Welcome, FFG!!! So are you new too the books or just the fandom?

Both. :P I have decided not to watch any of the movies until I read the book for that movie. So, since I have read the first 3 books, I have seen the first 3 movies. I was a bit disappointed in the 3rd movie. They really butchered the story, IMO. <_<

A lot of people say that, but I think the only thing that annoyed me was that there was a lot of detail about the Marauders left out. There was a chapter when Harry, Ron, Hermione, Lupin and Sirius were in the Shrieking Shack and Sirius and Lupin explain to the trio how close the 4 of them were, but this is lost in the movie where you just assume "oh, well, they must've been close..." but if you've read the book, you know that James and Sirius were very close friends where as Lupin was the one who tried to keep them reasonably sensible and Wormtail was almost just a tag-along. And also the fact that the Shrieking Shack is so aptly named because Lupin used to go there to shriek as a werewolf! Marvellous.

Harry Potter brings out the wizard in me :woot:

I just think Cho was grieving over Cedric and Harry just happend to be there. Thats why I'm not really too fond of Cho in OOTP...

(ranting for Cho, OOTP and GoF Spoilers)

I'm gonna step in to defend Cho, because I love her oh-so much.

She did like Harry, honestly and truly. But Harry is a failure when it comes to girls, and Cedric swept her off her feet first. I can see her simply accepting Cedric's offer because they were friends and she didn't mind - but then it grew into something more serious. Harry *had* that chance and he blew it, Cho would have gone with him if he would have asked her.

Of course, then in OOTP Cho is kind of having this breakdown. Her boyfriend is dead, and no one is telling her what really happened - they just want her to go to school like a good girl and keep her mouth shut. Thus she becomes even more enamored with Harry as he defies authority and sets up DA.

Cho...really does like him, but she's very emotionally unstable. She wants Harry to talk with her about Cedric's death, because that's the only way she'll feel she has closure. After all, how much does she really know about that night with everyone trying to cover it up? And here's this boy who was THERE, and she wants to know, she needs to know what happened. Harry is emotionally immature and also trying to block Cedric's death out of his mind - he simply wants to date Cho, he's not really thinking about how screwed up this whole thing has made her. So really, their relationship falls apart due to emotional immaturity. It's not just one person's fault.

On a side note, I want Cho to come back in book seven. She probably won't, but...I WANT HER TO.

So many people say that, but the third movie is my second favorite. As movies, I kind of thought the first two blew. The third one, IMO, was the first one that stood on it's own as a movie. And I thought the fourth one was even better.

Kusari: Thanks for that clip from HBO! The behind the scenes stuff really embelished the one minute long teaser. Just from the few seconds we see of Helena Bonham Carter, I think she's going to make a GREAT Bellatrix Lestrange.

Just a warning, FFG, this place is brimming with unmarked spoilers!

There's no reason for her not to, her being in DA and all. EVERYONE'S gonna be there, I think! Cos it's the big finale, and JKR wants to say goodbye.
*is completely holding out for an appearance of ghost!Sirius because she misses him so much  *

I really really liked the flow of the third one. But! it transforms Hermione into a Pink Power Ranger. :puke: And yep, I missed the Marauders.
Loved the fourth one, good filmmaking, fair characterization.

Yeah she looks like she'll be a great Bellatrix, but I love the part where Luna is talking about Thestrals more :P I hope the part where Bellatrix tries to duel with Harry will be in the movie, the part just before Voldemort and Dumbledore duel in the Ministry of Music. And from that clip, I'm glad to see that Ginny, Luna and Neville escort them to the Department of Mysteries...for a while there I was convinced they could cut those three characters out without too much trouble.

Well, I am a newbie to the HP fandom, but I am really enjoying the books, so sign me up! ^_^

FF_G!! :huggle: Welcome to the epic love which is the HP fandom. :D Who's your favorite character?
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the 3rd movie. Being a total Marauders fangirl, the third book is by far my favorite (seconded by the fifth book. Can you guess who my favorite character is? :P ), so I was disappointed with the murder of the story. However, I love Cauron's directing style.

