Will you have to cut other places to cover the increased heating costs? In my own case I've been modifying my house for years to use solar for water heating and also to heat. I figure the increased cost will be about $2 a month, but I know people for whom this will add $50 or more a month, something will have to give. |

I've heard where the studies show that if you spent $700 to heat last year, this year you'll spend $1900 . We were thinking of a small Woodburning Stove ($1300) and run it thru the Fireplace Flue, but not sure if we want to lose the feel of a nice fire blazing while the snow falls outside.

*Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming- "Wow!, What a ride!" *A good friend will bail you out of Jail...A true friend will be sitting next to you saying "Boy, was that fun!" | |

Welcome to the world of cheap electricity. We've been hit by a major rate increase last year..... a full 2.7% The next rate increase is scheduled for next April and could be for an other 2%. Total annual energy cost for our all electric house could reach $1,800. this year. |

Corky and I were talking about this a week or so back.... up here, energy coporations like Electricity and Natural Gas are regulated - for price changes, they have to apply (and show cause) to a Provincial Regulatory Commission. Teresen Gas, until recently Provincial but now privatized to a Texas company, has applied for a 5.6% increase. They will probably get it, and I frankly don't mind. But one must remember that B.C. is where most of N. America's gas IS, so they are selling us our own gas - I think that gives us a "right" to be regulatory. Oh, us poor, down-trodden Socialists, eh?
