Cloud and Tifa were never childhood friends, I'd like to point that out and emphasize it. heehee. And as Sefie had mentioned... the TifaxCloud date was really very one-sided. I'd have to agree... Tifa's just simply selfish, I guess.... I don't even wanna see the CloudxTifa date thing in the game... so I always make it a point to have Aerith as his date... or for fun, I try Yuffie and even Barret. ![]() But anyway, when Aerith in AC said "Let's go, Cloud..." in one sequence (I'm not sure if it's a flashback)... does that mean something? Like maybe she'll take him with her already? For instance, he'll die?

It is interesting that she didn't say, "Hey, Cloud, let's go on a date". Aerith did. Why didn't Tifa?
It could be a flashback. However, Aerith could also be with Cloud in spirit and is willing to go with him into the fray. Or, he could be dying...

Maybe Tifa has convinced herself that they were indeed childhood sweethearts, even though we see in the Lifestream sequence that they weren't close at all and hardly knew each other. Perhaps she feels guilty that she can't tell him the truth, so she eventually convinces herself otherwise. That might be why she says that on the date. I don't think that line from Aerith (Question! Why have you come here?) sounds particularly cold, I think it's in character for her. She sounds as upbeat as usual, and we know she sometimes speaks without thinking, so she probably didn't mean it to sound cold at all. |

Ya know, that's what I was just thinking about last night. Why was Tifa under the impression that they were childhood friends? She did the same as Cloud, she pretended until she believed it. And I agree about Aeris' line. It didn't sound cold at all. I don't think that it was terribly friendly, but it did get her point across. |

Hmm... which brings out her selfishness, I guess. It sickens me... It's like she's also been blinded by a false fantasy. Or maybe the fact that she's "in-love" with Cloud could just be another one of her fantasies due to some guilt because she has once rejected him (in a way or two) from childhood... Never mind; this isn't a Tifa forum anyway. ![]() And Aerith's statement... hmm... it actually sounds probing. As if she wants him to tell her something more. It could be a way of learning more things about him; like she wants him to warm up to her again by telling her everything he's thinking of. It's like a matter of trust, I guess.

I don't think Tifa's ncessarily selfish...I think it's the fact that she felt guilty the way she and friends treated Cloud during their childhood...When did Tifa's crush on Cloud start anyway? Tifa made a sacrifice at the end of the FMV that shows that--because you see that she finally realizes that Cloud and Aerith are meant to be *grins insanely*--she accepts the fact that Cloud will only like her as a friend, and since she wants him to happy because she loves him, it's quite a sacrifice of her own. Even if she loves him, she'll accept that Cloud loves Aerith and as a friend, she accepts it--and being the cheerful one, I imagine she'll try her best to be happy about it. |

Aerith's little sister

Of all the games I ever played, I think Cloud and Aerith make the sweetest couple I've ever known. I even shed tears during the scene where Sephiroth stabbed her and when she was buried. I hope in Advent Children they'll bring her back. Was really glad to see her again in Kingdom Hearts. Talking about Tifa, I think it was when Cloud called her to the Water Tower when they were younger in Nibelheim was when he realized him and started liking him. But other than that I'm not really sure as I'm not a big fan of her. I don't hate her by the way. Ai... All work and no play till my mind has gone topsy turvy. Luckily the term is ending and Hari Raya (something like Christmas but for Muslims) is coming  but there's exams afterwards *yikes* .

Well, IMO, Tifa's feelings for Cloud grew when he left Nibelheim. I mean, think about it. When, he called her out to the well, she wasn't sure what to think. They weren't friends, weren't close at all. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if she only went because she felt guilty about Cloud getting blamed for her falling off Mt. Nibelheim. Tifa didn't seem interested in Cloud personally until he mentioned leaving to join SOLDIER and told her that he was going to be as powerful and famous as Sephiroth. Then, she suddenly begged him to promise her he would come rescue her one day. Why? Because she wanted to fulfill a fantasy of hers that involved being rescued by someone as powerful and famous as Sephiroth. And so, the promise was pretty selfish on her part, but Tifa was very selfish as a child (this all changed when she grew up, as PinkRibbon pointed out). Anyways, while Cloud was gone, what did Tifa do? She was all alone, all of the boys in town had left. She told Cloud she thought of him a lot and checked the papers often to see if she could find anything about him. She truly believed Cloud would become powerful and famous and would, one day, be her hero. In fact, I would say it is safe to assume that Tifa daydreamed of the day when her "hero" would return and fulfill the promise. She had an image of Cloud in her mind that turned out to be completely false. She made him out to be her ideal hero, something that he just wasn't. And the CloTis claim that Aerith never knew the "real" Cloud... Pffffttt... |

About Tifa selfish thing, FF_Goddess, good points. Thanks to people who answered my question--you can find me having memory losses at times; my own family sometimes called me Dory from "Finding Nemo"--bet you can guess why, lol ![]() Some of the CloTIs arguments don't make sense usually... |

Most of them don't Anyways, yes, VERY good points FF_Godess, and I think that they're all 100% true! And Pink Ribbon, what you said about the ending is one reason I like Tifa so much. She's so sacrificing and sweet. it's hard to do something like that, to just accept that the guy you want loves another, and to let him have her simply because you love him that much. " If you love them let them go..." Or cripple 'im so he can't get away! |

Cloud and Aeris are a great couple! They were just meant for eachother. I really don't think that Cloud ever liked Tifa as more than just a friend. It was Aeris who he fell in love with. Also I just can't see Cloud and Tifa together. They just wern't meant for eachother the way Cloud and Aeris were. :) |

Cloud and Tifa were both closed off, quiet people. They'd never know how the other felt! Tifa: (gee...I wonder if cloud wants eggs for breakfast...) Cloud: (Gee...I want eggs for breakfast.....) Plus they're both such unhappy tragic characters. They both need a lighter, happier person in their lives. |

I find Tifa to be a very depandant person. Which is why I can't see her with Cloud. He needs someone indepandant and free because he isn't the type of guy to gave a girl hanging off of him for her every need. Aeris is just perfect for him. I really just hope that Square won't mix it up and make Aeris tell Cloud to go be happy with Tifa. I would cry... |

Ya know, I'm starting to worry about all the CloTi friendly stuff Square's putting out. Why're they DOING that? Trying to make CloTi's feel better? Giving them more ammunition so the debates will continue? SE STOP THAT!!!!! Just fueling the fight ISN'T gonna make it ANYMORE popular! It just frustrates people and turns the fans against each other! It's just plain EVIL. |

Yes, they are giving the Cloti's fuel to feed on, and it's making me unhappy, too. They've got nothing definite whatsoever, and there are lots of Cleris indications, too. However, I never expected SE to give the Cloti's as much as they are giving them. I have to wonder if it's because Sakaguchi is no longer with Square. It's not like Square to put out two wallpapers of Cloud and Tifa in Itadaki Street. They've always shown Cloud and Aerith together, not Cloud and Tifa. What is Square doing? |
