Good morning.

Sun might peak out this afternoon and hardly any snowfall today.

I’ll work on Christine’s tree skirt today.

Have a great day.

Good morning........Always nice to wake up and see the nice graphic Sylvia posts.
I think I'm going to need toothpicks to keep my eyes open. I forgot to ask when the people will be here to lay the carpet so I'm up early. Frank left to visit his aunt but the painter said he may stop by to check things out.
Another cloudy, dreary day. Lots to do.

Furniture delivered yet Pat? :holiday:

Happy Monday all. :)

Happy Monday to you all!

Wolfie, so sorry to hear you are sick, and hope you are all better by the weekend!

Sylvia, cute birds. I hope they are keeping an eye on the sky!

We already have had great excitement here today; the hawk was back and sitting in a maple, keeping an eye on the birds (we always know when there's one around because ALL the dozens of little birds around the feeder just vanish). I waved a broom at him and he flew away. Later I was up here getting online and Mom called to me; the bold thing was sitting on the ground in front of the shed, trying to get at the big new rooster in the cage! The rooster was having none of that and was hollering and pecking at the hawk (he is three times his size and I doubt the hawk could possibly make a meal of him). I chased him all the way to the end of the backyard and he seems to be gone for now. The Banties are all staying indoors or very close to the shed this morning.

If this happens again, I'll try to get a photo of it before I chase it away!

Good news; I talked to my neighbor Tim (with the farm on Depot Hill Road) and he is going to come tonight to look at the big rooster. I'm quite sure he will take him! So I'll try to get a good picture of him before he leaves, whether it is for the farm, or that big chicken house in the sky! :floorrollin:

You must have thought of a name by now Heather, therefore if Tim doesn't want him...............

Chrissy, I have thought of a name, but I have to make sure Tim will take him first. Tim's wife won't let him kill any of their animals, that is why I have the Bantams!

No, if he stays here, he is going to wind up in the oven (I bet he'd run seven pounds or better!).

What a lovely day it is! No snow falling, sun's out, streets are clear, car is all scraped off - I'm off for places unknown that sell things :) Things to go with missing furniture ;)

No deliveries today due to massive paperwork, but we're slated for delivery first thing tomorrow   I can live with that. (I have no choice. At least the man was pleasant about it and somewhat apologetic.) Don't deal much with trucking companies, but this group seems to need better organization.

Karen, sorry you're sick! Hope you feel better. Heather - that chicken tale sounds pretty gruesome. If you cook him, will you kill him yourself?
Chrissy, good luck with carpet people. Sylvia, get quilting :) You must be excited to have the craft room all set up for your projects.

Have a day :holiday:

;) Oh my....the chicken situation is sounding serious. Heather....you could go down to the pound and adopt an adult dog to protect the chickens. That sounds more feasible then getting a cow for the shed heat. I have a feeling the mean hawk will kill them off one by one. :fryingpan:

We do have a responsibility to protect our pets

...even chickens. :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Sasha is only allowed to go outside with me right beside her because there are viscious owls that sit high in the neighbors pine tree. They put over 40 stiches in one of their cats and it barely lived.

Everyone have a great day...it has now finally warmed up to -06 degrees. David managed to get his car started yesterday. :merry:

Rain, rain, go away -- please? That isn't going to happy any time in the next few days, unfortunately. I had to work inside most of yesterday with the 20+ mph gusts were blowing the awnings pretty badly and my meager earthworks didn't do much to keep my campsite from flooding. I did some more work this morning, so we'll see how that works out. It stopped raining for a couple of hours, but two more storms are headed this way, so it is supposed to rain solidly through Thursday.

Christmas this year will be on the Monterrey Bay, with friends (assuming I can get out).

Sorry to hear that Karen and Murry are not feeling well.

The chickens are doing an amazing job of keeping themselves out of sight. They spent the better part of the day UNDER the shed....

Here is Mr. Rooster, the one our friend Linda gave us; don't you think Tim will have his heart stolen away?

Update: Tim came to look at the rooster and he is going to take him! He said the breed is something like "Old English"...?

I just made a big batch of Chrissy's eggnog and Tim asked for the recipe....your fame is spreading faster than my waistline, Chrissy!

Mom had two glasses...before dinner! Really, it makes store-bought eggnog seem so sickly sweet, gooey and flavorless!

Well, he looks like a lovely rooster and I'm glad we don't have to watch you kill him - for dinner.
As for the eggnog, I hope there's still a teeny little bit left in Chrissy's fridge for us. Please????

I'm glad too, Pat. Yes, I have killed many a chicken in my lifetime, and expect to do so again. I don't enjoy it; just one of those practical things that must be done...like making your own eggnog. :poke:

I forgot to mention; Tim brought me a little shotgun and three shells to use on the hawk should I see him again. I don't know what knd of trouble I could get into for discharging a firearm near a residence. I suspect quite a lot, so the gun may have to remain in the corner....or I might just take the neighbors some cookies and have a chat...

Good Evening, Checking in from work, 'puter not set up and won't be for a while. The CT closing went smooth as Butter....the NY closing was H*ll......the seller pre-signed papers cause she was too busy still moving out as I signed papers.....long story short, we closed at 3:30pm, we had to kick 'em out at 6:00pm.....they were all so drunk they could barely stand and left a mess behind that's gonna take weeks to clean.....I already condemmed the Shower Stall in the Master Bath, it's beyond cleaning and needs to be replaced....also all the Carpeting and all Appliances. They are moving to a Condo in Jupiter Florida......if they come to your area, you'll know it. I called the Post Office for a Mailbox Key and they wanted to know who moved, apparently they had 4 different last names living there. I've had nieghbors express how happy they are that they are gone and that we are here. So I'll try to check in when I can, but for now, it's gonna be hit n miss. Happy Holidays to all my Soapbox Family :santa:

Rick! Nice to hear from you; you've been missed.

Sorry the sellers turned out to be such terrible people; I know the neighbors will love having you live there. Congratulations!
