Oh for the love of god, PLEASE PUT SPOILERS IN THE SPOILER FORUM or at least have the decency to hide it with Spoiler tags!!!!!!
<_< There is a reason why the spoiler forums exist!! So that those of us who don't want to be spoiled don't go there!!!!!! *the anger* <_<

Don't worry about that. Not much of a spoiler after all now that we looked closer. That's why I pointed at the spoiler forum. :P

Square doens't want AC to contradict their individual playing experience, in which
Cloud's position in the LTD was in the hands of the player.

But many other things were up to the player. We got to choose the names of party members. It was up to us whether Vincent and Yuffie were even in the story at all. A movie can't be non-linear, so multiple outcomes from the game need to be thrown out in favor of the most logical outcome. I mean, they should have learned their lesson when they foolishly contradictied 99% of player's experiences by keeping Vincent and Yuffie out of the ending just for %1 of players who didn't get them.

And now they've included Vincent and Yuffie in AC, haven't they? They're not going to have all the characters call each other "you" because we renamed them when we played FF7, are they? These examples are a bit more extreme, but the point remains the same: it's time for them to go ahead and forget about the non-linear nature of games all together and write a story appropriate for a movie. If they don't want to contradict the expereinces of individual players, they're going to have to make the film 100 minutes of blank screen with a message that reads "use your imagination" because that's the only way to do it!

I agree FTP, obviously they can't please everyone, and many interpretations will be proved incorrect along the way, if not, they couldn't say anything.

I also want to see the concept of spiritual love portrayed in the movie, because death shouldn't be a barrier to their love. I'm tired of hearing Clotis say that Cloud and Aerith can never be together because she's dead and not available. As Cloud continues to protect the planet, Aerith would always remain by his side watching over and protecting him. Cloud would realize that she's always with him and that they would be able to meet everytime he closes his eyes. fgirl.gif

I don't think that death ever has been portrayed to be a barrier. I think that they can let us know perfectly well through the story of AC that they are still in love, and that they can still speak with each other, as we're seeing from the flowerfield scene. I don't think he needs to live to make that true.

I guess I'm partial to Shakespeare, being a crazy thespian and all, so I see the beauty of them being reunited by death. I understand your point of view too, but I just have my preferences. ^_^

I also want him to die because I'm hoping for a bittersweet scene of Kadaj realizing where he went wrong, and when he wants to apoligize, or thank Cloud for what he did, he finds Cloud dead, and then decides to live his live more like Cloud, walking the path of a Hero. :cloud:

Of course I also would like Barret and Tifa to get together, but I'm not holding on to much hope for that! :P

This is why I'm so curious to see what AC is about, and how they're going to keep their word about not contradicting the many interpretations of their fans...

I still say they should just screw the fans and write it however THEY want it. *sighs*

Clotis certainly think so...and from what happened in the game, they believe Cloud ONLY wants to see Aerith so that she could forgive him. It's why I want the ending to stress spiritual love...for Cloud to live and still choose Aerith over Tifa. If he dies, they'll surely claim he only got with her because he died. I can already see that coming... <_<

I kind of got out of the game that Cloud was upset when Aerith died because she will no longer physically be there. He states that she will no longer smile, laugh, or cry. It's why he wonders what will become of them and their relationship. At the end, he feels that the only way he can meet with her/be with her is to find her again in the Promised Land. I kind of thought he feels like there IS a barrier between them. I know it's just speculation, but in a sense, I feel that perhaps he doesn't quite understand the idea of spiritual love yet. I was hoping that maybe he would come to fully realize the concept that Aerith isn't really gone, because she lives on in his heart. Ultimately this would mean that he never really needed to go search for her, because she's always been by his side all along. I guess it all depends too on what they portray the Promised Land to be. I like the more subtle concepts just because they're more "hinty" (if that's even a word), and not everyone will catch them unless they really pay attention. I find them beautiful...even more so than Tidus and Yuna's kiss and "I love you".

*stomps foot* No no no...Cloud is the hero, not Kadaj!!!!

Considering how much my dear STA wuvs Kadaj...I guess I'd be willing to have Cloud share his role :P
