To touch the light I see in your eyes...
|
The recording of the Montreal Film Festival confirmed that it's Aerith saying, "Let's go... Cloud...." in the AC premier. It's not clear yet when Aerith speaks this, or in what context she speaks this. It's also not clear whether this is a flashback, or whether Aerith is speaking this to Cloud during the events of the movie. I'm interested in what everyone thinks about this line! Here is where we see the line in the different Film Festivals. From the premier shown at TGS: Cloud’s expression turns fearless, and the strength to back that up can clearly be seen manifesting itself upon his face. And with all that change and all that strength within himself, more than anything, Cloud’s mind begins to tell its tale. ----Zack: "Cloud, what do you plan to do when we get to Midgar? We’re friends…right?" ----Zack: "Cloud! Run for it!!" And a fleeting image of Zack raising his sword crosses his mind. Staring at Fenrir, Cloud holds on to his left arm. The symptoms of Geostigma still cannot clearly be seen. ----Aerith: "Let’s go…Cloud…" ----scenery of a lake, and a splash of water like something has been dropped inside --- ==== From the recording of the Montreal Film Festival: (Aerith's church) Kadaj "Mother! Mother... MOTHERRRRR!!!!!!! Oooooooh...." ---- Zack "Hey, Cloud, what do you plan to do when we get to Midgar... friends...right?" Zack "Cloud, RUN FOR IT!!" Aerith "Let's go...Cloud..." Tifa "The strong feelings that we had two years ago during the final battle, feels like they have dulled somewhat now, two years down the road. But now, it seems as though they have been re-ignited within Cloud." Kadaj commences to scream. Sephiroth "I....won't be just a memory." ==== It appears to be a flashback of something Aerith said to him during the game, but flashbacks are usually of a significant moment. At what significant moment did Aerith say, "Let's go, Cloud?" Or... could Aerith possibly be saying, "Let's go... Cloud..." as he approaches Sephiroth because she is going to help Cloud fight Sephiroth's spirit? |

Hmmmm, golly. I'm sorry! I really don't know what to make of it! Maybe it was another thing that got Cloud going? And the splashing lake....Lakes in FF7 are also associated with Aeris...yet another total mystery until the movie comes out! |

Here's a more detailed description of that part. "The scene changes again to a rainy shot of Cloud standing outside of a temple, next to its supporting pillars, with Fenrir at his side. There is a pink ribbon attached to his left bicep and he is seen gingerly touching it, almost afraid to come into contact with it. The setting changes again, but this time, to a large body of water with several buildings in a blurred background. An amazingly clear and focused drop of water falls into the water, splashes and a disembodied voice is heard saying, "Let's go, Cloud". The screen slowly fades away into white and everything disappears." From DAEYA.ORG |

Oh, wow!! I started this thread before Daeya.org published that part, so I hadn't seen that yet... Very interesting! That doesn't appear to be a flashback... does it? *howl* Why would Cloud would be reaching for the ribbon as if afraid to touch it, though? It saddens him too much, perhaps? |

Geez, I dunno... what could that large body of water be with buildings surrounding it? We were thinking before this that the body of water was the lake where Aerith was buried, but it doesn't appear to be that. And what temple is Cloud standing in front of while touching the ribbon? I think the people at Daeya.org would have recognized Aerith's church, so it's apparently not her church. My impression is that Aerith's spirit is leading Cloud somewhere at this temple and body of water, and she's encouraging him to follow. Perhaps her spirit has taken him someplace that will help him fight Geostigma, the SHM, or Sephiroth? For those of you who haven't seen that page, it's at: Daeya.org with some interesting screenshots! The other thing is that the scene with Tifa saying, "The strong feelings that we had two years ago during the final battle, feels like they have dulled somewhat now, two years down the road. But now, it seems as though they have been re-ignited within Cloud." does not appear to be in Cloud's memory. It appears that Tifa was talking to someone else about Cloud, and that it takes place when he's not around.

Probably the materia dropping... remember her death scene in the game? The materia plunged into the lake... but then again, it could be another thing, right? ![]() Anyway... at that point when he's afraid to touch it... maybe it's the part when he still hasn't decided to forgive himself and he's still guilty about something. |

And they didn't show it?!? *scream*
Daeya.org says that it's a drop of water, not the white materia... but they could be wrong. And the body of water is surrounded by buildings, so it's not the lake where she was buried. Perhaps this is the underground temple where Aerith was killed? That would make sense, since Cloud is probably feeling overwhelmed with grief while returning there... touching the pink ribbon in that way may signify just how painful the remembrance of her death is for Cloud in that situation. |

Ya know, that makes perfect sense. The temple down there was IN a lake, and it had columns(ya know, the ones Cloud jumped across and the ones in the water). I really think that's where it is. But why did the fish let him past NOW and not THEN when I wanted to go back in there! Grr! Meanie Nemo! I've got a question that's slightly off topic. Why did Cloud wave the others back right before the death scene? He wanted a moment alone with Aeris? |

I know!! I want to see it, too! Everyone go post at Daeya.org saying you want to see that pic!! Their forum's at Daeya.org Forums. If enough of us ask for it, they just might show it.
That's what I always thought it meant. Vincent waves the others away in the same way when they find Lucrecia under the waterfall, too. In fact, when I saw it the first time, I thought Cloud was going to tell Aerith he loved her when he got to the altar. I had no idea what was going to happen.

I think it must be Aerith's spirit communicating with Cloud. That's what the Japanese believe so I think there'll be some Japaense influences in AC as there was in FFVII. The Japanese always believed that since each person had a body and a spirit, lovers could always communicate--even if they died, because the two could communicate with their spirits. But what death scene...is this a confirmed fact? *feels lost and stupid* But then again, where is the place when Aerith says, "Let's go...Cloud,"
I say we hold up an e-petition and one of us go post it at the forums. We have to really, really polite and just suck up ;). Evil people for not showing...they want to see us suffer. GRR! |
