Well, I've gone and done it! I christened the 5er.
When I was there Friday which was a beautiful day, and I had a window open. Well, of course I forgot to close it, and it has rained for two days. We went there this afternoon to bring some stuff, and surprise! The table was all wet and two of the chairs had the cushions saturated, and of course the carpet. We turned the heat on in it and hopefully everything will dry ok. I am worried that the two chair cushions will have water marks on them. I guess I'll know better tomorrow when they are dry. Maybe I can sweet talk our dealer into getting me two pieces of that fabric and get them repaired. Oh well, it could have been worse, right???????????

Oh, Jackie...I'm so sorry to hear what happened. I'm chuckling, but I know it's not funny. It's just water. Yes, I'd say your new 5er is christened!
I'm sure if the truth be known, we all have a story about something new. I backed a new Ford Bronco 2 out of the driveway, but forgot the old Buick Regal was right behind it. There...I feel better now. Do you? . |

Yes Joanne, I feel better now, thanks! At least Greg didn't yell at me, although I am sure he wanted to!

Water is much kinder than the red wine stain on our white carpeting in our condo! Never did get it out, but it provided the excuse to buy a really nice antique desk to hide it which proved once again that necessity is the mother of invention. Sylvia |

You have a point Sylvia...but I would have liked to spend at least one night before I have to redo the seats! With any luck, they will dry and no one will be the wiser.

Last summer we were overnighting at Walmart in Lethbridge when a brand new TT pulled in. The owners, who were from Lethbridge, had just picked up the TT in Sacramento, California in order to full-time, but were returning to drop off elderly mom, before taking off to hit the road. The TT got our attention because it was making a lot of noise as they drove around the parking lot. It sounded like an axle bearing or something. So the husband had his wife drive it around the parking lot to see if he could locate where in the TT the noise was coming from. She came within inches of a utility pole as she rounded it, and then about 6 inches from a parked box truck. He started screaming at her as she narrowly missed them. Ah, such is the life of the RV couple who is full-timing!! |

Lots of things are unplanned. This one that I did wasn't. Haydn had a trench coat that he wore when he emigrated to Canada. It was the ugliest coat I'd ever seen and certainly wasn't flattering when he wore it. Despite numerous hints that he should replace or give it away, he just wouldn't. So one day I put it in a box and stored the box directly under the basement window. In no time at all, he was only too willing to part with the coat! Jackie, don't fret ... stuff happens! Ssshhh...promise not to tell! Sylvia |

Jackie...one more story: We were moving out of an apartment in Tulsa a few years ago, and working hard cleaning it to get our deposit back. I was using clorox in the bathroom and must have spilled a little bit on the floor, and stepped in it with my bare feet. Little did I know I tracked it out of the bathroom onto the carpet outside the bathroom. Later that night I came home from work and Richard and a neighbor were busy working on the carpet....there were yellowish-white footprints where the bleach on my feet had bleached the carpet! And we were set to have the manager do the moving-out inspection the next day. We ran to the store to buy Rit dye an try to match the carpet color, and we filled in the footsteps with spoonfuls of dye. We got it to where it looked like the rug was just normal soil from wear and tear, but we fussed over that stupid carpet for hours. Even though the apartment was scheduled for "rehab," (complete gutting and renovations) we had to leave the apartment in good condition in order to get our deposit back. The next day when the management came in to do the walk around, Richard stood on that place in hall. They never noticed. Rehab crew ripped out all the carpet after we moved out. |

Years and years ago I had finally gotten wall to wall carpeting in our first house. It was a beautiful shade of blue and I was so excited!!! Our oldest daughters were two and one at the time, and the older one rubbed Desitin all over their little feet and they gleefully walked down the hall from their bedroom. White Desitin, loaded with fish oil, is not good on blue carpeting They thought it was so cute to leave footprints...Stuff does happen and that stuff took forever to get out. |

Jackie, call the dealer in the morning and see what they think. They may have some info for you, but hopefully everything will dry out and there won't be a problem. I know you must be upset and I'm sorry that you have to go throug this right now. Mistakes happen to all of us but they can be fixed. As long as you and Greg are ok that's what counts. Chrissy |
