Well, I got some pretty good news tonight from our daughter. Allison is basically just a real little person. She went for her two month checkup Tuesday and got her shots (didn't like them) and has grown 5 1/2" since birth...20 1/2" and she weighs 6 - 11. Doing very well. She's progressing beautifully. She can even come to Thanksgiving as long as children do not touch her
They will not or Mimi will cut off their hands. Joey had his lower GI series and nothing bad showed up. This is a good thing. They have had a variety of people read the results, films, whatever they are, and the consensus seems to be that the NEC he had earlier is just taking longer to resolve itself than usual. He is on a different formula and back on nipple feeds; weaning him gradually off TPN. He seems to be tolerating this but it's only two days into the program so my daughter is taking it with a grain of salt. He weighs 6 pounds 3 ounces, but I have a feeling this time, this formula, this plan will be the charm. That's just a grandma feeling, but I do like to think positively I kind of see him home in two weeks, God willing. (That's grandma again, not a doctor!)There is a thread running on RV.Net (ATC) about a little girl who was born in June, three months early, and just had open heart surgery - it brings me back to earth when I start to worry about our two. We have been soooooo lucky. Thank you And my poor other girls - Colleen and Tess. Colleen is nine months old, has started to crawl, and her brother now is sooo excited to have her around since she can "play." My daughter interrupted our conversation to say "Patrick, get off your sister!" Tess was just one month old and as of yesterday her 3 year old brother thought plastic french fries might be a nice treat for her Life goes on...

Tooting of trumpets!!! Joey is coming home TOMORROW. I think this came as somewhat of a shock to the kids, but coming home the child is. He's eating a very expensive forumula really well, has residual liver damage that will have to be carefully watched, but he's coming home!!! My daughter sounds like the proverbial chicken with its head off So, we'll go down next Wednesday and then I'll just stay. Don will go home with another daughter who lives locally. I have been saying this was the year with no plan, and it certainly has been We'll just keep hoping for continued miracles...things could have been so much worse. When life hits you in the face like this, it really puts a lot of other things into perspective, doesn't it? Thanks for all the prayers. Please don't stop. They are not out of the woods yet - just one little bunch of trees. Kate - you're good

Andrea, That is apparently part of the plan. Actually for both of them. I don't know if it's county driven or hospital driven...I'm sure I will find out more. It sounds as if Johns Hopkins itself, from the stuff I've read on our twins, has a lot of ancillary services they mandate for their preemies, especially their twins. Joey already has an appt. scheduled with someone for January. I'll probably really need to pick your brain as this goes on. Thanks
