I don't think Aerith is real in the flower field, but I don't think she's just a memory, either. Cloud's not remembering a conversation that he had with Aerith before her death, because he's talking about his guilt due to her death. She also says something about being glad he came all that way to see her. It's possible that the flower field scene actually happened during the last two years, but I think he's meeting with her spirit in that scene.

In other words, I don't think she's just a memory. I think it's her spirit.

i gotta agree with anastar :) i dont think that was a memory of Aeris but her spirit talking to Cloud and plus there is no memory of Cloud an Aeris talking to each other back 2 back on the flower field in the game.
And it is his dream to meet her once again his dream ohhhhhh how romantic :)

I donīt think that Aeris was a memory, because, like miracle_angel said, in the game didnīt happen the scene in the flower field, it canīt be a flashback... But itīs possible that it was a Cloudīs wish... Although my opinion is that it was Aeris spirit, because Aeris said something about he going to see her and because in the script of the movie, in the intro, Cloud took his arm and he became to see a flower field. Then it dissapears and Cloud said "It was a premonition, or maybe...?". Then he sees Aeris in the flower field and he talks to her, but when he goes to see her face, he comes back to real world... Maybe there is a connection between Cloudīs infection and the flower field scene with Aeris. Surely he will see her face at the end...
In my opinion it means that it was Aeris spirit or something like that... And there is the bond between Cloud and Aeris, too :D

hmm, interesting...it can be, but i dont know why , i think she is not an spirit....not a memory...she is just what cloud would like to happen, he would like to be with her and be forgiven, thats why he said: i want to be forgiven..and she answers..but..by who?? i think that mind cloud need to be forgiven...maybe im wrong, i like to know your opinions and mayby you are right or mayby no one of us are right :D

see you later!

There might not have been a flower field scene in the game, but there's still a two year gap after FFVII and before AC that no one really knows much about.

That's what I've been wondering about, wilhelm - whether it's a memory of something that happened within the last two years. Aerith acts like it's the first she's seen him in two years, and she also says that he came all that way to see her. I can't believe that Cloud hasn't tried to see her during the last two years, and Cloud hasn't "gone all that way to see her" - he's actually there to save the children. That makes me think it's a memory of something that happened at some point during the last two years. Being near the Forgotten City has simply made Cloud remember it.

yeah, i think its because cloud is near the forgoten sity he remembered what happens to aeris and he felt gilty...but i think its just cloud imagination...whe can see aeris touching his arm...but...he dont touch her, he ever cant see her face..some friends of mine said ith because cloud fell guily so he cant llook ito aeris eyes..but i said, when someone dies, his memory cant be remembered perfectly, his face cant be remembered very wel..do it: thing at someone you havent seen in many times, trie to see his or her face and you will see its dificult. I could be wrong, but I really don't think Aeris is simply just a memory of Cloud's. I think she's actually in spirit form, and that would explain why Cloud appears to be communicating with her. From what I've seen in the trailers, he seems to be the only one with that ability though, and I'm pretty sure this is Square's way of showing us the bond they have due to their unsurpassing love.

I think Aeris comes back spiritually to help Cloud overcome his pain and guilt about her death so that he can stand back up on his own two feet in order to defeat Sephiroth and the clones. Whether I think she gets revived or not, I'm not going to say. It would be REALLY interesting to see if Square can actually come up with a creative way to bring her back though...

Why she hasn't contacted him before this two year period, I'm not sure (for all we know, maybe she already has?). Why now? Maybe now happens to be Cloud's greatest hour of need...evil clones, the destruction of the planet, geostigma...all entertwined with his grief. It's all so over-whelming! Poor Cloud... :(

I've wondered why Aerith and Cloud haven't had any contact in the last two years, as well. Cloud was portrayed in both FF Tactics and KH as trying to find Aerith, so why would Square suddenly represent him as not finding her for two years? Would Cloud's guilt get in the way of that?

I can't believe that he hasn't at least tried to find her during the last two years, especially when Square has portrayed Cloud as doing that in two other games. If Cloud's been living in her Church, I also can't believe that there hasn't been some sort of communication between them.

Perhaps that's all that Square was able to "throw together" for the Film Festivals, and the actual story is different. We'll have to wait and see, but I'll be very disappointed if Square doesn't at least show that Cloud's been trying to find her for the last two years, as he's been portrayed in other games.

Not only will I be disappointed, but confused as well. You're right though, we haven't seen the movie so we really can't say much about it 'til after we've actually seen it.

There IS something that kind of bothers me though. I don't think it's even fair at all to Square to have fans (cloriths/clotis) nagging them all the time for their ideas and creations. They may be disappointed, but true fans will remain fans regardless of what the creaters do with the story plot. I, for one, want to actually see a movie composed of Square's creativity and true intentions, not some movie for the sole purpose of fan service.

I'm just saying though. Maybe all these cloriths and clotis aren't even affecting them for all I know. I would imagine that, by now, Square would have done something for those Clotis already if this was just all based on fan service.

I agree, especially since Nomura said that some of the footage seen by audiences is being revised and since some of the footage contradicted prior interviews with Nomura.

However, Nomura also said that there's as many interpretations of FF7 as there are gamers, and that the FF7AC team had decided not to contradict the various interpretations held by gamers. Doesn't that mean that Square has already been influenced by fans rather than coming up with something based on their own intentions?

I personally think Cloud is daydreaming during the flowerfield scene. I dunno... I just think Cloud would be more excited than he appears to actually come in contact with Aeris again. But I know that Square will put in more of Aeris as MORE of a dream/memory in AC since they did say the Aeris fans won't be disappointed. And I trust them. That scene was just a teaser for the fans. So I think he's daydreaming. A little tease before the real scenes involving Aeris. Especially how she says "Let's go, Cloud". That has me excited.

And I think Cloud has been confused and down on himself the past two years. Square hasn't been able to communicate anything that Cloud has been doing for the past two years yet. So I wouldn't get worried about there being no evidence about Cloud trying to find Aeris again.

OR...just maybe that means that they won't go with anyone's interpretations/ideas. You know...maybe it's too difficult to please everyone so they've decided to ignore the fans... :D

No matter what Square plans to do, (just because there are so many interpretations) at the end of it all, someone's going to end up happy and someone's going to be upset. I just know it...
I guess the only true way to see true intentions from Square is if they come up with something completely new.

I'm excited about the movie 'n all, but I've always thought that sequels of movies, games, etc. are NEVER as good as the original just because of things like the influences from fans. The creaters don't think as much for themselves. In a way, it's kind of sad...
