I found this on gameshoutradio.com regarding the voice actors for FFXII: Square Enix announced that at the Square Enix Party 2005, two of the five planned on-stage presentations will be showcasing Final Fantasy XII. On day one, music composer Nobuo Uematsu will talk about FFXII and show new footage from the game. Square Enix said that it will also be making a big announcement about the new game. Day two, the main voice actors from Final Fantasy XII will be on stage with music supervisor Hitoshi Sakimoto. Other events to take place include a live performance by the Square Enix sound development team, and a stage presentation for Grandia III. Those attending day two will be able to catch the latest trailers for Code Age Commanders and Fullmetal Alchemist 3. The Square Enix Party 2005 will be running on July 30 and 31 at the Nippon Convention Center in Chiba, Japan. Admission is $9.18 (USD) or 1,000 yen. Have the VA's been announced??? They are making public appearances. So, does that mean I missed something? I couldn't find them listed anywhere...

Gonna revive this club after seeing our VAs in English for KH2 and parts of AC, which will be coming out soon enough to see more. I personally think that most of the VAs did well, and my only gripe would probably be Mena Suvari in KH2, but so far she sounds better for Advent Children, so I'm going to wait until the 25th to give out my entire opinion. |

Oooooh, I have another VA to add to this Club's list: Vic Mignogna who did the voices Edward Elric(Full Metal Alchemist), Kurz Weber(Full Metal Panic), Kougaiji(Saiyuki), Dark Mousy(DN Angel), and a crapload more of other anime characters. He's got a great singing voice as well. I love his version of "Brothers" from Full Metal Alchemist. I also think he's quite smexy in person

YAY!!! The club has been revived! ![]() Well, I haven't watched any scenes in English from AC. But, I have heard a lot of the VAs in KH2. I finally heard Cloud and Tifa last night. I thought that they were both well done. I really only have a problem with a few VAs in that game... Mena Suvari: When you first meet Aerith, her voice is so flat and emotionless. She sounds horrid! But, later, during the scene with Cloud, she has improved a good deal. And I heard she was very good in AC. Cid's voice: Ugh... I never thought Cid should sound like a redneck! I hate it! He should sound more like Harrison Ford or something...Leon: I want David Boreanz back... This new guy is trying too hard to sound "cool" and he comes off sounding like an ass....

I forgot about Cid! Argh, I was so annoyed by the redneck voice in KH2... Were we supposed to find it funny that the redneck was they guy who was good with computers, or was it just a really weird choice? Either way, bad call. One of the voices I was very pleased with in AC that I had big hopes for was Barret, I hoped he would sound just as good in English as in Japanese. I do think Mena sounded much better in AC, and had she done better during most of KH2, I don't think people would be as harsh on her. Mebbe is just my personal bias, but she always seems to sound better while talking to Cloud... I also loved how Cloud sounded in response to her in the flowerfields... felt so Clerisy...

And it doesn't hurt that they added "More than... anything..." after "I want to be forgiven", does it?

It doesn't hurt one little bit! Oh gawd, I'm such a Cleris, ze smecksy Rikkulicious hath not converted me yet! *totally fangirls at the slightest Cleris*Anyway, I think part of why people have been complaining so much is expecting every line to be filled with incredible emotion. When a normal person talks, they don't always have to say something with huge emotion, and if you push too much on it in the voice acting, it'd be overacting, and just sound like they're trying too hard all the time. Does Cloud have to sound like he's crying giant man tears for us to believe that he's feeling an emotion? To me, I think it'll be nice to watch the movie with the dubbing, because sometimes you can relate to the emotions better if you aren't having to detach yourself from some of the sights to read the subtitles. It's nice to just hear it in your own language too if you want to just relax as you watch it without having to worry about missing an important detail. I hate when it's a dramatic scene and I have to rewind or pause to read the whole line, it seriously can kill the moment. Now, I'm not just a lazy ignorant person who can't appreciate another language, but I do think that it's just as good with the dubbing.

"I'll cut them off" O.O
|
Lol... they only added it because Cloud's mouth kept on moving after that. And is this a pro dub fanclub or sub hating club. The "Death to subs" thing is the only thing stopping me from wanting to join because I like subs more. Of course some US voice actors are pretty talented... Like the people that did Spirited Away. IMO the best dubbed anime ever. |

*Revives* Well, I've been lazy, but I finally got around to looking up the English VAs for FFXII, seeing as how I just preordered it. ![]() Vaan ~ Bobby Edner Ashe ~ Kari Wahlgren Baltheir ~ Giddeon Emery Penelo ~ Catherine Taber Basch ~ Keith Ferguson Fran ~ Nicole Fantl The only name I recognize is Kari Wahlgren and that is just because she was Shelke's English VA in DoC and she was also Cher in Wolf's Rain. |

Kari Wahlgren also did Karin's voice in Shadow Hearts: Covenant. I loved her Karin, so I'm crossing my fingers and hope she does just as well with Ashe. :) The voice acting in SH:C is FANTASTIC, by the way. Totally blows anything Square has ever tried in their FFs from the water. And when I listen to horror attempts like Ys, I'm thankful there are games like SH:C that keep my faith in dubs. ![]() I was watching some really, REALLY old dubbed anime on TV several weeks ago-- and I forgot how horrible they were (Dragon Ball era, so you know what I'm talking about). But then new dubbed anime come out, stuff like Ueki and Kino no Tabi, and it's just amazing how much the voice acting has improved! I think a lot of people who hate dubs were scarred badly by the DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho days, and have not tried to give the newer anime the chance they deserve. The improvements have been so good that I actually prefer the dubbed version of You're Under Arrest! more than the original!

They have re-dubbed YYH since then, though, haven't they? They should give the newer version another chance. I own all of the newest versions of YYH and I really liked the voice acting. The only one who was sort of weird was Kuwabara.
