Winter arrives at 1:35 PM (I think) so let's all go out and shovel together :holiday: It does look like a nice day - don't know the temp. Have to run out for some small gifts for my daughter to give to her kids - illness attacked their home last Friday and they have been running on empty timewise, so I will play elf. Just some little stuff to round out Santa. Other than that, basic every day stuff on the agenda. :snowfight: Happy Winter! Have a day

Good morning. Highs only in the 50's today. Wow, that's cold. I ran out last night to the post office to mail Christmas cards, I'm so late this year. Some food shopping on the agenda today. I will make the meatballs and buy everything to make a meat sauce, sausage and peppers and the ingredients to make stuffed shells. Wish they had an Italian deli so I could buy some good sausage. Still trying to wake up:coffee:
Where's everyone,? sleeping late this morning? Wake up people, Santa is almost here. :sleigh: |

Good morning! Glad you are able to get out, Pat; be careful on those icy roads! Chrissy, are you happy with the new carpet? We are frozen tight here, but due for a warm-up by Christmas Eve. I finally ordered the roast. What a conversation! It is the same every year: (Me)"Hi, Fred. I'd like to order a prime rib, ten pounds." (Butcher) "Bone-in?" "No, partially boned, please." "All right. How many ribs?" "Well, that doesn't mattter, as long as it's around ten pounds." "How many people are you feeding?" "Anywhere between eight and thirteen." "Big eaters? "No, average..." "Well, four ribs should do it." "Ok, as long as it's ten pounds". "Well, it MIGHT be more than ten pounds!" "No, no!, we tried that last year! According to what you told me, I ordered by the rib and the roast was so huge, I had to have you cut off a third of it and put it in the freezer!" "Oh, ok. So, you want a ten-pound roast." "That's right, ten pounds!" (WHAT is so difficult about that, you dingaling??!! No I did not say that!) Every year..... |

Heather, that's too funny.........My Mom always went to the butcher for meat. I remember she told me a story about the owner of the butcher shop asked her out......ofcourse she was married to my Dad. I asked how the sausage was? Very happy with the carpeting, bought something different for upstairs, the color is beige with peppering in it. |

Morning!!!!!
First day of winter huh???? Gonna be in the 70's here today! Suppose to be about 78 on Christmas Day. I think I am gonna get a couple santa hats and have our pic taken by the pool! Above average temps this week, but who is complaining????? I think I am gonna try Bigg's pecan pie today and a batch of icebox cookies. Sorry Heather, not quite the recipe you posted, not butterscotch ones, just regular. I can picture Abbott and Constello doing your butcher exchange! Chrissy, I beat you by a whole day with mailing Christmas cards, did mine Monday! It is always hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit, but especially hard when there are palm trees and 70 degree days. Almost wish it would be cold and snow just for the one day......but notice I said almost. Have a great one everybody!!! |

John, I had a man come thru my checkout last night and he had $770.00 worth of gift cards. (We sell gift cards for LOTS of stores) Talk about one stop shopping, and at a grocery store of all things!

Looks like we're in for another green Christmas - going to 15C (59f) here in High River today, not supposed to get below freezing until well into next week... Last of the snow should melt today, grass is already starting to turn green, trees will be budding before I know it, and I'll have to water them before they burn out, as the sap isn't running yet. It just doesn't FEEL like Christmas in Canada without snow... I HATE Global Warming... How do you stand it every year, Chrissy??? |

Groan, is it morning yet? the rain stopped, so we are gonna make a run for it. With luck, there will be calamari for dinner. Crab season, down the mountain. Oh, yumm. If this rig can make it up the hill, I'm gonna find me one of those "all you can eat" places. Oops, I forgot. Since this is California, Orson can go everywhere I do. Have you ever had deep fried oysters? Deep fried crab? OMG. Okay, then it is a date. If I can manage to make it up the hill... I am sooo ready for good food. |

Thank you, Mur! Someone has to keep these Floridians in line. I had a very profitable morning of errands. Before the snow started falling, which it is currently doing. Did three toys each for the kids, got the separate receipt etc...if she doesn't like them, she can take them back. The Kawaski drum business is quite loud! I was able to park on the end of the aisle so I hammered away at the ice on my car and sent it all over...too hard to do in our driveway. I had a good three inches of ice congealed there. Then off to rug exchange and looking and looking - and buying. I wore a sweater that almost matched the wall - a human paint chip. Don should be happy since I spent 1/2 of what I spent the other day, but he keeps muttering, clog, clog, clog
You know how it is when an empty room is crying out for things! Then I decided, well, why not do the grocery store too (no snow, remember) so I did and feel very accomplished. I hate to deal with parking lots and stores in snow. Everything is so slick and evil and you're wearing clunky boots. And there's ice and slippery floors Whine and cheese anyone? So, I'm in...and that's the rest of the story. |

Brewster, I grew up in New York and at one time was happy to get away from the snow and cold weather. We moved to southern Florida in 1972, I loved it when the weather was warm...........no longer. Living in northern Florida in the winter tempertures goes into the 20's at night, that's cold enough for me. I'll take snow flurries. :snowfight: Doc, I'll take deep fried anything.
Geez Louise............you people are getting mean. Must be all that cold weather and snow.

Chrissy, they're getting cabin fever a bit early this year; just ignore them and put on some more sun block.
