Out at Mittry lake the guy that owns and drives the black tank truck offers to dump you tank for $35 or you helping for half an hour, interesting proposition isn't it. Guy is a retired L.A. bus driver and quite a character, say he's had very few takers on the free dumps. I figure he makes four dumps an hour the way he does it, dumps and flushes both tanks and sprays down valves, does a very good job. He figures he makes about $85 an hour after expenses and unproductive time. Is he over paid? P.S. you can dump in town 15 miles away over dirt roads for $10, he even hands out maps to those that complain about the cost, his son runs the self-service dump station. |

Frank says he's number 1 in a number 2 business. At $85.00 an hour I'll send Frank to find a part time job there.

Chrissy, The field is wide open, all you need is a properly setup truck, a place to clean it and a permit to use the metered sewage in a nearby town. You need no permits on the federal lands as long as you are totally self-contained and portable. Heard lots of comments like your,s but never seen any competition. |

Chrissy, As the weight police Frank has other duties that would be interfered with. It's not heavy work, I'm sure a woman could handle it every bit as well as any man. You'd probably get far better tips than Frank. |

The only way Frank checks for weight is give me a dirty look when I'm shopping. Now Corky, I'll pass on this job, ain't gonna do it, no way, not on your life.... __it happens and it ain't happening with me.

Only if she wears bikini. $85 might sounds like a lot of money, but take into consideration, that the guy is probably making lot of BS (maybe not necessarily bull..) and the job is seasonal. It is hard to believe, what corky suggest, that he empty 32 tanks a day. |

Chrissy, Do you notice that Corky hasn't grabbed this economic opportunity and run with it?

Kris, There are four main boondocking places in the area, it's not unusual to see two hundred rigs out there in the fall, winter, and spring. Nobody with any options stays there in the summer. Kopit, I'm a born klutz and would end-up losing money on the environmental cleanup fees. Besides I so ugly even the "stuff" runs away from me! |

That must be it. Well Lynne, you may be right, but he has an excuse now. See his post. Corky, no excuses, you just don't want to get your hands dirty. Good topic Corky, I think we needed a laugh today.

Kate, His comment was that this a much better job and he didn't have wear a bullet proof vest all the time on the job. Actually it's the smell of all the things people add to cover the natural smell that gets to me! |

One of our sons-in-law drove a honey wagon in a campground one summer. He said it paid well, and that was his bottom line
