How did it get to be December 20 already????
Hope everyone is on the last leg of their holiday prep (not really on your last leg, obviously!)
Brrr! here with snow expected tonight - several inches. No worry about a green Christmas here - it's white all right :faint:
Hope no more chickens in danger, Heather ;)

Have a day :holiday:

Pat, they seem ok; they no longer stray out by the pine tree. Of course, they have King Charlie to keep them occupied (yes, Chrissy, I finally named him, since Tim said he'd take him. He will be ours for a few days yet, til a coop can be knocked together for him).

They are out there crowing at each other now. Makes me laugh, to think a little Bantam thinks he can take on a rooster three times his size. I bet he'd give him a run for his money!

The cutest thing; yesterday afternoon I took a whole slice of bread out to the Banties and dropped it in fromt of them. They'd never seen a whole slice before and the Alpha rooster circled it warily while the others hung back, eyeing it with suspicion. At length he decided it was ok and pecked off a piece, and dropped it in front of his favorite hen! ...and he kept doing this, even though he was hungry! Finally after the bread was half gone, he ate some himself. I didn't see him feeding the other hen; maybe to other rooster is doing that. I'll try again today.

Today's agenda: Make French bread, and defrost the freezers!

Cheryl washed my cell phone. I left it in a shirt pocket, but I DIDN'T put it in the laundry basket, so who would have thought it would get washed or she wouldn't check the pocket. Well, you know it's my fault... I took it apart and dried everything and put it back together, but the battery was ruined so go another battery and it worked but was quirky. I took it apart again, but this time it has given up completely on reassembly. (Too many operations for its feeble body to take.) Come Jan 13, my contract is up so I can get another one free so don't call me on my cell for now. :floorrollin: Other than that, I'm in a Christmas funk. I try to hum/sing Christmas carols while driving, but it irritates Cheryl (and anyone else within earshot I guess). My shopping is basically done; if you haven't received your gifts yet, they must have gotten lost in the mail. :floorrollin:
We got our health insurance increase (only 8% :faint: ); when will it stop? You guys are all the greatest!!! Merry Christmas to every one of you!!!

Good Morning. Finally got to sleep a little late, no one will be knocking at this door for awhile..
Upstairs is all finished. :holiday: :holiday: :holiday: Everything is painted and new carpeting went in yesterday. The guys laying the carpeting playing "country music" the whole time, the real twangy stuff. :biting: :biting: :biting: Finally around 6 they were gone. I will put the linens on the queen size bed and finish putting a few things back.

Never made the eggnog, so tonight that will be the main event. :)

Heather, good name King Charlie, at least he won't be someone's dinner. :pistols:

John, why would it be YOUR fault if you left the cell phone in YOUR pocket, YOUR shirt. :floorrollin: :floorrollin: :floorrollin: I wash Frank's pens all the time.........sometimes money, I keep it.

Pat, furniture today?

Wolfie, nice letter from your son, makes you all warm and fuzzy. My son Francis will be coming in late Friday night.

Pat, furniture today?

So I'm told ;) Between 9 and 1.
Edit - let's make that 10 and 1. :faint: I guess since I'm stuck here for a bit, I'll make crab dip and marinated Brussels Sprouts for a party we're going to on Saturday.

Glad Greg is home to stay, Jackie.

Good day all!!!!

Gonna be above average temps this week, and is suppose to be mid to upper 70's on Christmas day. Very strange. It'll be our first Christmas in shorts! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Greg is done work. He coulda worked this week, and the job would be closed next week due to the holidays, and after that the job is winding down anyway. He thinks working at that elevation and coming home to a lower elevation every weekend, played a role in his getting so sick. Will have to keep that in mind for the future.

Heather, that is a great name!!!!! Chrissy, glad the upstairs is done. I like country music, but NOT that old twangy stuff! :nono: Pat, furniture day!!!!  Karen, great words from your son!!!!

Work is, well work. Unless they could give me the same hours every week, it is not something I would want to do long term. But since it is only for a few months, I will deal with it.

