How Will Cloud Meet Aerith?; Will he have to die?

I think that Cloud will meet Aerith in Advent Children. How Cloud would meet Aerith is one of the great mysteries of FFVII, and AC will be a perfect place for Square to show us how he would do it. I also think there's a large fanbase of people wanting to see Cloud meet Aerith, so I hope that Square does it!

How do people think that Cloud will be able to meet her? Will he have to die in order to meet her, or will he be able to meet her in the Lifestream without dying? Cloud wasn't dead during the hand reach scene in FFVII, and he almost touched her hand. Cloud isn't dead in the flower field scene in AC, either, and Aerith was able to touch his arm.

So what do people think will happen? Will Cloud die and be permanently re-united with Aerith, or will they meet in another way?

Hmm, I somehow think they will meet in the battle with Sephiroth, and in other places in the movie..which I probably don't know about..and in the church..SQUEE!

Well..I WANTED Cloud to die in the end so I could be more happier about that, Velvy in ACF (one of our Cleris) said she had an inside source of Square that said the ending would be sad..I believe her. because EVERYTHING POINTS TO THAT!

you are right, the theme of the movie is saving children, not manly men!

Yeah, there's a lot of things pointing to a sad ending to the movie... Cloud dying would be just about the only way Square could rival the heartwrenching shock of Aerith's death in FFVII, too. I would hate for Cloud to die, but I would also love for him to be re-united with Aerith.

We'll just have to see what Square does, but I doubt very much that AC will have a happy ending. Cloud has always been a tragic character, and FFVII was a tragic story. Why would they suddenly change Cloud into a happy-go-lucky character who rides off into the sunset to spend the rest of his life with no cares in the world? That just wouldn't be characteristic of Cloud.

Whatever happens, I just hope that he and Aerith are together somehow at the end of it... even if it's just spiritually.

Hmmm yeh i agree that the ending hsa to be sad and frankly i wouldn't be happy if it wasn't it was one of the greatest things of FF7, the pure emotion behind the story.

However i'm rather anxous at how they'll do it.

If as most people suggest Cloud dies and meets Aeris in the Lifestream then well will that be a truly SAD and ending. Melancholic because hey no one really wants to see Cloud die but at the same time it's not what i would call truly sad as Cloud has what he wants. Which leads me to believe that Cloud will die somehow and die in a way in which he meets Aeris and is wrenched away from her yet again.

Now that would be sad.

as much as i think cloud's death will make a beautiful end to this tragic story i don't think he will <_<
Becos I think the last thing Aerith wants is for Cloud to die. Somehow, she will save him from his impending doom <_< stupid but lovely aerith :(

You make a good point, but Cloud dying is sad enough for me whether or not he meets Aerith. To have him not be re-united with Aerith on top of it would be absolutely devastating. I hope they don't go that far!!

Perhaps, although we don't know the circumstances of his death (if he dies). She may be able to talk him out of a reckless decision that would cost him his death... but if he dies due to Geostigma, will Aerith be able to save him from that? Ifalna didn't save Aerith from Sephiroth's sword, yet Aerith had to die in order for Holy to work. If Aerith were faced with a similar circumstance, would she save Cloud?

Oh God I know what you mean!!! Square won't be that cruel as to land a double whammy on us... if Cloud has to die... *sigh* then the poor guy deserves to be with Aeris. He deserves some happiness.
However.
If they were to resurrect Aeris, (which I doubt will happen, but it'd be so cute) I'd want a wedding between the two by the end of the movie.
Alas, that to me is just not FF's style. Cloud and Aeris share a tragic love, and FF goes for the tear-jerking, emotional, heart-felt stories we've all know and love.
In short, I want them together, bottom line. And they better be together... *shakes fist*

I agree... the ONLY way I could take Cloud dying is if he'd be with Aerith again. I'd much rather see him die and end up with Aerith than have him live and end up with Tifa. Even if Cloud doesn't die, though, I doubt he'll end up with Tifa. Why would Square risk making so many Cleris fans angry?

