Why's everyone down on Lucifer? The Old Testament never mentions his rebellion and fall. He appears in Revelation 22:16 16: I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. He is a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts in 2 Peter 1:19. It is likely Christian mythology picked up the assiciation with the morning star from Greek mythology, Homer, Illiad: the whole day long I was carried headlong, and at sunset I fell in Lemnos, and but little life was in me. And in Latin is is "lux (light; genitive lucis) and ferre (to bear, to bring), meaning light-bearer". It's only later that Christian demonologists linked Satan, Lucifer, and Beelzebub opposite the Trinity. Lucifer, Devil |

I was going into town, on the windy roads that I love so well. As I approached a blind hairpin curve, there was this motorcycle in my lane, on the wrong side of the double yellow. Thankfully, I was in the toad, rather than the coach. I managed to scrub off a lot of speed, but basically it was up to him. Either he pulled it off or he became a hood ornament. I had no choice in the matter. He pulled it off, but just barely. When I stopped to buy a pound of coffee beans - my reason for the trip, there it was. His bike was parked right in front of the place. I had a strong urge to just yank his ignition wires, but with strained myself. At an earlier age, I might have done the same thing, but there he was in line and we were both in our 40s. I settled for counseling him that many of the 20-somethings would just speed up to make his pass impossible. "And that would just cheat fate, wouldn't it old man." I was stunned. Not by the fact that he had more grey hair than I, but by his attitude. Fate? Shudder. I'll be more careful in the mh. Although, when I think of it, a hood ornement of the the back half of a motorcycle might just make some people think. Nahhh. At his speed, he would have missed the significance of it. Fall colors here. Tourist traffic. I'm gonna need to move on soon. I will need to do my annual visit to SD and buy a new toad. I have no idea where to next. I am on "vacation" and normally I just drive mucho miles. I just gave Orson his shots and gave me mine, so there is no reason to drive to California. I'll probably buy a toad on this trip somewhere, and then get snowed in. I really don't mind that. Home is home. I was just wondering how some of you spent your late fall and early winter months. I'll bet few of you are going to South Dakota. But hey, I'm buying a new toad... |

We had a Prime Minister in the second world war who used to make decisons based on a Ouija Board & seances. I think I'd rather trust Bush & God than that, but the country survived. |

My humble apologies. I must have misread someone.
Not to be argumentative but the God I serve sends no one to hell anymore than he sends anyone to heaven. The place of my eternal abode is determined not by God but by my choices. Deut. 11:26-28 26 See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse-- 27 the blessing if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today; 28 the curse if you disobey the commands of the LORD your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known. Just as God set before the Isrealites the choice of blessing or curse He still allows us to choose today. I would invite all to choose blessing. In His grip, OP |
