Mt. Washburn Cam. Yellowstone N.P.

I am amazed at the lack of snow In Yellowstone, compared to here in California..

Buddy, I love those webcams, especially the Old Faithful webcam. There are so many interesting, unique geysers all around Old Faithful. We spent a whole day on the boardwalks exploring all of them, waiting for them, and hiked up above them.

Old Faithful, and view from the mountain above the geysers

The Mammoth geysers were so different from geysers in other parts. Each area of Yellowstone has it's own unique fascinating features.

I skied at Mammoth many times. It looks just the same!

Old Faithful is still impressive. But not nearly so much as before the big quake.. The Great Fountain geyser by Firehole Lake is a very beautiful area.

Great fountain only erupts twice a day. But for a much more substantial time.. It is also surrounded by much more geyser and hot spring activities. Firehole Lake is amazing.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Great Fountain. Check with the rangers on it’s expected eruption time before going. It would be especially disappointing to get there just a few minutes after it had erupted..

Mammoth Hot Sprigs were not always the white they are today. Prior to the quake the flows were greater and much more colorful..
Think back to the most colorful area of the springs you saw.

Imagine the entire area that colorful..

I couldn’t get my kids and mom to move back to North Dakota. But they would move to Bozeman in a minute...

One of those shacks on the hill outside Bozeman. In the Big Sky area.

Would do me just fine.. :)

When we drove through Firehole Lake, the loop, we sat and waited on Great Fountain Geyser for quite a long time, it erupts about every 12 hours. Sometimes geysers can be hours off schedule...but such is a geyser! That was a beautiful area. We spent an afternoon on the loop walking everywhere. The following picture was taken by Firehole Lake.

Beautiful geyser pool

We spent a whole week in the Yellowstone area, so we could explore each area and do a lot of hiking. We have lots of pictures of the wildlife, waterfalls, hiking with a ranger, and picnicking on Yellowstone Lake. One thing we learned about the Yellowstone area, change is constant, and a vital part of the features.

We fell in love with Bozeman, the few days we were there overnighting at Walmart, resupplying, using compters at the university there, picnicking in the parks. We've talked about going back and settling there, because it's very relaxed and laid back, and surrounded by beautiful mountains. One of the greatest places we camped was north of Helena, northeast of Chouteau in the wilderness.