Ideally, I'd love to see Aerith resurrected so that she and Cloud could be together, too... Square did it in FFX-2, but I doubt they will do it in AC. In a sense, they already resurrected her in KH to be with Cloud, and I think that's as far as they will go with a resurrection of Aerith, unfortunately. I'm hoping that more will happen between them in KH2.

I've already said in other places that i don't want her resurrected but hey that's me.

I understand where you're all coming from but...well the reason i think they might do it is because well is Cloud dying BUT bring reunited with Aeris in doing so really so sad?

Melancholic certainly but not sad. Well ok so I don't see it as being all that sad but then what am i saying Cloud dying to his fangirls would be pure horror.

Hmmm it seems i'm out of step here. But for me the sadder the ending THE BETTER. And i welcome Cloud being torn from Aeris in some way though they MUST be reunited for atleast a little while.

But FFX-2 well there was a more concrete reason behind that resurrection. Like i said elsewhere KH 2 will come out after AC and if CLoud dies i think we can say goodbye to him in KH 2. Not because he's dead but because of respect i guess.

This is the way I imagine it:
Aeris helps Cloud win his current battle from the spirit world, then, after the bad guys been killed, there's a glowing light behind him and she steps out of a cloud of Lifestream. He goes to her, they embrace, and then they disentigrate into lifestream(like Sephy did), and fade away. Together forever*Sigh, starry eyed*
OR!
After Cloud defeats the badguys, he collapses from the pain of Geostimga, grasping his arm. Then, a gentle hand rests on top of his. He looks up and sees her, then she kneels and gathers him into her arms, then they fade into a bright light.
Either way's fine with me! Just so long as they're together!
I've gotta admit, I do hope Cloud dies. Because then they could be together, and he wouldn't have to suffer anymore. However, CloTi's would say that doesn't prove he loves her, and they couldn't be together because the lifestream is what it is(however, Aeris can speak with the dead, and the dead can be seen in the Temple of the Ancients, and she can talk to him and touch him in AC), blah blah blah <_<
I'd love it though!

He'll meet her when he dies... and when he dies, he's holding (or touching) that pink ribbon he has. ^_^
And then they'll be together forever and they'll fill their world with love and little Clouds and Aeriths frolicking around... *oh such a darling image in my head...* :P *swooning again...*
*smacks self to stop swooning* <_<

This thread made me all teary eyed! :P

I kinda do hope Cloud dies too. Because Aeris IS his Promised Land. And like he said at the end of FFVII, he thinks he could meet her there. So I can picture Cloud dying at the end after saving the world again and him being with Aeris forever. Tifa, Vincent and all them would definately be sad but they would be happy in a way. Finally his struggling life has ended and he would be happy. Argh, now I'm crying. Square better not disappoint me! :ph43r:

Little extra note: So far, Cloud has yet to be seen in Dirge of Cerberus. And that takes place after AC. So who knows.

I don't think that he will have to die. I think he will see her in a dream or vision of some kind.

Actually,Cloud does not need to die to meet her as I don't think Aerith would like that. She might not allow it, for the man she loves to die for her sake, but would be glad to be with him atlast.

But in the end it is up to Cloud to make a decision.

There might be ways for Cloud to meet her without committing suicide . There are still books based on research done by Proffessor Gast about the Cetra and Red XIII with his grandfather Bugenhagen may have ways of they're own to help him, if he asked.

But I leave it to Square to decide as Final Fantasy belongs to them.

All I hope for is that Cloud and Aerith are together, whether it be in the Promised Land or in the real world with their teammates :D .

That's uncharacteristic of Cloud to commit suicide and besides I don't think anyone wants Cloud to do that.

Anyway I can totally imagine Cloud sacrificing himself for the childrens' shake. Maybe then he can be with Aerith.
