This is a good thing to bake when you don't really have anything to make a pie with! Traditional (except for the cinnamon) and very, very good!

1 and 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 cup molasses
3/4 cup hot water
1/2 tsp. baking soda

1 unbaked 9" pie shell

Oven 350 F

Rub flour, sugar, butter, cinnamon and salt between fingers to form coarse crumbs.
Dissolve the soda in hot water, then add molasses and mix well.
Into the pie shell, pour half the liquid, then half the crumbs to form layers; repeat, finishing with the crumbs.
Bake for about 45 minutes. Good warm or cold!
