Hey, Wofie, you had better bet that there will be at least one of us here to note the time youth you get home. Turnabout is fair play. Wasn't it you that asked me about my recent "date"?

Sylvia, what a beautiful quilt! I just love the group of pretty houses.

Why is it rude to look at the back of the quilt? I would be curious what it looks like (though it didn't occur to me to wonder til I read your comment).

Andrea, wouldn't your quilt be warmer if the wool were on the bottom side, then the filling and something of a tighter weave on top, to hold in the heat? Just a thought.

If I made a quilt it would be on the wall. I love my down comforter, this time of year! Mom gave it to me for my birthday six years ago and I have never looked back. Nothing was ever so warm!

Oh, I got all the cookies finished and the tree is up and lighted, though not decorated. Alison and Katrina will be here first thing in the morning, for a fast 24-hour visit. I won't be here much but will definitely do some of the party! :xmascheers: :holiday: :xmascheers:

Andrea,
I would say down too. Quilts are deceiving since they are actually quite warm, but a winter month in a motorhome in Minnesota? Down - and a lot of propane :)

Sylvia,
Your quilt is gorgeous. My daughter used to quilt and made some lovely ones.

Heather ... actually I was joking. Looking at the back of someone's quilt is like looking at the back of someone's knitting, cross stitch or embroidery. When I have time, I will bury the threads so they can't be seen. Right now the threads at the back of my quilt are just hanging down. I left long leaders rather than make knots. I was taught it's better to leave long leaders so they're long enough to easily thread into a needle. Then you bury them into the batting part of the quilt sandwich by going between the layers with a couple of stitches, tightening the threads up then cutting them off. That way there is no bulky knot which would happen if the threads were knotted.

The back of my quilt won't show any knots after I've taken the time to bury the threads into the quilt sandwich. Because quilting is done after the sandwich is put together, the sewing goes all the way through and appears as lines wherever the quilting was done. Without the knots, it's very presentable. That same technique is used by knitters and needleworkers, except they weave their threads into what is there. They don't have layers to bury their threads. Expertly done needlework doesn't have knots that detracts from the neatness of the work.

Until I get the time to do it, I wouldn't want anyone peaking at the back however. :floorrollin:

Andrea, I agree about using down. You can use down instead of cotton batting to make your quilt extra, cosy, warm and light weight.

I am home now  as I have to go to work :faint:

I think I should get paid extra as only 2 of us have to go in an the other person was not at the party. I mean I could be sleeping to get rested for our party later today. :xmascheers:

Now Doc, lets talk about this date of yours ;) How many days after before YOU  checked in :floorrollin:

Most of my managers and coworkers all took time to stop and chat with my friend. Most of them went out to a bar after as we had no DJ this year, we left, so I am sure I will hear some  :poke: on Mon. We just had a fancy dinner. I was good  only 2 drinks.

Now Chrissy and Pat I did get home early, just check the time

Thanks for the suggestions... I bought an electric blanket a few days ago so that will help in the motorhome except when they update the electric in the house and the power is turned off. I will see if they have down at the fabric store. I can't put the wool on the bottom of the quilt cause it makes me itch.

I just got my bids in the mail yesterday. Low bid was over nineteen thousand and high was over twenty two. My loan is for $15,000. Ouch. I am cash broke the way it is..........

Oh well ....spring will come and I will go camp in Bear country by hook or crook.

It is a bright sunshiney day outside....end of a four day low system and snow storm. Karma is even in a good mood today. I think her hip that was operated on was hurting her yesterday cause she was in a bad mood. I put asprin in peanut butter for her but she watched me do it and spit it out :floorrollin: She kept snarling at Rommel when he was his silly goofball self.

Here is pic taken yesterday.

Andrea,
Not good numbers :( Can you get a grant or something since it's asbestos? Wait. That might be lead I'm thinking about.

Your yard looks like mine :) How much snow have you had? We're up to 54-55" with more on the way.

Pat ....it is lead...since it has been found...... by law I have to pay for removal. Low blow...the house can never be sold unless it is done. I will die some day and then David will be stuck with the mess unless I take care of it. So I will. ;)

I thought about that a little more...our daughter and sil got replacement windows ($$$) and were advised to look into a city sponsored grant to help with the cost since they had young children and there was lead based paint. But...there was a minimum income stipulation involved and they made too much to qualify.
You're right though - once it's identified it must be fixed.

Andrea, is there no type of insurance to help compensation this cost due to how it was attainted in the first place. Not to mention you have been living with this :faint:
