs learn it as soon as you get them! And it only requires, like, ten AP points for them to learn it.
To upgrade your weapons, you need to find the certain items that are required to upgrade them. Like if you look in those random weapon magazines that are all over the place, they'll mention items that you need to obtain to upgrade that weapon. You find the items that you need (you can get many from battling certain enemies), go to the Weapons store, I believe, and it'll let you upgrade to a different model. Almost like Dirge of Cerberus, but not quite.
Yeah, I believe you can only use those when your HP is low. They're really useful, and change depending on your weapon at the time, as well. It took me forever to learn the game mechanics of FFVIII. There are still a lot of things that I'm not clear on, lol. |

OH!!! Ok! I know what you are talking about now!!! Alrighty, once I am able to play again, I will be certain to get the boost!
Alrighty then. I have been collecting items, but so far in the Weapon's Shop they only have the original weapons, so I'll start keeping an eye out for the weapon magazines. Thank you. ![]()
 Thank goodness I'm not the only one! A lot of things are really quite complicated! Though I am glad you can draw magic from enemies- that really simplifies things and I love it. I didn't realize thought that you could draw GFs too, so I missed the first one you can draw ![]() Despite the complicated things, I really am enjoying it so far. It's got a really interesting story line! And I'm dying to know more! *sigh* I wish it was Christmas already so my brother would be back and I could play it again! *shakes fist* |

Yeah, different Weapon shops have different stock, it seems.
Oh, I find it very complicated. There are times when I have trouble remembering how to junction properly if I don't play for a long time. >.< Fun, overall, but complicated. The storyline is great, though. And I hate having to draw magic, lol. Don't worry - I've missed tons of GFs from battles. You'll have a chance to obtain many GFs that you miss throughout the game in Disc Four. |

Boost raises the attack of your GFs(well the GFs that do damage) depending on how fast you can click you square button. You hold select and a square appears on the bottom(i think bottom right) of the screen and you keep on tapping square while that is showing.(you stop when it goes away or the attack you raised will go back down and you start over) Depending on good you are at tapping square you can do up to 50% more damage than what your GF would normally do. It's really useful in battle, and I guess some could even call it cheap.
You need to collect a certain type of magazine(forgot what it's called, sorry) in order to gain the option to upgrade to a new weapon. After that, you'll see the items and the amount of gil needed to upgrade. You'll most likely have some of the items already if you've already gotten the magazine and went to the shop(unless you've sold them) and it shouldn't be as hard as it seems(until later in the game) to get the items to upgrade to new weapons. And I believe the new limit breaks occur after getting new weapons, so it all falls together as you get the magazines.
Good day, good day. =)
Same here. I only started going full out on drawing, junctioning, triple triad, and stuff near the end of the game and went crazy on my second play through. Kind of skipped through alot of the game my first time since I was playing it at the same times as my friends so whenever we'd meet up I'd get spoiled. I got tired of that and went further than them and beat the game first. =P Ended up telling my friends... SPOILER: ...Squall dies, and they came back after they beat it and got pissed at me because they thought when Squall was laying there that he was really dead. HAH. |

I'm high~! I just got a Zodiac Tarot deck and for the first time, I had a deck that actually spoke to me. (uh. Supernatural stuff. Ignore if you don't get it. haha)Anyway, has anyone here ever tried playing Final Fantasy 8 without even using the GFs? I have some guy friends who claim that you can just level up and train your playable characters more so you can go around finishing the entire game without even using Guardian Forces.

Like a challenge? It's possible, but I never tried to do any sort of challenges in a game unless I get something afterwards.(Something in game, not something like personal satisfaction for beating a hard challenge) It's also possible to beat the game not using items, not upgrading weapons, and the list goes on. |

As in not summoning GFs or Junctioned them at all? I love my GFs too much. Ahh, FFVIII, the first ever FF game that I actually beaten. I remember my final battles. Rinoa's having a grand time using Wishing Star several times (lucky!), Zell stacking up the combos, Squall summoning Alexander and using Renzokuken whenever he can. I literally cried tears of relief when one of my Phoenix Pinions came to life when my party was KO'd, reviving them and damaging the final boss' pet. |

Acutally, not using GF's (as in summoning them) is easy, for me anyway. But I do use junctions, game is hard with out them. Bah, I never found a Phoenix Pinion. So no Phoenix for moi. |

*sigh* I'm going crazy! I want to play it so badly at the moment. CURSE YOU LITTLE BROTHER!!! *shakes fist* I would read some fics for the game, but I know if I do I'll be spoiled beyond belief. So I am starting to collect Squall art to tide me over. It is sort of working. . . *drools over Squall's prettiness* Thank you everyone though for the helpful tips! I will be sure to put them to use once I am able to continue again. *eye twitches* I HATE not being able to play a game when I'm working on my first time through it. So bored!! *sighs*

Oh. I know the feeling. It's really frustrating when that happens, especially if you can't control the circumstances that are preventing you from playing. ![]()
Well I guess you can put it that way. In a way, I guess, it's like challenging yourself to finish the entire game without junctioning or collecting the GFS. ![]()
Yep. Although I haven't tried it yet. Haha Anyway, I have a little early Christmas present for the entire Cleris community over here!

Okay, I find not junctioning them at all very hard. I rely on magic and items to much. Merry Christmas everyone! |