Furniture came!!!!! I love it! Unfortunately, I'm loving it by peeking into three huge boxes, since delivery did not include unboxing and placing of furniture :( I'm dragging the cushions out of one box so I can see it in THE ROOM and I am very, very happy so far. The lighter stripe in the cushions is nearly a perfect match for the wall paint.

Now why couldn't I pick a rug color that was right  The rugs look even worse than I thought against the cushions! We'll regroup there. Now I can bring an ottoman cushion with me to match colors.

Sadly it's in the garage. The men couldn't get around to the back because of the drifts. One seriously asked if a path had been shoveled to get around back. We don't usually shovel the grass. :holiday:

Great news Pat!!!!

We (ok, Greg) use to snow blow part of the grass. A path for the oil man, since the fill was on the far side of the house, and Dylan potty spots! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

John, to funny about your phone. Things like that are the reason I don't wash clothes if they are not in the hamper. :nono: But, of course it is your fault! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:
Greg dropped his in the ocean once........salt water is VERY bad for them! :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Oh, we had to make dog paths - we'd have lost the dogs otherwise! They were all small to medium dogs and would have disappeared ;)

Good afternoon. That gave me a chuckle.

Very overcast today. ..surprisingly, it isn’t supposed to snow.

Too busy to post today with the exception of just saying, “Have a good day!”

Perhaps just to be contrarian, my christmas shopping was finished a couple of months ago. I don't know how this happened this year, but it did. There was this little shop by the side of the road in Southern New Mexico... Carved Onyx chess sets for just a few dollars each.... I guess it shouldn't surprise you how many people on my Christmas list play chess with me. LOL.

This was one of those amazing finds. It cost more in shipping than it did to buy them. I bundled some good software with them, so I can keep up with the games for my nieces and nephews. Each set is different. There is this one nephew who is going to beat me some day. He is still a little hesitant, but his moves are sometimes brilliant. This young sir is going to be an amazing individual. Just the way he asks about my 'bots would tell me this. He drives his family nuts, of course. The last time I visited, I introduced him to a few of my friends.

Would you like your child being introduced to a prof at Cal Berkeley who is investigating the quantum physics implications of the work of Alfred North Whitehead (the mentor of Bertrand Russell)? "Mom, of course two things can be in the same place at the same time, it is simple quantum physics." Be very happy that I am not an uncle to your child.... This particular nephew is a brilliant child and his parents love my interest, since he was not being adequately challenged. He is on my personal mailing list now, so he gets to talk with a socio-anthropologist, some psychologists who are on the fringe, a few quantum physisicists, and a variety of thinkers.

She actually thanked me for this. He used to come home and say his day was boring. Just imagine a brilliant child in the public school system. Now she is asking me for books to help her keep up with him, and she loves it. There have been a few hiccups, cine his parents are fundamentalist Christians. But they agree on chess. "you don't want to move your rook there because, in 6 moves, your queen will be in danger." His parents cannot see this.

This is a copy and paste I made of my post on the girlfriend board.

I wish I could laugh at my self this morning but I just feel like crying.....The smoke detector outside my bedroom door started doing a beep about every minute (obviously needed new battery) last evening and David was not here. That is a horrible sound to the puppies sensitive ears.

First I tryed wacking it down with a broom handle...it is on the ceiling. Then I grabbed my three step stool and was standing on the middle step (too dangerous to stand on top) on the top of my tip toes trying to unscrew it off. My arms are weak the way it is and I am not supposed to do anything above shoulder level cause part of my supporting neck ligament has been removed. So there I was with the tears running down my face cause I must have really popped that herniated disk further out. Detector finally fell on the floor.

Thank goodness I keep some prescription pain med on hand in case I really need it. So now I feel "goofy, nausated, and still have bad pain. I am so ticked off and frusterated...

Oh well I will get better

Real time :floorrollin: I am now feeling better and completely looped...still some pain but no longer at the lunatic stage.

If I am making spelling errors please excuse. :merry:
