If I'm going to pay for a campsite the max I will spend is $20 and it has to be a very good place for that. Most of time I'm looking for free and under $10, but I don't demand much either. |

We got a discount for the Rally, $20 was a bargain for Deer Run, great CG. I usually pay between $38-$55 a night, private CGs, usually W/E hook ups, sometimes I go for full hook ups if I'm camping with family. |

We average under $20 and always have full hookups. We have been able to do this through the winter in Florida by doing one or two months at a time at CGs we like. Through the winter I definitely want a pool or two at the CG, good interior CG roads for bike riding, and a picnic table at the site. We also use Passport America whenever we can and don't mind going off the beaten track to find a PA park. We do very little summer camping any more and since we are retired we can go mid-week to use discounts. We used PA exclusively on our ten day trip home from FL this year and were not disappointed. We are going back to Deer Run in August for the races at Saratoga and will happily pay their $25/night. That was a very nice campground with fantastic facilities and their rally rate couldn't be beat. I know they will get a lot of repeat business from the rally group. |

During the winter, we spend $20/night for a big space (35x80) with full hookups. We've spent as much as $38/night but try for under $20. Lots of COE's and state parks are pretty inexpensive and usually very nice. |

We spend way too much for campgrounds and that is probably my fault. In the future I am going to make an effort to be more frugal about finding campgrounds that are less expensive. The one we are at now is a KOA in Canandaigua, New York, just south of Rochester and it's $42.00 totally not worth it. Tomorrow we will be at a Passport America campground and spend $11.00 a night. That will be a first. I find I have some favorite places we like to stay and am willing to pay for it. We may go to Mama Gerties in North Carolina on the way home for a couple of days, I like it there and will spend the money. Chrissy |

I'm frugal. I really like to stay under $20.00 CAD. But I want my trees too. |

Corky, Geez, it sounds like soooooo much money when you put it that way. You forgot to subtract the amount for staying one night at FlyingJ. Now about the weight police, I thought of you today. Went shopping and the bag was so heavy I had to give it to Frank to hold, but the bag is in the jeep.....Old habits. Also used my beautiful vase (that broke the drawer in the MH) for my beautiful lilacs. I'm happy.

Chrissy, Jeep weight still counts for everything but tire weight! The figure is why I don't cry for CG owners! Campground we have part ownership in has always made a handsome profit every year. Be nice to Frank, those heavy package give you monkey arms. |

Just a little bit of news about Deer Run "peak" rates. Rick, I'm not sure when you were planning on going up there. I just called them and made reservations for two nights in August (we're going to the races at Saratoga) and during the racing season, a site is $40 not $25. We'll be back in site 165 on Aug. 16 and 17 if anyone wants to drop by |

Terri called and said we're goin' campin' this weekend.........2 weekends of campin' back to back for me....YIPEEE!!
. I'm posting here 'cause of cost.......Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Lazy River...W/E Site.....$55 per night. Newburgh/New York City North KOA...W/E Site....$38.95 per night and if I want to reserve a particular site, there is a $10 fee (thats new). We're going to KOA, Terri likes thier sites better, more wooded.

Rick, Good for you getting to go camping again, and thanks for that post. I will show it to Don before he complains too much about the $40 at Deer Run later on this summer. |

Seasons such an impact no matter how you travel. Our timing is structured because of school and work. We could only go to less expensive cg's/places based on seasonal rates or go where we want when we can. For now, we do the latter. When retired we hope to go more and plan for discounts. I have seen range between $25 and $55 at a favorite campground based on seasons. We want to do Ft. Wilderness at Disney. Last time I looked sites range from $50 to $90 full hook-up depending on season. Kate |

Pat, I think nobody but me used their bathroom facilities. And, hard-core camper though I am, I would NEVER take a shower in those dark, dank, scummy, filthy shower facilities, with enormous spiders running around...PLUS, they are coin operated! I was appalled. Even the State parks have better facilities. I could never stay there more than two nights; couldn't wait to get home for a nice clean shower! |
