I'd like to try that club tag, Hyper. Yeah, a Jenova screenshot would be nice, but a club tag is actually kinda small...
And... after reading through your post, I know I was just stating something that was interesting, I know it's not exactly a fact. Uh... whoops? With Lucrecia, I think she would've died. But then when Holy manifested, wouldn't it proceed to cleanse the rest of the Jenova-stricken organisms? Or is that what Geostigma is...? :lol:Yes, I also think that the Jenova cells kept her alive. After bringing forth a different kind of child, I think she would've died with all of the Mako and such poisoning her body. Maybe it was a kind of gradual thing, like with leukemia. When she finally met Vincent, her body was pretty much destroyed, and she died seeing him last. |

Hello, Iris! Welcome! Come back, thirty years ago, when one of the darkest tales in Final Fantasy 7 takes place... ...wait! How old would Hojo be now? Fifty? 'Cause if it was thirty years ago... oh yeah.

Welcome, Iris! Have fun discussing the Project with us! ![]() Also, some minor news: I have some fanfics relevant to this sublot and its characters available on FanFiction.net if anyone feels like checking them out. 1) Primary - a new Hojo-centric fic. 2) Terra Incognita - a slightly older (and much longer) Hojo-centric fic, but still fairly recent. 3) The Ninth Wave - an old fanfic written from Lucrecia's perspective.
Yay! Thank you!
No problem! But feel free to clarify your points and discuss your idea/theory further if you like! I'm happy to hear it!
I agree! I think the main factors in her "death" would have been the birth of Sephiroth, and a latent reaction to all the Mako and Jenova cells in her body - she might have been quite healthy with calculated doses of both while pregnant, but after giving birth the treatment might've become malignant and life-threatening. It's even possible that she developed mako poisoning, or that withdrawral from the injection put her life in jeopardy, with only the Jenova cells keeping her hanging on to life.
It depends on how old you estimate he is during the Jenova Project. Personally, I think of him as having been a little bit younger than Vincent (27), so I'd place him at 25 during the Project (with Lucrecia at 24), which would make him 55 during the game's current events. But it's all up to speculation! What do you think, though? I'm curious to know. |

Withdrawal from the injections?
But what about all the other SOLDIERs? They don't suffer from withdrawals even if they had an enormous dose of the Mako. But yep, it's still sad. ![]() I'm still struggling with the club tag...

I've been wondering that. New question to the club: Does Lucrecia have Geostigma? Considering the amount of injections she most likely had, would she/could she have Geostigma? This is all according to the hypothesis that she is indeed alive at the end. ![]() And Hopeful, I'm sure the sig will look great!

Aw... thanks! ![]() To your question, MT, that depends on what Geostigma is. Is it the earth cleaning itself from anything affected by Jenova, or is it something that is entirely Jenova-based?But... I think there would be a chance she might have Geostigma - if she is still living. |

