The Flower Field Scene; A possibility?

The flower field scene has always seemed a bit odd to me - in the first place, it doesn't seem right to me that Cloud hasn't seen Aerith in two years, yet the flower field scene makes it appear that way. Cloud and Aerith don't seem surprised to see one another. Aerith just asks Cloud, "What are you doing here?" instead of greeting him. Cloud asks for forgiveness instead of greeting Aerith. Aerith also says something to the effect that it meant a lot to her that "he came all this way to see me", when Cloud was actually there to save the children. Why would she consider going to the Sleeping Forest "coming all this way" to see her? If you ask me, this all just seems "wrong".

So, I'm beginning to wonder about it. Perhaps Square didn't show the actual circumstances of the scene in the premier. They may have wanted to fit it into the premier somehow, and this was their easiest way to do it.

What if the flower field scene was actually Cloud remembering what had happened when he went to see Aerith two years ago?

Well, I donīt think that this is a remembered scene of two years ago, because then Cloudīs clothes would be the same that in the game... What clothes is he wearing in the burialīs scene?
Iīm worried because I think that perhaps it is only one of a few scenes where they show us our dear Aeris... surely, sheīll only appears in the burialīs scene, in the flower field and in the end of the movie and in the rest of the movie, we īll only hear her adorable voice.

What do you think, guys?? I think that Tifa will appear a lot in this movie( unfortunately) because they want to promotion her, and Iīm sure that Tifa will appear, too, in the Vincentīs game, Dirge of cerberus... We have to be mentally prepare because I tink that we are going to lose this time against the clotis...

Good point that he's not wearing his old clothes, but that doesn't mean that it's not a scene that he is remembering. It may have happened a few months after the end of the game. After all, we don't know when he changed clothes. The point is that perhaps he is remembering when he went to see her rather than it actually happening on his way to rescue the children.

It just makes more sense to me that the flower field scene happened in the past rather than happening within the current events of the movie.

No, she doesn't appear to have many parts in the movie, but that doesn't really mean that she doesn't have a significant part in the movie, either. She didn't appear often in the second and third disks of the game, either, yet she still played a significant role in the second and third disks.

I'm not sure that we're going to "lose" to the Cloti's. When Visual Works came up with the idea of the Advent Children, Cloud and Tifa had the only roles in the movie. When Square took the project over, they re-wrote parts of it and added other characters. However, Square is apparently working from the original premise that Visual Works came up with.

Does this mean that it's a Cloti movie? I hardly think so. What if the original premise of the movie was that Cloud died? What if the original premise of the movie was that Cloud and Tifa tried to make it to the Promised Land, like they said at the end of the game? What if the original premise of the movie was that Tifa had to deal with letting Cloud go because she knows that his heart is with Aerith?

After all, I think it was Visual Works who made the FFVII commercial showing the caption of "Love" over Cloud and Aerith's heads. ;) Just because Tifa has more screentime does not mean it will be a Cloti movie.

It's definitely out of context, but I don't think its too off. Cloud may very well be coming to the Forgotten City to save the children AND see Aerith, but will only admit to the former, but Aerith with her infinite wisdom knows better. It struck me that Aerith had a rather smug grin on her face, like she knew something that she wasn't letting on to Cloud. I think it's definitely an understatement to say that there's gonna be much more to the flower scene than what's been revealed.

It could also be that there were more than one flowerfield encounters, and what we've seen have been splicings of them together to make them look like one scene...

well all cloti fans think that bcos aerith is dead and that tifa's in the film that cloud would end up with her so to me its no surprise that they think itll be a cloti film.

There are two really likely endings to Cloud's Story, one is that he dies noblely and redeems his sins and stays with Aerith forevermore. The other is that he defeats erm... someone from the past and redeems himself that way allowing himself to move on.

They seem the most likely.

What they say to one another just sounds more to me more like something that would have been said a year ago, or 1.5 years ago. The context of what they say to one another is more suitable for a few months after the ending of FFVII than in the current frame of events. That's why I'm suggesting that Cloud may be remembering something from a year ago or 1.5 years ago as he approaches the Forgotten City.

I completely agree with you. I don't think we've seen the whole scene, nor do I think it's happening in the context they showed it to happen in.

That sounds very possible to me.
