I just finished reading the latest in the Blue Bloods series, Revelations. GUH. I have a love hate relationship with these books. XD They're grand, but so frustrating at the same time. *now has to wait until the fall for the next book D: * |

yet again, today I loved you

I've been terrible and haven't been reading as much lately, but I'm currently tearing through Watchmen, which I highly recommend to everyone. I'm also reading Team of Rivals because the media seems to be all abuzz about it. |

I've been wondering whether or not to give that author a try. It's a vampire series, correct? Would you recommend it? |

Wow, I'm slow at responding XD I do recomend it. It's pretty good. It's like three books in one though. The only problem is you have to order the first one online since they don't ship it to stores anymore. I got the 2nd one by mistake, but I wanted to read it anyways. I got my cousin to buy me the 1st one, but I paid him back. It was shipped today since it was backordered. I'll let you know what I think of them both once I finish them. |

It's no problem. ^^ I'm just interested to know because I've seen it on store shelves, but I want recommendations on any vampire books I read so I don't waste my time reading dumb ones. *sweat*I'm currently reading Heir to Sevenwaters, and it's FABULOUS so far. A fantastic companion to the original trilogy. I got teared up when they named the baby Finbar.

I've only read one of LJ Smith's Vampire Diaries but I liked it. I appreciate that her human characters actually get to do things and don't just sit around like lumps. And I like the use of the vampire myth- some stuff really creeped me out...in a good way :) I've finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Oh my, I did not want this book to end! Heartbreaking, but also, completely uplifting and beautiful. I'd recommend it to anyone. After that, I read A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray- it's a Victorian supernatural story. I expected lots of swooning and pining but all the heroines pleasantly surprised me. I want it's sequel! But now I'm taking a break from reading, because I've abandoned writing, and I dearly miss it  |

I've seen the Book Thief around but haven't picked it up yet. *ponders* I read A Great and Terrible Beauty, Kusari. There were parts that were highly intriguing, but I don't know- quite a bit of it dragged, I felt. Not to mention that I got annoyed with how selfish most of the characters were. Perhaps the others will be better? You'll have to let me know.Finished Heir to Sevenwaters. ZOMG. <3 I loved it! XD There was only one part that kind of irritated me, but a slight blip in an otherwise perfect story was easy to overlook. Now I'm desperately eager for a sequel with Sibeal stepping into the role of heroine, yus.

I just started Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. I found out that he's a creative writing professor at my university, so I thought I'd read something by him. |

Anne Rice does it right. :3 Hmmmm, I've recently read The Looking Glass Wars and Seeing Redd (first + second in a trilogy). They're YA fiction, and quite good, I think. :3 It's the "true" story of Alice in Wonderland - only her name's Alyss, and Wonderland's real. The Mad Hatter is Hatter Madigan, and he's a bodyguard with insane ninja skills, the Cheshire Cat is an asssassin, and ooh it's cool. 8D Alantie, I read the Great and Terrible Beauty trilogy a year or so ago. They're okay, like you said. The selfishness doesn't dissipate that much, sad to say. I dunno, they're...interesting, sure. I also heard they're pretty historically inaccurate, though. It's just...one of those series. XD;;; |

I tried to read Anne Rice and just could not get into it, I'm sad to say. It was too wordy for my taste. *shrugs* Each to their own! XD I personally recommend Blue Bloods if you want some new vampire stuff. I'm seriously addicted to that series in an insane way. OMG. Lute, I just got the Looking Glass Wars from the library today! XD I've heard it's really good, so I decided to try it. And I'm one of those people who did not like Alice in Wonderland. *sweat* Guh, that's too bad to hear. I was so excited to find that series because the Victorian period is awesome, but I was hugely disapointed. *sighs*I need new reading material. Once I finish rereading the Black Jewels Trilogy, I'm going to read the Looking Glass Trilogy, then I won't have anything else. D: |

Just read Sarah Dessen’s book, That Summer. I greatly enjoyed what I’ve read of her work, but at the end of this one, I thought “Okay, what was the point of that?” But I’m not surprised since this was just the author’s first book. Hmm, I tend not to be disappointed with historical inaccuracies, so if there are any in Beauty, it doesn’t really bother me. I heard there are many in “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell” too and that’s become one of my favorite books. I’m reading Rebel Angels right now and greatly enjoying it. I think the author’s greatest strength is her prose style- the Victorian details combined with the lush descriptions of magic are what draw me in. I like the characters despite the fact that they can act real bitchy sometimes. I think though, that they *had* to be that assertive given the time period they grew up in. Plus...I guess I’m a sucker for women empowerment themes.
I’m with you- I was never really fond of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I liked it when I was seven or so, and…I dunno, I think I outgrew them. There are lots of childhood books that have stayed with me- Narnia, Peter Pan, Secret Garden to name a few but for some reason, those books didn’t just make the cut. Maybe it was the fact that they had no real villains or no real threat- even as a kid, I liked when authors showed that there IS darkness in the world.Annnd, the point of all that musing is to say that I think I’ll check out that Looking Glass series—I love it when people put a darker spin on fairy tales XD |

Been reading Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. Supposedly a book about a little girl who meets a family that drank from some spring that has made them immortal and now is burdened with keeping them a secret, and maybe possibly joining them. The plot sounds interesting but the book is kinda rushing things. It's not really holding my attention by much, but hopes that it gets better keep me reading. As of right now, I call it a good "time-killer", I guess. |