Welcome, AerithResurrected! I'll add you to the members list pronto! I hope you'll find a great deal to talk about with us here. By the way, if you still have any questions about the Jenova Project or things you still aren't totally sure about, feel free to ask! ![]() And Hopeful - prepare for some gushing on my part because that is a bloody fantastic sig! What a brilliant job you've done with it! I love it! Thank you! ::swoon::I'll include on it on the first page right away!
I agree. While I think that definitely think that Lucrecia chose Hojo because she wanted to be with him, I totally believe that in retrospect she feels differently. But if she genuinely didn't love him thirty years ago (which sadly, I believe), then it can't be helped. But Vincent is definitely the wise choice. And after all, it's clear from the Crystal Cavern sequence that she cares for Vincent, but she never asks about Hojo. In a way, it's very sad that she should feel like that when she rejected his love when it really mattered, when it could've made a difference. At the same time, I don't think it's possible for anything to happen between Lucrecia and Vincent post-game (if she lives) because they've both changed so much from suffering. They can't really start anything new - they both have too much pain, too many demons, in my opinion. I think Lucrecia needs to be at peace whilst Vincent needs to learn to let go of the past and not be so terribly haunted by things he can't change and was never responsible for in the first place. And if he needs the love of a good woman to help him with that; I don't think Lucrecia is that woman (Tifa on the other hand...). She's a figure of his past, not his future, and I think the Crystal Cavern sequence was about laying that to rest, in a way. I think Lucrecia would want that too, for him to find love and happiness with another rather than continue to punish himself for her sake. I also think that all the love in Lucrecia's heart is directed at Sephiroth now, and that's he's been the one haunting her thoughts far more than Vincent and Hojo put together.
That's a very good point, which I actually forgot all about! How often do the members of SOLDIER get a Mako injection? I believe all potential candidates get a shot of it to test their reactions to it, if they're strong enough to handle it (which is where Cloud failed, I think), which suggests more treatment. But I think you're right that there's no such thing as Mako-withdrawal - even if the SOLDIERs get regular shots of it to improve them during training, they seem to fare well without it. A bunch of elite warriors vitally dependant on a substance for survival wouldn't be good news for Shinra anyway. The Sephiroth-clones also seem relatively fine without regular doses of Mako. Cloud gets a whole heap of exposure to Mako and isn't dependant. The only difference with Lucrecia is that she was getting the injections to make her womb into a Mako-rich area for Sephiroth to develop in, so after Sephiroth was born her body could have responded very differently. But I think that it probably developed into a form of Mako-poisoning, which along with the fact that Sephiroth's birth seems to have been very difficult, would've been enough to "kill" her were it not for the Jenova cells. The thing that's most unclear is what happened to Lucrecia after "dying". Did she disappear? Did she escape into the mountains to die? Or did she appear physically dead and was buried, only to be woken up after the J-cells had regenerated some of her injuries? I tend to go with the latter, because the other options necessitate her abandoning her son, and as I recall she was desperate to just hold him. I can't see her running away to die, no matter how hopeless her situation was, as long as she had her son to live for. But if she did fall into a deep coma and woke up with active Jenova-cells, all alone and confused, it would definitely lead well to her mental state in the Crystal Cavern sequence. -_-
Interesting question, MT! It's possible, but we don't really know enough about Geostigma yet. The problems I can spot with that theory so far are:1) Geostigma is a terminal illness, wheras Lucrecia's Jenova-cells have actually been sustaining her life (even against her will) for thirty years. 2) Didn't Geostigma appear after the Holy/Meteor incident? Isn't it something to do with the aftermath? Is it Jenova-based or Planet-based? 3) The orphans in AC haven't been having any injections, so how can that be the cause of it? 4) I remember something Vincent said in the latest trailer about Geostigma is the body overcompensating for...something (I can't remember what exactly - I'll have to look up that quote for you later!). Would Lucrecia fit into that?
Actually, I do hope that she didn't live after FFVII! Not because I hate her or anything (I think she's a great character!), but because she's suffered so much and I hope she found. It would've been wonderful if Holy managed to cleanse her body of Jenova and give her death, so she could be with her son.

Welcome, slowerthanaverage! I hope you hope chatting with us! ![]()
VincentxLucrecia is a fine pairing, slower! I know I sometimes sound like I'm radically against them, but I'm not! Feel free to share your love of the pairing and tell us why you like them so much, if you want to!
Very cool! Have fun, then. B) Feel free to bring up anything if you find something you'd like to comment on or something you disagree with and want to have a 'lil mini-debate about.
Thanks for the quote, AR! If that's what it is, then I suppose it could easily be a reference to Jenova cells... Anyway, unless anyone still has things they'd like to discuss about Geostigma then I'd like to ask everyone here what they think about Professor Gast. With all this HojoxLucreciaxVincent drama going on, it's quite easy to forget all about him. Which is strange seeing as he was heading the Project. How big do you think his role was? How willing was he to take the experiment further through Sephiroth? Share your thoughts! I'd also like to ask everyone here if they'd like me to hunt down fanfics, fanart and essays written on the Project for the group. Is anyone interested in finding some Jenova Project entertainment? Also, guest-essays could give us something more to discuss every now and then. I could easily find some of these for anyone this idea appeals to, and post the links here for anyone keen on reading/looking at fics and art. Let me know what you think, please.
