This is a wonderful little day trip if you're ever in the San Antonio area, Wildseed Farms. From SA take I10 north-west up to Comfort, the State 87 directly north to Fredricksberg. When you hit Main Street, at the Admimiral Minitz Museam, hang a right on out State 290 east toward Johnson City (yes, LBJ, another good stop). Just past the road you take south to Luckenbach (Willie Nelson), oh about two or three miles is the farm, can't miss it. Looks like this, big ol' barn and tractor out front flying the Texas flag: ![]() There they grow fields of flowers, seas of color, just specatcular. Early April is best for the bluebonnets, but the paintbrush were still doing fine, and the poppies were just outrageous! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Someday I'll get a camera of my own instead of stealing from a Web site. ) |

Yes, ma'am. Texas Hill Country Wine Trail. And the best darned German cooking around. Waitress even knew how to pronounce my name, asked if we were related to all the Moehles around those parts. Also famous for peaches. |

![]() That's a beautiful picture of wine country! Do they let the peaches ripen on the trees there? Can you pick a soft, ripe sweet peach at a peach festival? (Unlike Oklahoma.) Do the orchards let you go out an pick them for a small fee? |

Never asked, betcha they do. All the strwberry farms around do, lower the prices on top of it. I have three wee little strawberry plants growing this year--first time. Ate two strawberries Saturday, wow! almost good as a ripe tomato right off the vine! |

Those are great pix! Very inviting. We ate in Fredericksburg several years ago when we were in Texas and it really is a very German town. My mil is of German origin and Don found something to eat just like his grandmother used to make and was ecstatic. |

No, no plants this time. I go mainly for sights and ideas. I have purchased seeds from them on other trips though. |
