Arizona took the settlement money and spent it on other projects. I don't believe more than a tiny amount went to educate children against smoking. The state simply supplemented their spending with this windfall. So were they concerned about offsetting healthcare expenses? Hardly. Were they concerned about decreasing this healthcare threat? Hardly. |

Being very knowledgable about folks that smoke tobacco and drink beer and liquor I wonder what would happen to our tax base if both nasty vile habits were eliminated. What would the government replace the huge tax loss with. No more beer, wine or liquor tax. Ouch. Cigarettes and ALL tobacco products. Wowser. Here is another good one. No more gambling. Lotto, Bingo, race tracks etc. even the 50/50 clubs at the local churches. I say ban all these wastefull sinful acts and clean up our land. And on the other hand I certainly miss sitting in a casino sloshed up, smoking listening to all the bells and having a great time. Seemed at the time more fun than listening to a red breasted whipporwill at 5 in the morning. :5shots: |

Not unlike you and I when we were young. Our demise seemed so far and remote from our current existance that we rarely gave it a thought. |

SIMPLE! As I alluded to earlier, make those things Illegal, and you have now simply TRIPLED the basis for smuggling, and Organized Crime! AT LEAST! The Hell's Angels and the Asian gangs would just SWOOP IN, and leave the "hard-drug/prostitution/gambling" thing with the Old Gangs, right where it is: THEIRS! .... they would have regular Meetings, to be sure everyone is looked after - and DAMN the citizens! Welcome back, The Roaring Twenties!!! ![]() |
