So, my little puppy stuck his cold little nose under the covers to indicate that he would like to go outside. Halfway out the door he froze. I mean he just froze on the spot. His hackles went up, all the way to his tail. This is never a good sign. He has very good instincts, so I froze too. My first thought was that a bear was checking out our campsite. Worse.... SKUNK!!!! So there we stood, frozen in mid air, while this little critter sniffed and perused. Eventually, he wandered off. I'm about 65 miles from the nearest tomato juice. This could have been very very bad. Oh my. I have never seen his hackles go up in slow motion before. It really is an interesting process. Okay, I'm awake now. I mean I'm really really really awake, hee hee. Adrenalin can be a friend or foe. The weather here is mostly dark. Light precipitation of the snow-like persuasion. I'm inside, for a change. Gee, maybe I should put some pants on (blush). |

TMI, Doc! TMI!!Good morning to everyone; this is the coldest here yet this season; 19*. My chickies don't know what to make of that hard clear stuff in their watering dish! I have two and every morning take in yesterday's to thaw out and replace it with warm fresh water. They still hate to step in the snow and once they get out under the pine they stay there all day. Then they pick their way back, keeping to the thinnest spots and picking their steps slowly, lifting their little feathered legs high with distaste. What they are going to do when it REALLY snows, I have no clue! Got to go to Middletown this morning and take in a floor lamp; my brother managed to pull the plug off at Thanksgiving and the whole thing needs to be rewired. Also, mail the last three packages.. Have a fine day, everyone! |

Cold, grey and white outside! It's 21 and snowing heavily. 6" + expected through the day and it snowed at least 3" overnight. The birds are in hiding somewhere with the chickens :snow: The weatherman keeps calling this January weather. Nice day to make stew and scrub floors
The builders are busily hammering and sawing - they finished the siding yesterday because of the forecast and they were smart. Indoor work from now on in. They are waiting for the electrical inspector who should come around noon and and then the final interior walls can go up and painting and tile laying can start. Really coming together! Skunk In 35 years of dogs during our marriage, we have never run into one, thank God! Our daughters' dogs have - all big dogs. Lots of tomato juice. Have a day

![]() Picture of Grand Bend harbour at 0853 this morning. Good morning. Low today will be –6C/20F Snow is predicted with an accumulation of 5cm/1.97” expected between now and Thursday. The craft room was delayed because the underlay and boxes of flooring had been stored in the garage. It’s supposed to be in temperatures no less than 18C/68F for 48 hours before putting it down. The painting was finished Monday morning. Hoping to get started on it tonight. I’ll roll out the underlay so we can begin after Haydn comes home from work tonight. Orson is a very smart dog. Never had the experience of being sprayed by a skunk and never want to either. Sylvia |

Wolfie, (wait a sec, I had to stand up before I could bow to the goddess), you have my sympathies on the tooth fairy thing. I hope that the fairy was generous, Heather, your chicks must be shivvering. Mr. Belly, Orson has spent most of his life in the boonies. He has met bear, bobcats, and elk, right outside his door. The first time he met a bear was "very interesting". He indicated that he does not need to repeat that experience in the near future. Pat, brrrr Sylvia, brrr New pot of hot chocolate coming up, Anyone want to join me? Brrrrrr...... |

Howdy! Real sucky day so far! Ran out of propane last night (after I asked Greg this weekend to check the propane and was assured I was ok ) and got up at 2 am to about 53 degrees inside! :brrr: :brrr: Turned on the heat pump part of the a/c and it only seemed to be blowing cold air, so shut that off. Turned the fireplace on high, but that would take a long time, so turned on the convection oven for about an hour. I kept checking the stove top, and had flame, so didn't think the propane was out.
I felt especially bad for Dylan (he's not feeling well) being in the cold, but he seemed ok. Thankfully, there is a truck that comes in the resort 3 days a week to fill tanks, and today was one of the three!
Of course, I won't need it now until tonight, but at least they are full now. Gosh, I hope the day goes better. Will know when I get the results of Dylan's x-rays. |

Jackie, Good luck at the vet. In case you are the least bit nostalgic about sn**, here is the view from my computer. Excuse the screen, but it's too cold to open the window. In this shot you can see some of the "sunroom." Hah! Sun? ![]() It's kind of a dumb picture since everything is white and there is very little definition/contrast. This is what we see all winter - which is why we leave ![]()

-9* and thin, "watery" sunshine though the faint overcast. One more day of this, and then it's supposed to warm up to around the freezing mark. Good thing, too - the way there is "steam" rising off the water, the river looks close to setting up. A wintery day I can live with, but seeing ice half-way across the river just makes me feel... well, like a poor bloody Easterner, or something. ![]() I made shortbread yesterday - first time using my Mom's Sunbeam Mixmaster - came out much creamier than I am used to - had to chill it in the fridge to use the cookie press, and even then they came out much "flatter" than I prefer. The candied cherry bit sticks up like.... well, never mind, but it has something to do with Pam Anderson. Jackie, perhaps you could suggest to Greg that his spending the first night home sleeping under the fifth wheel would sharpen his talents at estimating the Propane levels in the tanks.

Perhaps I could have been a bit more coherent. ROFL. Okay, perhaps I could have been a lot more coherent. The clothing issue was due to the fact that it was c-c-c-cold outside so I stayed inside. Really, I did not remove my pants before posting to you. No, really. Your daughter is 32 months old? Wow. <grin> |
