Got that right, Pat...and tomorrow afternoon and evening here, as well... Waiting for the cleaning lady; she is nearly an hour late...gee, I hope she didn't forget us! It is partly cloudy and much warmer; going to 50 tomorrow. Can't say I really like it, but am glad I didn't wrap burlap around the hydrangea yet; I'd have to unwrap it! Going down soon to get the roast and the last-minute fixings (read: stuff I forgot yesterday!) Linda is here. Phew!

We got a phone call @ 6:02 in the morning - turned out that my wife may be working alone today (the Manager is on vac.) and the lady junior to HER fell and injured her leg this morning. Oh well - at least they close at 3:00 today, not 4:30 as usual. Like an idiot, I felt okay so decided to stay up. That's allowed if it's YOUR choice, isnt it? Not quite 6:30 and the forecast is for "showers" for Christmas - that sure sounds odd. High of +6 c. and "partly cloudy", which means we will even see some sun! Have to buy some Lottery tickets for stocking-stuffers - at least the road will be no problem for the (empty) pick-up. |

Good morning, (love your announcement Pat)....... Frank brought me coffee in bed this morning, the house was too cold to get up. He also ran out at 8 this morning to pick up 3 loaves of bread from a great bakery here in town. I have to wrap it and freeze it til Christmas. I was too late to place an order for Christmas Eve. I was going to make garlic bread for Christmas but changed my mind, enought garlic in the sauces. Last minute things to do today...........Got down to 31 degrees last night........wowzer.......cold........ Anyone traveling be safe and Merry Christmas. :merry: |

![]() Update on my craftroom: ![]() Sewing area. I won’t have any upper cupboards ‘til after Christmas and Haydn is going to make me a matching desk for my serger. He’ll put a new arborite counter on both of them that will make one long surface for when I ‘could’ be working with quite a large quilt. ![]() That’s my cube storage cabinet that needs to have the four doors installed that I got from Home Depot. I may buy more doors if the cube starts to look messy. ![]() Computer area. That’s quite a long wall and everything should fit. Have to add another printer stand, desk, and filing cabinet along the right-hand side and another 30”x5’ bookcase behind the green chair. Haydn will be putting doors on the bookcases. ![]() I’m using a 4’ round glass table as a temporary cutting table. I’ll put an easel in front of the stool and use that area for painting and drawing. I’m absolutely thrilled with my new craftroom—have never had one before. It’s long overdue. I’m hoping that by putting doors on all the cabinets that I’ll be able to keep it neat and tidy. I didn’t want to put a rug on the floor because threads will get on it, but the room is too cold in winter not to have one. I’ll more than likely remove the rug in milder weather. The walls are pale yellow, the trim is white, and I’ll use a deepish gold for the counter tops and introduce California poppy red as the accent colour. It’s the room of my dreams and expect I’ll spend a great deal of time in it. I’m having second thoughts about completely removing my computer from the study and may just get a nicer amoire-type cabinet so when we have guests, the doors can be closed so the room doesn’t look messy. If I used my laptop in the basement, there wouldn’t be as much wiring with telephones and networked cabling. The laptop has wireless LAN. There is no toilet in the basement and it will be relatively difficult to put one down there because its below grade. I’ve heard that composting toilets can sometimes be smelly and need to find out if that is true before getting one. If they do stink, it would be better to inconvenienced and using the one upstairs. Wow, am I ever picky in my senior years—grew up with no indoor toilet. Now that I think about it, outdoor toilets reek! ----- I’m supposed to drive into London today to get my hair done, but it’s freezing rain. If the weather isn’t good enough, I won’t go. That would be a pity, because I wouldn’t be able to get mine and Christine’s presents to my Mother. May just have to postpone and go in tomorrow minus the hair appointment. Have a great day everyone. Oh, the good news is the campground in North Carolina now has WIFI so I’ll have the Internet while we’re there. See you, possibly tomorrow morning. Sylvia |

Great pictures Sylvia, everything looks nice and tidy. Nice room, I see Kermit The Frog sitting on a table.
Good news about the campground in N.C. having wifi, nothing like keeping in touch

Sylvia, That room looks lovely and I'm sure you will enjoy it Twiddling my thumbs. I lucked out and got an 11 o'clock hair appointment, which surprised me no end, so I'll be heading out in a bit... Did get some exciting news! My niece just had a baby boy! My brother has five daughters and four granddaughters - so this child I've named "The Prince." My parents had nine granddaughters - not a boy in the bunch. My brother already bought him a football - on the way home from visiting the hospital

Congratulations to your niece. Odd isn't it how one sex dominates families? In ours it was almost all boys. There were only two girls for almost a complete generation. Had only one female cousin, all the rest were (8) boys. That appears to not be the case with generations that followed mine. Started with mine--had one girl. Much more equally boys and girls with my daughter's generation and that has continued into her children--she had one boy and one girl. Sylvia |

Good day all! Another nice and unseasonably warm day predicted. They are saying we should hit 80 on Saturday and Sunday! But LOTS of smog. They have alerts on the news, heck, we can see the smog off in the distance. Pretty nasty. Not what I visioned when I think of Arizona. But we are near large cities, so I guess it's not so surprising. Sylvia, GREAT room!!!!!! Pat, contrats on yet another family member. I am sure your brother is as thrilled as you were at the arrival of a little boy! Yes Mur! It is allowed if it is your choice! Hope everyone is winding down on Christmas preparations, and getting a chance to actually enjoy the holiday. :carolers: :carolers: Have a great day all!!! |

The house is CLEAN!
:holiday: :holiday: Time to make the pies, this afternoon. This will be an easy meal; just put the roast and the Cornish hens into the oven; mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and cheesecake all being brought by niece, slice and butter the bread, wrap it in foil and put it in the oven for the last 1/2 hour; take the green beans out of the freezer and steam them, throw the salad together and slice the pies. Tadaaa: Christmas Dinner! Oh...I suppose I should make gravy.....

Jackie, I can almost feel your warm temps! I just got home, and it's positively balmy. Actually it's 45 which is great. I had to get some last minute milk, drop off film, etc...and unfortunately ran into two more gifts for Patrick and Colleen. Their mother will love me - an electronic guitar and little drum. Two kid band They are cheap little toys, but loud :holiday: :holiday:

Something about Christmas and small children just cries out for noise! As long as these toys do not stay in our house (and we do have a growing stock of toys) they are fine with me. I only have one noisy one - a Sit 'n Spin that has four rock songs on it. I gave each family one too a couple of years ago. That's a fun toy and they like it, except it won't turn off until it feels like it Scared the painters to death last December!

Sylvia, what a beautiful room! I always wanted a room where I could leave the sewing machine and the ironing board up all the time, so I could do a little on a project any time the urge struck. I used to sew everything; my husband's sport shirts, my daughter's Prom dresses, even made myself an Oscar de la Renta ball gown to wear to a very fancy do at BSO...I put the 28" back zipper in by hand! Wish I had a picture of myself in that dress...I still have the dress, but no way in H*** I could ever get it on now!
