When I read things like this it really frightens me. I hope god does not give him anymore bad advice! This press release is embargoed until 2230 hours on Thursday 6 October. Before that time it is only available through the link which you have been sent. President George W. Bush told Palestinian ministers that God had told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq - and create a Palestinian State, a new BBC series reveals. In Elusive Peace: Israel and the Arabs, a major three-part series on BBC TWO (at 9.00pm on Monday 10, Monday 17 and Monday 24 October), Abu Mazen, Palestinian Prime Minister, and Nabil Shaath, his Foreign Minister, describe their first meeting with President Bush in June 2003. Nabil Shaath says: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, "George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan." And I did, and then God would tell me, "George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq …" And I did. And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, "Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East." And by God I'm gonna do it.'" Abu Mazen was at the same meeting and recounts how President Bush told him: "I have a moral and religious obligation. So I will get you a Palestinian state." |

I heard GWB was back on the bottle, but until confirmed ill treat it as a rumor. Besides, we won't learn the whole truth about him until he is out of office and he and his henchmen have long since passed on, I'm sure ill never live that long. Since Bush and God are on such great terms, why doesn't he ask God why he is punishing America with conflagrations, droughts, inundations, Tornado's, earthquacks, Hurricanes, and pestilence. Maybe President Photo-op has the wrong number for God, or just doesn't know how to use the phone. ![]() |

History 101: When a popular myth is believed to be factual, teach the myth. Its not possible to underestimate the intelligence of the voting populous. Hummm, after seeing the results of the 06 election, I may have to modify my perception of the voting populous and refer to them as "Late Bloomers".

White House denies 'God told me' claims. About Bush, not the Blues Brothers! |

Well, we've got God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks in tongues. Bush may not know many languages. Love the picture with the phone, 5th! |

GW like many Christians and people of other religious faiths believe that during their soul searching and contemplation to reach decisions they are enfluenced by god. A far cry from god ringing him up on the telephone. You, and I may not agree with his/their beliefs, but that is no reason to riducule them for what they believe. |

I hope God doesn't get all mad and tell George to pick up the " RED " phone and launch a few biggies at those bad people. |

I doubt that he would tell GW to do that. The children of Isreal have their own nuclear arsenal, and I'm sure god would trust the dirty work to them. |

I rather doubt that God speaks to President Bush. Heck, even James Dobson of Focus on the Family claims he can't even get a sign from God concerning the appropriateness of a Supreme Court nominee.

I rather doubt God speaks to anyone. How anthropomorphic can you get. It's as bad as the ID argument.

God does speak. The question is whether man listens. |

I certainly cannot argue with that. I rather think both of us just attempted to make the same point. |

I may never meet anyone who's heard God speak through a burning bush. And I doubt I'll come across someone who's survived being swallowed by a fish. But even in our everyday encounters we have the opportunity to be reminded of the infinite ways our infinite God speaks and to be enriched by them. Get a cup of coffee, sit out on the porch in the wee hours of the morning. If you can't see and hear God in the beauty of a sunrise and the sounds of the world around you awakening to a new day then you probably never will. Some are so wrapped up in their version of religion or what they like to refer to as their brand of "christianity" God can't get a word in edgewise. JMHO. God still speaks, we just don't always listen. In His grip, OP |