Every aspect of Lupin in that movie makes me beyond sad. <_< WEREWOLVES DO NOT LOOK LIKE THAT.

On the subject of Bellatrix, she looked to me a bit too.... witch-crazy. Not creepy, unsettling, I-used-to-be-rich-and-beautiful creepy, but the kind of creepy that I associate with more traditional witches. I dunno, I'll reserve my judgement until the final product is shown.

Off-topic, I absolutely cannot wait to see the young marauders!!!! :woot: Sirius simply MUST be sexy, and not just sexy, but the sexiest.

I HOPE SO! Daniel better pull off Harry's anguish in that scene; I remember shivering when Harry screams "SHE KILLED HIM, I'LL KILL HER!" in the book

It's weird, though. In the scene where the Sextet is flying towards Ministry of Magic, they seem to be on broomsticks, so I thought they cut the thestrals out, but then there's Luna showing them to Harry. Hmmmm...

I only remember seeing Harry on a broom in the trailer so I just assumed this is when he's flying to Grimmauld Place with members of the Order. I hope so, because I'd really like to see (or not ;) ) Thestrals.

You DO? Why? O.o I've never met ANYONE before who's liked Cho!

As for the movies, I LOVED the first two because they were TRUE TO THE BOOKS. That's what matters with me. I fell in love with the books, and want to see THEM on the screen. The third movie was pretty good, I didn't notice the lack of the Marauders the first time xD
But the fourth movie...BLEW. The graphix were pretty, and Daniel's acting better(And...CEDRIC ), but that was IT. The story telling PHAIL'D(My sister and dad had no idea WHAT was going on, and I was only following cuz I'd read it), characterization..mm, I can't remember very well, but Hermione's been off since PoA, and the movie was so FAR from the book it was almost a seperate entity! The movie just jumped from one Trial to the next, with hardly ANYTHING inbetween....and don't get me started on that damn Dragon Scene <_<

As for the Young James, Snape and Sirius- They're all AWESOME! Siris is TEH SMEZZ*Has his babies*

Us Cho fans are few and far between!

I like her because she's a sweetheart, she's honest, she's loyal. Yes, she is a serious emotional wreck but considering she's a hormonal teenage girl whose boyfriend dropped dead which was the first domino to fall in this war everyone's trying to pretend isn't happening, I forgive her (really, Harry's just as much as an emotional stunt as she is, if not moreso). When everyone is jumping on the "Let's Hate Harry" bandwagon, she doesn't fall for it. She never wears those buttons, she discourages people from making fun of him, and would have accepted his invitation had he asked her first. Cho is just a generally nice and friendly person.

Everyone gets on her about defending Marietta, but think about if it was Ron, or Hermione, or one of your friends. You wouldn't turn on years of friendship at the drop of a hat because she did one stupid thing, right? She stood up to the famous Harry Potter, the boy she was dating, and told him to GTFO because it was sistahs before mistahs.

Cho also defies every authority figure imaginable by joining the DA when even her parents try to convince her to leave it alone like a good little girl, she knows she can't. She can't stand by as Cedric's murder is covered up and goes unavenged.

I don't think she should be hanged because of her emotional breakdown. Think about it from her POV - Harry and Cedric go into the maze, Cedric comes out dead. No one tells her what happens, and she needs to know. I'd go so far as to say she deserves to know, being closer to Cedric than Harry ever was. Harry, meanwhile, is trying to crush down his feelings and ignore them when she needs the opposite - ironically, if he had just talked about what happened with her she'd have gotten over it sooner. But they're both 15, they deserve a break.

Cho is a powerful witch, a loyal friend, and yes, a horrible train wreck by the end of book 5, but I don't think she deserves to be hanged for that.

WOW THAT WAS LONG. I love Cho too much.

LUNA LOVEGOOD CLIP FROM ABC!

*weak at the knees*

She's perfect for the Luna role, I'm glad my favourite character will be played so greatly.

Also, there are loads more of those type of clips here (though I think it's temporarily down >_<!).

Oh, crap! This was on ABC? Why did I miss it? Those clips are short, but they're fantastic. I wish I could just fastforward to July. And I think I'm finally getting used to Harry's short hair.
