On Febuary 20th, I broke my leg. Before this, I used to be quite active on this forum. After I broke my leg, I was unable to use a computer for a few days. I had an operation, where they inserted a titainium bar down the middle of my tibia (lower leg bone). After about a week, I started working from home. Since almost 100% of my work is done on the computer and on the phone (I'm a programmer) I was able to do all my regular work. The problem was, it was still very painful working at the computer. I spent as little time on the computer as possible. As a result, I did not participate on this forum, and was unable to tell you guys what happened. When I finally recovered to the point where I was able to, I was reluctant because of the time I spent on this forum and how addictive it is. I was spending way too much time here and not doing my work! I guess I was afraid that if I came back, I would get addicted again and not get the work done that I should. I have desided to come back now, and hopefully I will be better able to control myself and get my work done. If I hurt anyone, I am sorry. |

Welcome back Alan and happy to hear you're doing well after a difficult surgery. My son broke his leg in a car accident quite some time ago, had a titanium bar inserted in his femur. Addicted to the forum? we all know what that's like, and certainly no reason to apologize.Again, welcome back. |

Very glad to see you back, but sorry about the leg! I have a bunch of titanium screws in my tibia just below the knee - it was no fun, so you have my sympathy. There were two other breaks farther down the leg, and I have often wondered if the bar would have been helpful. Oh, well. The sad part is that titanium plays no part in forum addiction Just enjoy

Thanks for the welcome!
Titianium may be a problem with forum addiction, though, because it causes my leg to hurt when its cold and I may stay inside at the computer when I should be outside shoveling snow or something.... |

People made of titanium do not shovel snow!!! Bite your tongue
We didn't even see a plow today until about 11:30AM, so they may be playing the titanium card too.

Well...there is more to the story. On june 2nd, I broke the same leg again! The second time I broke my femur where it connects to my knee. Very painful! There was a series of "micro" fractures on the bottom of my femur and it took a MRI to "see" them. These fractures are still healing. They are still painful, and I am able to walk without a cane or crutches, but I still limp. I probably won't be normal until the summer. Thanks anyway though!

Haydn, my husband, has a titanium knee. I believe the pins in my wrist are probably titanium but no one told me specifically what the material was for the pins. So there are lots of us that are becoming like the bionic woman or man. Just hope the material is as advertised and doesn't rust. abradf2519, welcome back and sorry to hear you had so many breakages with the same leg. Sylvia |

Welcome to the neighborhood! Maybe you'll see me on the Taconic State Parkway. I drive from Milan every week day to work on the TSP to Tarrytown, where I work. I no longer live in Poughkeepsie anymore. I'll have to change my sig... |

That's ok, Alan - "normal" folks are looked upon with some measure of trepidation around here, anyway. Sorry to hear about your bad luck - I guess this means Wimbledon is out for this year, eh? As far as the "net addiction" goes, I believe it was Darth Vader who said; "Once on the Dark side - always on the Dark Side!".... but we will do our best to help you if you get too carried away (Yeah... like any of us could tell! )
