I agree with you, Hades(can i call you that?). That's why we have what we call the "sequel slump" where the 'continuations' of movies and games almost never live up to the original. And thats precisely why sequels that were already conceptualized way before the release of the original are so great. Remember the Harry Potter books? The Star Wars movies? Their creators were able to conceptualize them without any yapping from the fans about what should happen and who should get together with who.
Perhaps Square has tried to find a way to please everybody (Good luck with that Square) And you know, that idea kind of upsets me. Because then, that would really make AC nothing more than fanservice with a built-in plot. But what the heck! Square has come up with awesome plots in the past. Like Cloud's Girl, i also trust them. |

To touch the light I see in your eyes...

Despite the way it's presented in the trailer, I'm wondering if the flower field scene is Cloud's memory of something that happened during the last two years. The scene would make a whole lot more sense to me if it actually happened about a year ago (or more), and Cloud simply remembers it as he approaches the Forgotten City. I'm hoping it's that kind of revision that we see in certain scenes.
They're certainly keeping us guessing about what's been happening during the last two years. It was clearly stated more than once that he was living in solitude, but the implications in the film festival were different (although very vague). The way I see it is that Square didn't have a whole lot of time to put the film festival material together (as far as we know). They'd only completed about 30% of the movie at that time, and they had to put it together into something cohesive and understandable for the film festival. Since Square had to work with what they already had completed, I'm not sure that it represented the plot accurately.... especially since Nomura has said that some of the scenes are going to be revised. |
