Twins Update - Born 9/9/05; Allison and Joey

Well, he's home!

Slightly frazzled daughter last night :)

Both babies on four hour schedules, but they're the wrong four hours! I'm sure that can get corrected quickly...Allison is like 6, 10, 2 while Joey is 7, 11, 3 - clearly you will spend your day feeding babies at that rate. Sharon called around 8 and said she had an hour and didn't know what to do. I told her to take a nap ;)

Thanks from the bottom of our collective hearts for your help, prayers and support the last two+ months. There is still a ways to go, but it looks as if they are on the right track.

SO! Brother and sister re-united at last - let The Games begin!  ;)

Mur - I think they have!

My daughter just emailed that the twins were smiling at one another (? but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt) at 3AM the other morning.
This is not when we want to play, sweetpeas.

She attached pix of Allison I had taken but none of Joey since she doesn't want to send out a pic right now with the tubes and wires visible, which he doesn't have at home, but they don't have a digital camera.

Well, she explains her reasoning and then tells her friends, "Use your imagination - they're twins!" Actually they do look exactly alike and they both look like their brother.

I have a funny feeling they will all do fine :floorrollin: :floorrollin: They will have to keep their sense of humor alive and well

Edit Just talked to her and the twins are doing great. Joey saw the pediatrician today to be released completely from NICU - weighs 6 lbs. 14 oz. Sharon and Steve will be fine as long as they don't plan to sleep ;)

Pat,

Just catching up on your news. Wonderful to hear that both of your grandchildren are now at home. I'll add my prayers that they continue to improve, gain weight and that not to far in the future, they'll be on the same shift. :floorrollin: Sharon and Steve can take turns sleeping 'til they do and for quite some time after that!

I think we can put this thread to bed - September 9. Wow! They were due this past Sunday 11/20 and since I've been here for nearly a week - they really are basic babies. They both have reflux, Joey is on a med for some liver damage that was due to the nutrient feeding he had to receive, but beyond that they are basic babies.

They are good babies too, which is a boon. Allison grunts a lot...toots a lot...basic stuff. Joey has his little quirks too, but again, it's all basic baby stuff. Joey christened a clean sweater of mine on Wednesday, but it blended in so I kept it on! Brings me back to my youth ;)

Again, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers and good thoughts through these couple of months. Talking here has been an incredible help.

Good to hear from you Pat and always glad to hear Allison and Joey are doing well. How was Thanksgiving Day with all the family? I don't know if you posted and we were out of town with another low signal wifi. I have lots to catch up on.

So glad to hear that they are both doing well. I heard on TV that 1 out of 8 births are premature, that's a lot!!!

Well, I guess I will add to this...they were three months old this past Thursday and Sharon found out yesterday that Joey's liver is "fixed!" How nice it was for them to take him off the pain causing, but necessary medicine. He's a happier boy - and weighs 8 lbs. 9 oz. He is taller and wirier than Allison who is, per her mother, "short and fat." They are both putting on weight like gangbusters having gotten the hang of it!
They took naps today in their "big" cribs and did so happily. Praise the Lord and stop the reflux! Only blip on the radar...but that's improving too.

Of course, now our youngest daughter - due in February and currently 30 weeks - has been put on bedrest. :(

Santa, I'm pretty sure you know what we want for Christmas - a baby that stays put :holiday: which he actually should (if he knows what's good for him.) ;)
