![]() Good morning fellow campers! -2C/28F Some flurries, but accumulation between now and tomorrow is expected to be less than 1 centimetre = approximately 1/3 of 1” so I’ll drive to London today to get some more paint. I need only a quart to finish my craftroom. Haydn had said he’d install the floors tonight, so absolutely must get the walls finished in anticipation of laying the floors. I’m not going to buy the cupboards from Home Depot, Haydn promised that he would make them, but he can’t start ‘til after Christmas because he has too much work that he’s doing at the shop. I did buy a 30” storage cabinet, a set of 30” cube shelving and 4 doors for 4 of the cubes. I already have two bookcases, two printer stands, two desks and one filing cabinet, so all I would need for my office is some upper cabinets. The office is a priority over the sewing and craft area. If we get the floors laid tonight, I’ll take a picture of it. Have a great day today everyone. Sylvia |

Sylvia, I would LOVE a craft room! When I built my house in Indiana, I had a completely empty, 28'X60', poured concrete basement, high ceiling, smooth and clean as a whistle. Grown men would get tears in their eyes, looking at it. My husband was going to build me a craft room down there, right in the center. We had all the plans drawn....and then July 1992 came....and went. Sunny here right now but getting cloudy; only 20 F this morning. We are supposed to get another winter storm later on; a possible 4 to 8". My mother will say "I told you so" because I haven't shovelled the walks or cleaned off the cars yet. Well, it was supposed to RAIN yesterday, for Pete's sake! Now everything is covered with 2" of icy crusty slippery S* word. I had to use a leaf rake to clear off an area for my chickens to walk on; they flat refuse to set foot on that white stuff. I don't blame them a bit for this and am thinking they are smarter than I gave them credit for. But what are they going to do, when it REALLY snows??? |

:toot: Good Morning, Expecting 4 inches of :snow: late afternoon into Tuesday morning, got the Snowblower gassed up and ready to go. It figures that it'll start just when I start my shift, which means a nasty ride home in the middle of it all.....just glad that at that hour (11pm), traffic isn't too bad. Hope everyone recovers from last nights potty...err....party

That party...that's why I slept so well Good morning all. I don't think it's supposed to snow - today. Rest of the week is a different story. Once the lake effect gets cranked up, it just keeps cranking. The older I get the more I plan my errands according to the forecast. See you later - lots to do. :santa: |

It is a beautiful morning here in the mountains of Northern California. It is a bit chilly, but that is what fleece and fingerless gloves are for. I still have eggnog for my coffee, so all is well. Yesterday, we had a surprise visitor. A local couple stopped by. They were cutting and splitting dead wood for their house. They were surprised to see us there. Orson and I joined them for a couple of hours and we now have enough cut and split fire wood to last for at least two weeks of splurging. I carry a chainsaw in the basement and they had a cute little hydraulic log splitter on a trailer behind their 4x4 truck, so it was a good match. Oh, and they gave me the ranger's home and cell phone numbers, as well as theirs if there is a problem. It was fun. Orson romped with their dog "Bailey", while we cleared dead wood. I delivered a project on Saturday and requested that I not be paid until after January 1, for tax reasons. I probably didn't have to make that request, since this client usually pays about 90 days behind. I already had a new project lined up. I don't want to start thinking about it (fat chance), until I clear up the last minute tax thingies. My accountant fella says I need to sell some stocks that are losing money before the end of the year to balance things. That took some thought. Which ones are not likely to bounce back soon? I had some share in Microsoft that I dumped at a loss. Then I had to change hats and make some decisions about corporate finances, for my little one person corporation. I hate accounting stuff, so this was a difficult transition. But, it had to be done and right now. Once I immerse myself in the new project, it would be far more difficult to step back and think about such things. Geeze, it gets complicated being an employer/employee. I needed to decide about the medical, dental, vision insurance stuff. What is more effective: paying $12/month to get a new set of lenses each year and a new set of lenses + frames every two years, or just winging it? I'm winging it. Weather moving in over the next few days. There isn't much that I can (or need) to do to prepare for it. Winter happens. Thank you for the weather reports of -x C. Believe it or not, this makes me feel a lot better. The nights have been mostly +x C here (above freezing for the metric impared), with a few dips and some snow. Santa is still trying to figure out what else to bring me. Coal is good -- it burns in a good fire, LOL. But I have been a good boy almost all year (okay, so I had some dark thoughts about the lawsuit). Santa had better drive down the mountain or he won't have a good place to shop... Orson's stocking is hung and he checks it a few time per day. I'm terrible at wrapping, but I have managed to get a couple of his gifts in there. The rest of my Christmas shopping was done weeks ago. Yes, I know, this is strange. I've never done this before. I hope you are all having a great day. And for those of you going to the mall, I offer this small bit of hope. Just remember that an IQ of 100 is the average. You are going to meet the other half of that average at the mall. Be gentle. Some are doing their best. As to the teenies that walk 5 abreast and get in your way everywere, this is there home. They live here -- they only go home to sleep. Treat them as a walking information source. They know where Everything is. Yes, I can afford to be a little smug, since my Christmas shopping is over and done with, hee hee. Nah, na na nah nahhh, hee hee. Oh, I can be so evil at times.... |

![]() Doc, thanks for all the Christmas advice about shopping at the mall. Yesterday I went to the mall with my daughter, bought a lot of shirts for my son and her husband. The package was heavy so I walked to the car and put it in the trunk. We have lunch, low and behold I can't find the package......The two of us go nuts looking for it, going place to place to see if someone turned it in....... DUH.. .....I put it in the car.........not even my daughter remembered and she's young..........I don't plan on going to the mall again, too much stress. Does Orson have to wait for Christmas morning to open his stocking, or does Santa come early? :santa: :santa: :santa: |

Very little chit chat today! Everyone must be busy being good little boys and girls. Our lights are finally on - I felt so unfestive. Don't you feel a little guilty when you look out the window and see festive and you look blah I'm already planning for next year for lights for the outside of the new room - I see three of those lit Christmas trees, cone shaped, on the east side. After Christmas sale for sure. |

Pat, I will be putting up the window lights tomorrow. The outdoor stuff will have to wait til the weather warms up a bit. I could have done them today but I had to build a "porch" for my chickies. I put two sawhorses at the front corners of the coop and nailed two long narrow boards across them, then covered that with heavy plastic and stapled it down. This will keep the worst of the snow from covering the food and water dishes too fast. AND!!! while I did this, I banished the chickens from the coop. After watching me build their porch (which involved a great deal of walking around in the crunchy snow), they eventually found the courage to step onto the snow themselves and found to their great surprise that nothing terrible happened! They made their way over the frozen wastes to underneath the big pine, where no snow is on the ground, and spent the day there. At about four, Mom told me she had seen them making their way back to the coop! This is the first time they have done this on their own; since the day they were moved, I have had to lure them back with a dish of corn every evening. So in one day, we have learned two important things!! Now, we'll see how they do with the much larger amount of white stuff that is supposed to fall tomorrow...
